    I bought the RG351P for christmas, already used it for a couple of hours before putting it under the tree xD and it's the best console I've ever had for emulation, I actually liked it more than the RP2, I did a lot of research before buying and I'm not dissapointed. The buttons feel so well made, they're comfortable, it's really good looking. The only downside is the screen resolution, you'll need to change the scaling and use some shaders to make the games look better, but after that they look really great.

    I have a retroid pocket 2 and an rg351p and I'd have to say I play my rg351p way more. More user friendly, easy to navigate, easy to set up, plays amazing, great battery life...does everything I want , feels great in the hand and looks amazing. Great premium product. When I saw retro dodo's review of the retroid pocket 2 I thought it would be my number 1, but it doesn't do enough better than the rg351p to justify the cumbersome interface and level if tinkering. Out of those 2 its the rg351p for me by a mile...

    I recently got the PiBoy Dmg, and I'm not gonna lie, it's a little wonky. The shell doesn't seem to fit together properly and the fan is LOUD. Like, distractingly loud, and you can feel it humming in your hand. Set it down on a table, and it gets noticeably louder. I need to open it back up and see what I can do about the fit and the fan noise.
    I think it has a lot of potential, it is a full-fledged Pi4 in there with all the possibilities that go with that. And Experimental Pi is planning to release a new fan kit that will hopefully work better... but after waiting 109 days for it to arrive and paying nearly $200 for the parts, shipping, & a Pi4, I just can't recommend it to everyone at the moment.
    If you like to tinker and futz around with your toys, go for it. If you've already got a bunch of saved games on another Pi (I was able to transfer everything over from my Pi3 no problem), it's the obvious choice.
    I will say that their sales and tech staff have been pretty quick with their responses to my emails, and so I really appreciate that. I think mostly they were caught off guard by how many pre-orders they got initially, but that'll settle down.
    Anyhoo, my 2 cents.

       @Antoine M If you r fan is loud with firmware 1.03 it is probably a fan problem. contact Ex Pi about it. There is also the possibility the fan power wire is being hit by the blades. Which is a decent screen size ? I've heard 2.4 inch is quite small, 3.5 inch is great, how about the 2.8 and 3.0 inch screens ?

    • @Invictus901
      @Invictus901 3 года назад

      Game Boy Micro had a 2" screen. GBA and SP had a 2.9" screen. DS and DS lite had an even 3". So 2.4 falls about halfway between the GB Micro and GBA, 3.5" is bigger than the DS. 2.8" and 3" are pretty much spot-on for comparison to GBA and DS.

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1 3 года назад

      @@Invictus901 Correct. It's also an emulator matter as some old games appear in a smaller area of the screen. I'd say, for some games 2.4" is fine, but for others - such as games from the 80s (Atari,etc) or for Mario kart it's way too small. But all together the Bittboy/PlayGo are just too tiny overall, hard to keep in hand when playing. By the way, the RG300 has a 2.8" screen despite what everybody are saying - including the boxes - the actual screen diagonal is only 2.8" (not 3.0")

    Yep the Retroid 2 caught my eye as well. I dont know anything about these things though. I'm really just looking to play DS and SNES games mostly with the occasional GBA game. I want to see if I can use gameshark on some of these games though. Like with pokemon some of them require trading to evolve which is annoying. I want to find away around that road block.

    What's the benefit of something like these devices over using a smartphone with something like the Razer Kishi controller?
    Is it about not having to download and optimize emulators? Or is it more about not exposing your smartphone?
    I don't really get it, but I'm a bit older than the target audience for these devices I think, so I'm genuinely curious as to the use case scenarios for these.

      You can totally play all this stuff on your phone. Shit, you can run Dolphin on your phone and most of it will run pretty well. The draw here is the form factor; to be able to feel like you're playing on an ACTUAL handheld. I know for myself, personally, playing on my phone, even with a controller, just leaves me open to being distracted. It's much nicer to have a dedicated gaming device. That's not even to mention that it's MUCH cheaper than a phone powerful enough to run these emulators.

    Hey guys, so on this best retro handheld of 2020, the Retroid Pocket 2, how do I get Street Fighter III running at a decent speed? I have three versions of RetroArch (some one that only has a GBA core, plus "RetroArch" that I believe came with the built-in apps and I've updated to 1.9.0 as well as "RetroArch Plus") but fail to install a bunch of the cores, and the arcade (FBA/Neo/MAME anything) cores I have either won't run it or in the case of FB Neo on RetroArch plus, plays at about half speed with huge stutters. Or should I just give up and go back to my Pi4 in a PiBoy DMG, which is the #3 retro handheld of 2020 yet plays all of this flawlessly without errors? (Yes I am being snarky but I'm also actually looking for help) BTW I did the upgrade to Android 8.1 since I read it should help. Should I just give up on Android and switch to Retroid OS?
