I’ve seen similar mods to this but some suggest using gel filters (used in photography) available cheaply on eBay and Amazon. Gel filters are optically clear so your display will be just as bright after the mod.
The first time I saw this mod a few weeks ago, the guy doing it was using notebook folder dividers. It was a cool idea, and I guess it came out ok, but it really just didn't look quite right. After watching a few more videos and doing other online research, I ended up ordering a set of photography gels, and I'm glad I did. I got nine sheets approximately 8"×12", and decided to try it out on a few other watches first, some AE1000s and AE1200s, because I wasn't ready to take a chance on ruining my one and only G-Shock. Somewhere along the line, I changed my mind and I'll be doing the G-Shock's display in negative instead. Now I'm just waiting for the polarizing films to show up. My plan is to black it out, all except the lettering under the glass. So far I've disassembled it and blacked out the lettering on the bezel, but I won't be removing the original polarizer and cleaning the LCD until I have the replacements in hand. They come in a three pack, I'm guessing to allow for one mistake, one successful negative, and one to return it to normal in case I decide I don't like it. Hopefully I get it right the first time, because I have another AE1200 that I'd like to change to negative display.
I ordered from eBay seller onmywatch691 out of California. He sent three small sheets a little larger than the display, which means I have some cutting to do. I really don't know how many models he has or if he looks up the specs and cuts out a set of sheets like that for you. You might even want to think about something that has a larger screen than a watch; some cell phones, some TVs, computer monitors, anything that has a polarizer. What I've found... Is get out a pair of polarized sunglasses and hold them up to the screen like normal, looking at the screen. Nothing should happen. Now turn them 90° to the item. It should be darker. If it is, then that item has a polarizer. The only problem is it's probably glued to the screen and useless. But you could always order a polarizer film for whatever has one. The only thing standing in your way is how much you're willing to spend.
lol...a little tip for you...after you remove the module, flip the case immediately and make sure the glass is facing up. That way you don't get small flecks of dust inside the case right smack in the middle of the display. ;)
Hey Im trying to find a Grey and Black Camo Bezel and Strap for the Mudmaster GG-1000 I can't seem to find anything. Is there any other Casio Mudmaster that has the same format and configuration?
Why don't you put the vinyl/tinted film on the lcd instead of the plastic film like that? The vinyl/tinted film looks way better on any watch. In Malaysia, we use that vinyl/tinted film on g-shock watch that we want to customize. It has many options color too like yellow, orange, red, green and purple. Trust me, you will satisfied with that vinyl/tinted film. Peace...

Craig Rodgers you're absolutely right. Photography filters are much better and clearer. I improvised. Thanks for commenting and offering the info
So would you recommend going the gel filter route?
That's a great video. I've never seen this FROGMAN before. I always use G-SHOCK of my collection.
I realize I'm pretty off topic but do anyone know a good place to stream new tv shows online?
@Chris Billy Flixportal :)
TBH it looked really cool whenever he took the rubber faceplate off I would rock it like that
