I dont mean to be off topic but does anybody know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost the login password. I love any tricks you can give me.
@Shepherd Conor i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
They shouldn't market this as JFK's country retreat. It was ALL Jackie Kennedy's vision, planning and escape. He bought the property to placate Jackie's desire to escape DC's fishbowl and her love of riding. The fact that she planned something so tasteful instead of something huge and obnoxious is a testament to her breeding and good taste,
Nancy Reagan said that her time at Wexford during the 1980 campaign was the happiest memory of that period in their life. Liz Taylor and her husband then senator John Warner were neighbors, and greeted them when they arrived. Ronald Reagan would go horse riding there. As a presidential historian, I would love to own this property and be surrounded by the history of these two Irish American presidents.
JFK tolerated Jackie building Wexford and he did go there a couple of weekends after it was finished. However JFK loved the water so Hyannis Port remained his favorite place to get some R&R. Also the Secret Service had to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to make sure they were set up at WEXFORD as well. Myself, I love WEXFORD and would gladly live there!!!
AN AWESOME VIEW! LAND FOR MILES. SAW THIS SHOW A YEAR OR SO AGO AND THOUGHT THE LOCATION WAS UPSTATE NY UNTIL BLUE RIDGE MTS. IS MENTIONED AND I KNEW IT'S IN VA. I LEARNED SOMETHING NEW TODAY. THE SCENERY IS SERENE- THANKS FOR THE TOUR. LOVE OPEN HOUSE- WAS WORTH SITTING UP TIL 2AM SUNDAY MORNINGS LAST FEW YEARS TO WATCH THE SHOW!!!😘
President Kennedy hated this place. He said to a friend, "What the hell am I doing way out here?" He let Jackie build it as a retreat for her to keep and ride horses and join in fox hunts. It had zero appeal for him. After his assassination, Jackie unloaded it as quickly as she could. The scenery is very beautiful!
Regarding the tunnel. She said no one knows where the opening is in the house. Can't someone go back through it from the basement end and see where it leads too?
It's a darned interesting question. Back in 2016, I decided to find this place and get as close as I could...which wasn't very close...Only to the gate with the stone pillars that still (faintly) read 'WEXFORD". It is sad.
Great video and fabulous Narrative , its hard not to sense your Awe and your Sadness, our only honest President and he Paid with his life. God Bless our only President who cared enough to take them on! J...
J.D Truths --silly assed comment, only honest President! He was big time adulterer just to begin with. His politics were shady as he learned from his shady father....
Yes, indeed???? Someone who is "screwing" around with Marilyn Monroe, while married, is of course, an honest President?!?!?!?! Get real, and take the scales off of your eyes!!!!
I would buy and preserve this home if I had the money. It would not be modified or exploited in anyway! Always available to the family. I would erect bronze statues of the family as they were at Wexford in November 1963.
With all that land plus house and stables etc etc It is a bargain even if they totally updated the home etc etc it is only going to increase in value Great weekend family home and so private
Great narrative and video. Thanks so much for sharing an important piece of history. Bomb shelter was very interesting piece of what we now never think about. Thx again! 🙏
Somewhere in the US government or the Kennedy library there would be specifics about a bomb shelter that someone built for the sitting US president. I can understand why no current owner would want to crawl up there and find out. Very creepy.
Jackie Kennedy spent many hours supervising every aspect of this house. She wanted a retreat in horse country . She even hung Indian karma sutra pictures on the walls. Unfortunatley for Jackie, JFK disliked the house. He thought the ceilings were too low and the ranch style was off putting. They Kennedys only stayed here three times. Jackie sold it six months after the assassination.
Great to see this, and to get a feel for what the house offered the Kennedy's. We didn't know the Reagan's later stayed there as well. Two minor details are wrong. It is NOT the only house built for a sitting President. The Gettysburg home of President Eisenhower was built while he was President. The other point is that the Kennedy's stayed at Wexford the week before he was killed, not two weeks. As not sign says in the video, November 16, 1963. The President of course, died on Nov 22nd.
Its like a typical countryside house in Ireland - not including the stables and bomb shelter of course. I stumbled on some home movies of the Kennedy's here a few nights ago but it made me too sad to watch it all.

8 ft ceilings??...

The plaque said " Nov. 16, 1963 ". That's only six days before the assassination, not two weeks. She should pay attention !!

Great video. I really enjoy the downtown Manhattan penthouses & condos the best on this channel! I really hope to see more of that!
Jackie never returned after jfk passed, she simply said it was just to painful.
The narrator became a little emotional at the end. Me too. I'm so happy the house is preserved.
Absolutely gorgeous!!
Regarding the tunnel. She said no one knows where the opening is in the house. Can't someone go back through it from the basement end and see where it leads too?
Annie M it’s in the closet in master bedroom
I wonder if Caroline visited this house today would it bring happiness or sadness or would it be bittersweet? Or maybe she doesn’t remember.
I wondered the same thing, it is Sad...
I wonder if Caroline would know where in the house the entrance is for the tunnel to the bomb shelter.
It's a darned interesting question. Back in 2016, I decided to find this place and get as close as I could...which wasn't very close...Only to the gate with the stone pillars that still (faintly) read 'WEXFORD". It is sad.
Great memories of great man. Kindly preserve it.
Wow ! shes great ! nice presentation!
The raised hearth was because of his bad back.

Ike .
President Trump and President Reagan two very excellent presidents. All three had to deal with the criminal deep state and its killing machines.
Yes, indeed???? Someone who is "screwing" around with Marilyn Monroe, while married, is of course, an honest President?!?!?!?! Get real, and take the scales off of your eyes!!!!
Did the Kennedy family ever return to visit this retreat after the assassination? Does anyone know when it left Kennedy family hands?
That's what I am wondering myself
Jackie never went back there. She sold it straight away.
I would buy and preserve this home if I had the money. It would not be modified or exploited in anyway! Always available to the family. I would erect bronze statues of the family as they were at Wexford in November 1963.
My house is up the road from that house
Do you have to get permission to come and see the house? I would like to come see it in person. I saw theres a gate at the start of the driveway
Amazing
I pray someone will buy this and preserve it and not change it. I imagine some mac mansion will replace it.
Great video
Jackie liked to ride horses John Kennedy didn’t ..he enjoyed the water swimming boating
I thought the place was called "Glen Ora"?
They might have filmed it during the spring or summer when it was green & covered in pretty colors...
Wexford sold in 2017 for $2.8 million; a bargain, really.
With all that land plus house and stables etc etc It is a bargain even if they totally updated the home etc etc it is only going to increase in value Great weekend family home and so private
Yep. Probably based on the reality that another $1 million would be subcontracted to fully restore the home itself.
So it is sold? I looked it up and found nothing. Thought they were keeping the sale quiet.
It would be worth it! @@michaelbarnhart2593
Jim Elliott Agreed 💯 it's definitely the land 🏡🌄
Great narrative and video. Thanks so much for sharing an important piece of history. Bomb shelter was very interesting piece of what we now never think about. Thx again! 🙏
Now we do....again 2022

is this house for sale?
Cool😊
It is lovely but there is a presence, i can't put my finger on what it is.

I bet that fireplace hides the entrance

They could at least clean the sign!

Jackie designed the house from scratch. JFK hated it. Kennedys only spent two weekends there. Jackie unloaded it as soon as she could.
Built by and for a sitting U.S. President? So this was publicly funded?
No
8of course not
Why would you assume that?..
It’s not bad but I am still not a fan of ranch style bungalows.
She's nice.... 6 days before
