I understand the desperation of not having an income and so on, but like he said, when you sell yourself short, that reflects on all of us as a nation and thus leads to these people exploiting us even more. Same thing happens in our country. You look at how much government internships offer someone with a masters degree and it's straight up insulting!!! But we do it because obviously desperate times. How many factrory workers do you know who work for Asians who work 7 days a week, with below minimum wage in SA???! Please bafethu, lets not let these people disrespect us even further. Because, they will treat you how you sold yourself when you get there. And also, can we take this job of teaching English seriously guys...do your part, improve yourself. So that you can deliver excellent service. These are people's kids and people's futures we are talking about. Treat it as you would any profession. ❤
@serria john anything under 14k is too low. You did not leave South Africa for 8k which is the same amount you earn back home. Also teachers prefer t1,2 and sometimes 3 where they won’t be socially isolated. It harder for internationals to live in 3 and 4 tier cities. As much as it cheaper however cultural shocks are just beyond 8k in that isolation. When you are an international teacher you require a lot even insurance that most schools don’t provide hence whenever a teacher dies people must gather money to send the body home because it costs 300k. Again these 8k 10k 12k salaries are not offered to other English native teachers just South Africans. So we can’t ignore those things. South African must ask for nothing below atleast 14k in t2 n t3 t1 it will depend on housing and so on,,,
Last I checked it was only a bachelors degree required and masters going up. I only know one person who has went to South Korea with a postgrad diploma, I will try search if there’s anyone in groups I’m in just to be safe
@Maps05 Hi Maps, so as mentioned before (if your qualification DOESN'T specifically say BACHELOR of whatever, it won't be eligible. You need a BACHELOR'S degree to apply. Even though the NQF you may hold an NQF 7 qualification that may be equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, they still won't recognize it. Your PGCE needs to have been obtained with a bachelor’s degree. So you can try apply in other countries that are less particular about their educational certification.

Is it a good idea to apply for a job that would not apply for the work visa for you from China but would provide the necessary documents for you to apply for the visa on your own? Also, please do you have an idea of how to identify a recruiter who is a scammer?
Recruiters that ask you to come to China without an invitation letter , or those that ask for money. The best way is just to use recruiters with already good reviews from other teachers. Some schools now make you do everything yourself they just guide you on paper work once you are here.
There is always a local teacher in class required to be there especially in lower grades. So they translate where there is misunderstanding or if needs be

Changchun is a t2 city. You can live comfortably with 6k rmb. However that salary is way too low for t2 so they are not giving you justice on that contract. Thanks for the info. How did you find your agent when you were applying for the job?
I’ve never used an agent before honestly I always choose schools of people I already know who work there. That how I role but I do have trusted contacts on wechats of agents some of my friends have used. Holla on Facebook or linkin Mpumelelo Mshengu. I will send em
Hi Mpume, please do you know if schools in China accept the Teacher Record TEFL Certificate?

How are you able to teach kids when you don't know the native language - Mandarin?
There is always a local teacher in class required to be there especially in lower grades. So they translate where there is misunderstanding or if needs be
Hi, I am sorry for coming back again. Is 8000 rmb a good salary in Changchun, Jilin province for a first time teacher coming from outside China? If it is not, what is the minimum the teacher should ask for? I can’t really find information about this online which is why I have to bother you.
Thank you in advance
Changchun is a t2 city. You can live comfortably with 6k rmb. However that salary is way too low for t2 so they are not giving you justice on that contract. I do encourage people to accept atleast 14k after tax in any city of t2 and t3. Plus do they give you housing allowance and how much? T2 accommodation ranges from 2000-4000 depending on size mostly. I would never advice anyone to sign for anything below 14k .
@@MfanaKaMshengu Thank you very much
How much did you end up getting paid? Thanks in advance.
Hi bhuti, I hope you are well. Thank you so much for this video, very informative ❤. I got an offer or 7k RMB after tax and accomodation is paid for.
I am currently doing my Honors and i have 3 years tutoring experience. Can you please help me get a school that will at least pay 14k+ rmb.
