I get what she’s saying but as you become an adult you can become friends with your parents and still respect them.
Especially since most parents don't know how to parent to begin ...never understood the whole friends bs cause I check my friends all the time hell we go to each other more than our parents

I wanted them to feel comfortable talking to me about everything. And not have to figure things out by themselves. He's 44 she's 36 now, both married. my oldest Granddaughter and Grandson in college. I have 5 grands.

Nonsense. Between high school and college tons have "dated" way more than that. Being in the public eye we like to decide what someone else's life should be. Public eye or private citizen. anyone who wants a relationship that fits (not for us, but for them) don't happen to just give up. Common broke up with people and people broke up with him. Two he wanted to marry, but he gets trashed like crazy for still trying. Women get told to keep hanging in there. The next one might be their Boaz.

Yes ma’am! I don’t have kids, but this is how I was raised! Too much familiarity breeds contempt and disrespect. I praise the Lord Jesus I was raised like this. That is exactly the kind of parent a kid or teenager is likely to hide things from. I want a close enough relationship to my children that they’re not scared of coming to me with a problem.
People confuse the terms friends and peers. Your parents are not your peers but you should have a friendship with your children. I'll never understand why he's trashed so much. It's not because he's in the public eye, because there are way more entertainers, men and women, who've 'dated' MUCH more than this. Friends and co-workers and some family past that by the time they were leaving college. At least the man found 2 he wanted to marry. Got men and women out here not even trying to find a relationship, just hook-up culture. If the person don't fit, I'm not staying with them either. That's ridiculous. She can grow and I would advise her to get private tutoring etc. She needs someone like a Babara Walters or she can reach out to Oprah to give some lessons. People may have much to say about Oprah but she was the IT factor back in her day and she learned and took notes from Babara. Jennifer should consider that if she wants longevity. Interviewing is bit her natural habitat.
