    I'd just like to clarify that donation DLCs have to include something now, you can't just create an empty dlc just for donations anymore.

      @@Balakademi Probably. As long as it gives the player something extra. I've seen art books/concept art of the game (pdf), new levels, character customization (skins, etc.)

    I played several mobile roguelikes and also the vampire survivors mobile(which is free for base game but has paid dlcs) but I have weeks in holocure(and IMO its not just better than vampire survivors its also the best suvivorlike roguelike)
    One correction: in fact Holocure is a completely free game, not even free to play, there is no way to pay the dev not even donations. He's an established anime animator and because it's a fan game he didn't want to risk a lawsuit so he made it free.

    One thing you did not mention when working on a small game is that the faster you close the gameplay loop and extend it, the more fun the development is in general, because you feel accomplished already for making a running game.
    And I think having fun and being enthusiastic during development may also end up in a better game

    I released the demo for one month. ~ 7 000 people added the game to their libraries ("Lifetime free licenses"), only ~ 20 people actually played the game ("Lifetime unique users") , what are the other less than 6 980 ? (a) people adding every possible game to their libraries (b) bots ?

    • @ZahrDalsk
      @ZahrDalsk Месяц назад +18

      Probably adding just to have it. "I might play it some day" - never comes. I've bought (paid for) games that looked kind of neat and then never gotten around to playing them. Probably half my Steam library are games I never actually played even once. Not surprising people would do that for a game that's entirely free.

      Yes we all have games lurking in the corner but not 99.9 % of us. So B.O.Ts Do the farm.😅 . There you get your Data in the void. I have 20000 and 26 Played Demo. Steam will one day find a solution maybe

    Hey man! What was your exprerience reaching content creators with the pizza game? What was the response percentage roughly? I guess the actual content of your email/message affects it tremendously. Also you had the good fortune of saying you have 30k subscribers on RUclips which probably helped.

    • @LesJeuxDeMilen

      I think he sent over 150 letters and only 3 played his game and 1 of those 3 was Japanese and after him other Japanese started playing the game.
      My experience : I sent ~ 300 e-mails with free keys to game oriented (small and medium sized channels) Influencers (RUclips and Twitch) and gaming journals (english speking - small, medium and big journals, all over the world). I sent 100 free keys to Steam Curators (the maximum is 100). 1 youtuber made a preview. 1 twitch streamer played my game. 4 Steam Curators previewed my game. One youtuber asked me for a 25 $ "donation" to make a short video about my game.

      No, having 30k subs on RUclips did absolutely nothing and is something I didn't even mention. Don't make excuses "oh I could never do this because I don't have 30k subs"
      We had about a 5% response rate, which is similar to Forge Industry.
      Also, the video before this one goes fully in depth on it: ruclips.net/video/VHDfuDVsZvs/видео.html
