Lmao yeah I used to work in a restaurant and I always am so surprised by how much people don't understand what it's like. They think it's some perfect, clean, french kitchen where everything is perfectly white and everyone says yes chef, in reality it's a 50 yr old half awake dude who's smoking over the grill, yelling at a 19 yr old kid covered in tats and holding a live rat
@shaeisgae8952 no for real! I remember how pissed we got at one restaurant when they stopped letting us dress food with our hands xD which I still kinda stand by cause we'd wash our hands often but having to glove every order just slowed us down
Listen, having even more crossovers like this does not help my delusion of thinking Smosh/Anthony/Mythical/Dropout/TryGuys are making a giant group that works independently from each other but collaborates directly like this. A group that I would glady throw $15 a month at to subscribe to all of them at once instead of juggling each one separately every month. Not to mention it would save us all from the RUclips hellscape that it has become with the ads. Would much rather pay you all directly than Google for YT premium. One can delude!
Love the chemistry of these 3 . They all really seem to value each other. Also found it ADORABLE that they all love to cook outside of work specifically as a love language for their partners ❤️ my husband is the “cook as a love language” kind of person, and it never ceases to warm my heart.
I love Nicole humbling Josh about her experience as an assistant vs his! Reminds me so much of my own experiences, separate from this, as a woman in my (now past) field having to work my way up. Interesting how my ego will just pick these things out sometimes lol

As someone studying accounting to escape poverty, respectfully offer that “work a job you love” is the end of the continuum and you’re in the middle and I’m at the other end (working a job I don’t love for not enough money to live on)
25:42 as an accountant, let me tell you that while the ability to get a job is high, it comes at a price: the occasional urge to bash your head into the wall out of boredom/stress/frustration. No job is perfect. This was a great interview, and I love getting to see new perspectives from different people!
@SirAndrewII I don't make any claim that my job is more difficult than teaching, I was simply addressing the downsides of my job. I have the utmost respect for teachers, as they helped me get where I am today.
12:36 I remember the days when Chase was in charge of a lot of the cooking until Josh finally came and made bad sounding food GOOD. It's so amazing seeing how much they've grown ❤
There is a kind of person who gets more energy the more things they do, they try a lot of stuff and they just keep going. I think josh is that kind of person, the kind of person that wants something and does it and once he is finished, he keeps on going. Loved this episode
My parents are Latino and super overprotective, so when I'd go out with my (guy) friends they'd always be mistrustful and want to know everything that happened. A huge game changer was when I started taking photos of my meals and showing it to them. It would immediately diffuse the tension and give us something neutral/positive to talk about. Eventually they stopped caring so much that I was going out with guy friends--honestly I think part of that is that they were happy I was being fed well and taken care of. Taking pictures of food/good memories doesn't always have to be for social media
lol the "only meeting all safety standards when inspections happen" is true in every lab I've worked in as well. Almost all of the time we do indeed follow like >90% of the rules, but whenever an inspection is coming everybody rushes around, closing containers of solvent, discarding waste that should have been taken care of weeks ago, labeling chemicals and updating inventory that got put off, restocking first aid kits, etc.
7:27 chef josh is so right about the health inspection coming into the restaurant and sometimes that’s what most salons do as cosmetologists, bc when it’s a chain salon, we let our other salons know we got hit by the inspector, be alert and stay cleanly! So we relate.
16:32 Something about this point he states about “living for the camera” vs living for ourselves I have been contemplating a lot lately. I’m a person with enough trauma in the first 20 years of my life that I have massive memory blocks/gaps and that makes remembering the positive and mundane/worthwhile experience so I have a new found appreciation of photos that were taken when I was little. I feel like it’s worth the effort to take pictures of our experiences now so we can have those freeze frames of our experiences later in life and not have to solely rely on memory. Being able to look back on those experiences in that way, and show others those images when we are older is priceless, especially if you have memory issues without them, or want to be able to be able to look back on those stories again. Social media has certainly diminished the value of those images with the vast quantity and short captions, but there’s something to old fashioned photo album and story telling with others.
This is exactly my thoughts. Like, I understand being annoyed with “influencer culture,” but there are also a lot of people who are taking those photos for themselves. I also can’t remember a lot of my life, and there are many things I would have forgotten if it wasn’t documented and pop up in my digital memories. Doing actual scrapbooking is a great idea (although I’m not sure if I’d be able to execute on it).
There’s a difference of taking a picture to preserve a memory and taking a picture for some likes. I love going back through my pictures, I usually take them for myself only so I can look back on rough days.

As a Kansan and Chili/Cinnamon Roll lover, they always get this wrong. You don't eat the cinnamon roll in the chili or even dipped in the chili. You eat the cinnamon roll as a dessert after the chili.

I feel like there’s an avenue where these folks who clearly still want to cook for videos sometimes can do that with the support of the team, even when you’re expanding the company, it pays off both for the talent and for the audience who appreciate these chefs so much. Think about Gordon Ramsay - that challenge showed off so much talent, and also, he exhibits how you can contribute to content in meaningful ways and respecting the team he’s built while also cooking regularly.
It’s refreshing to hear that somebody who is talented at writing also hates doing it. I’ve been saying for years that it’s a bummer that we can be great at something that we don’t enjoy and mediocre at something we love. 😢
I'm an accountant in the weed industry, so maybe I'm the exception. I was relating so much until the "image being an accountant and you just have to be good at math.". If you mistreat the people or the idea becomes obfuscated then my talents can better used elsewhere.
There are rare instances where I have allowed myself to take pictures of food, but it’s only when it’s incredible I’m not taking pictures of pancakes at IHOP. It must be so immaculate and well plated.
I can honestly relate to cooking being a wifely duty in a nice way, I work full time as a chef/food handler, and I still come home in the afternoon/evening and cook dinner for my partner and our housemate, who also both work full time, it feels great knowing they're fed good food and it's really good for the soul
Nicole is very right that while I’m sure it doesn’t feel the same, mostly because of the number of people who would know you lost your job, it’s just like losing any job. Being good at math and having all the qualifications doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to have a stable job as an accountant.
Please make all those foods. I want Nicole to love Dutch chicken and waffles. Also I’m from Colorado, Trevor that isn’t chili in the traditional sense. It’s green chili and it’s a whole other beast. Trust me, that sandwich was done right.
Chili and cinnamon rolls is the BEST. You don’t eat them together like biscuits and gravy, you eat them in the same meal like steak and fries. It’s basically like having a preferred dessert for chili.
@@Natty11100 sorry, unclear wording. I thought maybe they didn’t like the idea of this dish because it looked in the picture like the cinnamon rolls were supposed to be covered in chili, or at least be eaten in the same bite, similar to biscuits and gravy. This is more like a main dish and a side dish. Or a main dish and a dessert. Don’t put chili on your cinnamon roll. Unless that’s how you like it? But that’s not how we do it, at least where I’m from.
No no, that’s definitely how you do it! Where I’m from, we put the cinnamon roll in the bowl, then chili on top, then just go nuts! It’s so good that way honestly.

It’s basically like having a preferred dessert for chili.
yeah but you would eat steak and fries together so its a bad example
@@Natty11100 sorry, unclear wording. I thought maybe they didn’t like the idea of this dish because it looked in the picture like the cinnamon rolls were supposed to be covered in chili, or at least be eaten in the same bite, similar to biscuits and gravy. This is more like a main dish and a side dish. Or a main dish and a dessert. Don’t put chili on your cinnamon roll. Unless that’s how you like it? But that’s not how we do it, at least where I’m from.
@@arjc5714 ah now I get what you are saying
No no, that’s definitely how you do it! Where I’m from, we put the cinnamon roll in the bowl, then chili on top, then just go nuts! It’s so good that way honestly.
Sweet and spicy could never go wrong!
