    Had a 45 for a few years and never really got on with it. My main problem was a lack of a back pocket for waterproofs etc.. Recently I treated myself to the Exped Flash pocket and it made all the difference. The Exped 45 is now my go to pack. If I could wave a magic wand I would loose the over complex compression system and add an integral back pocket.

    Well i have to say, this is a great pack. Wish they would make it out of ultra fabric, ditch the toppocket. Make the hipbeltpockets waterproof. Seamseal the thing and you will be having an even better pack. 👍

    Is the stay removable? Can you also make a 80litre version for super remote extended adventures and packrafting please!

      The stay is removable/adjustable. Larger pack sizes are being considered, though the Lightning would likely need a redesigned frame for the added weight of that much gear. For packrafting, something like our Tempest Duffle (www.exped.com/en/products/gear-bags/tempest-70) might be better suited to the situation (though it depends on how far one would be carrying it in "backpack mode")

      @@ExpedLLC Thanks for the message. all my Packrafting set up including food for 6 days weights 19kg, so within the frame capacity. At 80 litres I could fit everything inside the pack (rather than the outside) for on a plane/bushwhacking. I would be happy to test prototypes 🙂!

    Got the same bag and man do I love it. But what is that little thingy hanging on the center of the compression straps. Would be great to know. 😊

      The little thingy is probably the gear tie - it's a bungee with a hook and cinch on it for securing the end of trekking poles, ice axe handles, etc. to the outside of the pack. It can be removed and repositioned wherever's convenient

    Can anyone tell me honestly if this pack is comfortable enough for hiking long distances with over 17kg load?

    Wmns or not Wmns? What is the difference and what does this mean?

      Wmns = women's. Slightly different shoulder/hip widths

    Would have been great to see the additional front mesh pouch included in the video and how it attaches
    Waterproof hip pockets would be great instead of mesh
    And also an integrated front mesh pocket added to the design would make this a top class pack

    Who carries an extra headband? Odd comment.

    "With an ultralight pack you're oftentimes going to be using a single pack for multiple days".
    That must be the dumbest thing I've ever heard said on an outdoors youtube channel.
