Move quietly and don't make it all about you! Fantastically said! Dave...you are a class act and thanks for making a difference in this world. Thank you!
Definitely on my bucket list. My grandfather used to take my Mom to Jenny Lake Lodge every summer. He painted the Tetons. Hoping this fall! Agree 100%. We need to walk in the shadows! Love that!
Great images. I bought a 1962 version on the Leitz 135mm for the m10r. I found that hand holding it, the shots were soft and found that using a tripod gave sharper results. Another gentleman told me that he has one as well and found that setting the shutter speed to 1000 gave him better results hand held. In either case, if I like the shot and if it looks soft, I run the image through the Topaz Sharpener that gives great results.
I was shooting a pretty high speed but even at infinity it wasn’t focused. I’ve had a back focusing lens before and it looked like that. A small repair would take care of it. I’ve met Lens Rental know.
That was great, thoughtful advice. In the past, I feel like that was the photographic cultural imperative. But since IG, the paradigm has shifted and yours was a good reminder to fade away, view, see and capture.
I love your photography work... that being said... Id love to watch at least a short feature film directed by you. I think nature/adventure travel photographers form a unique connection with their surroundings, have a particular way of solving "problems" that always come up, and yes... all of us enjoy shooting whatever it I that we shoot, but you my friend, make a lot of us go backcountry and just stay there. Awesome video! made me feel I was another photographer and friend that came along!
So sick dude. Opening sequence with the music and shooting felt like I was watching a western film of some rootin tootin cowboys doing something epic 😂
If you can, you should try and explore some more parts of Wyoming :) it’s my home state and there’s much more to offer outside of Jackson and Yellowstone
I love WY and I’ve been all over the state, from Lost Springs to Cheyenne to the Medicine Bow Mountains and Laramie to Squaretop and across Bighorn… and many other places as well. One of my favorite states!
You can totally use the multishot mode on the SL2-S within reason, like if your subject isn’t actually moving much and you’re using a high enough shutter speed it can fire off the 6 images it needs rather quickly. Even accounts for a small amount of motion in camera which is nice. I would argue that it even works better on the SL2-S in the real world as you have a lower pixel density than the SL2 which results in a marginally less sharp image but the final image is heaps sharper.
I'm so stealthy, I don't want people anywhere near my photos. If there are people around, I'm gone, out of their way! So kudos to that comment - agreed.
1:57 A 60MP camera with 135mm and 24MP with 100-400mm... I would stick with the 400mm on 24MP. For your 135 to match the 400mm, the crop factor is almost exactly 3. Better off with 24MP and the 400mm! 5:50 Use the Visoflex with anything longer than 50mm. That's what it's for. No point in using the rangefinder. Even if that lens was perfectly calibrated to infinity, you wouldn't be able to dial in focus precisely as the only M with a rangefinder base and viewfinder magnification suitable for long lenses is the M3. 8:38 Any bear would be hibernating now. I'd worry about coyotes ;) Also, Jacob just needs to run faster than you and he'll be fine. ;)
Thanks for the comment! I am aware of how difficult 135 is, which is why I was shooting at infinity the entire time. Also, all of the wildlife was at least 100 yards away!
@@davidherring Unfortunately, only a fraction of lenses ACTUALLY stop at infinity - and those that don't are not necessarily faulty or not calibrated correctly, many lenses accommodate for infrared focus which shifts infinity for the non-visible spectrum beyond the infinity focus mark. That is true for may older lenses especially. I shoot an older Leica 135/4 on my M10, but only using the Visoflex and dialing in precise focus using the electronic viewfinder. I find even 90mm too inconsistent with my M10 in the rangefinder window only. Also, as I found out when converting a Contax Zeiss 90/2.8 from Contax G mount to M mount, the technician calibrated the lens for his M240 (which was perfectly rangefinder calibrated itself), the focus was off on my M10, I had to open the lens and remove one of the spacer rings underneath the lens group to calibrate it for my M10. It seems there is no common calibration for lenses that long once you open up the aperture some more. In other words: the M is not really made for long lenses at all. But like you said, it's kind of fun goofing around with it.

Thanks so much!
So good man, love the Tetons! You captured them so well.
Thanks bro! Quick trip but so fun.
Beautiful, work!
Thank you!
This was a sit back and enjoy with a cup of tea video....Bravo
Thanks!
Thanks for a really enjoyable video with some truly great shots
Thanks Marcus!
Good stuff - I keep going back and fourth between my M11 and my XPro2
Use the camera that works best for you!
Fantastic shots. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
Very interesting, nice shots. Thanks 👍.
Thank you!

That’s really special and you definitely need to go see it!
Thank you for taking the time to make this. I love that place, and I appreciate you taking us along.
Thanks for the comment!

Just those first 13 seconds was enough to win me over with a "thumbs up" for this video.
Thanks man! That was beautiful and cold moment.
Really good. My mind went to black and white for almost all the shots. Very cool place.
Black and white would have worked well on every single one of these.
Stellar photos and video!
Thank you!
Thank you very much for your videos. I enjoy each one. German:😀🙏 Hab vielen Dank für Deine Videos. Ich genieße jedes einzelne.🙏
Thank you!
I love that you got Jacob addicted... Now share the cost of film photography with him. LOL!
Beautiful trip and shots.
Haha right? Thanks for the kind words!
Great message at the end Dave, loved the content!
Thank you!
I have the Leica M 135mm elmarit on my M11 it works fine but do need the Visiflex 2
I shot it rangefinder at infinity, but definitely didn't work out.

Photographers definitely to spend a little time observing and slowing down a bit, and letting others get the most out of their experience as well.
Nice comments Dave.
Appreciate it!
Sweet video! Where’s your jacket from?
Remu! Prob my fav Christmas gift this year 💪🏼
@@davidherring That’s awesome! Just ordered one for myself. Thanks for the inspirational content and response. Have an awesome day!

Thanks so much for the kind words. I’d love to do something like that and I hope to in the future.

Haha it basically is that vibe in Jackson Hole.

I’m really just using the SL2S for video and maybe a few photos here and there. Thanks for sharing!
Do you use your Ray Ban Meta's to record content for any of your channels? Or just personal stuff?
I have every intent to make Reels/Shorts/TikTok bts videos, but haven’t taken the time to do it yet. But I have a ton of videos now haha 😂
@@davidherring lmao same with mine. I’ve used the content for a reel exactly once lol
Haha we're ridiculous@@kidnoble
Also, we need deets on these gloves with the finger out!
It’s these! And I wear smartwool liners under them it it’s below freezing:

Thanks for sharing! I try to avoid places with people in general but if they show up, I wait them out or quietly move around.
