You should talk to other console players for your settings bro. Silk is good for strat/tactics but console settings are 100% different as he has more options for bindings on keyboard where as controller doesn't. So things I haven't heard of any good controller pilot being able to find good bindings for for example is the free look. Most console pilots rely on 3rd person rear view (which is broken atm as you can't pitch up or down whilst in it so you can't look around for targets)
If you are on Xbox Series X, and have a Elite Series controller, bind your yaw pedals to the paddles underneath. Afterburner plus yaw the direction of your turn will help in a 2 circle dogfight. (Two circle fight is when you chasing each other in a circle, while one circle is nose to nose turn) if you are on PS5 or don't have an Elite controller, set your sticks to what is comfortable to maintain afterburner and yaw. I leave it default because afterburner and yaw are left stick. Don't completely roll 90° and pitch up. Roll 70° and pitch and yaw the direction you want to turn. Believe it or not, but some basic real life ACM (air combat maneuvering) works in 2042. High and Low Yoyo, energy management (maintain speed, slow is dead), one and two circle fights, etc. For ground targets learn to control it slow. As Silk said in this video, fixed wing aircraft don't like slow speeds do to the loss of lift. So, practice in the solo game modes. That and you can unlock all the weapons and gadgets there. Then look for Air Superiority modes in Portal. The more practice you get, the more skill you will achieve.
Good advice from others, but honestly as a console player you are just never going to be able to get as good as what you see. Like it’s just a physical limitation, when it comes to the strafes and killing infantry, etc., you just cant get that level of accuracy with a stick.
@Riorozen dude change your sensitivities. Max sense is the only way to fly on console... the limits of controller support on bfv is the vehicle sense option which means both tank and plane sense are bound together and you can only be great at one unless you want to change sense every time. Same for 2042 pick one great tanker or great pilot your choice. I chose pilot and therefore never hop in tanks.
As a cranky DCS flyer, even though the high yo-yo is a real maneuver, naming it is more needed for education. Most combat pilots naturally figure out how to use the vertical to bleed airspeed and tighten a turn circle, and only later find out it's called "high yo yo." While I despise gate keeping on the terms, I am hypocritically (ish?) gatekeeping on the idea that BF 2042 jet gameplay is anything like a flight sim: it isn't. Literally nothing in this gameplay is like a serious flight sim or real life combat other than the 3D model. The speed and manuevering are all wrong with everything and I think anyone with eyes can see they are scaling the battlefield size and funging movement substantially with jets. Weapon behavior and employement is far off. Even the visuals in terms of how a pilot "sees" targets and prosecutes them is nothing like how a real jet's avionics works. BF is a game of course. It's meant to be "no training" fun. Far more realistic flight simulation is fun too, but it's more of an adult hobby. You can't not know anything, jump into it and expect rewards without learning. Just being a cranky reminder here.
The Maneuver you mentioned is also called the high Yo Yo in Real Life actually. So basically when your opponent is flying in a horizontal circle, you can fly upwards a bit, to slow down your jet and decrease the Turn-radius. Because you turn tighter now, you can cut in Front of the enemy Jet and shoot at him.

I have always loved BF jets and planes, pretty much mained them in 3 & 4, actually had some good dogfights with you on Iwo Jima a few years back but cannot get the 2042 jets to do anything but be flying potatoes. Kudos on the ability to use them so effectively.

I know you play mnk mostly but I used the rifle aim for helis in this game, I was already really good in them but it was still a game changer, but in jets I struggle to aim at infantry, I think a lot of people would love to see a full controller layout for this
@@NTiell check out silks video on it I can't remember the name but basically you set pitch up to up on right stick, pitch down to down on rs, yaw left to left on rs and yaw right to right on rs. This basically makes the nose of the Heli move the same as it would if you were using a rifle in the game which is great for aim. I have roll left and right set to the left stick, throttle up and down on the triggers, zoom and fire weapons on the bumpers. This set up works really well for fast and accurate aiming without sacrificing mobility. If you're on controller I recommend it highly but it also works really well for m&k
I played a little too much Ace Combat the past few days and my muscle memory for planes in this game was completely shattered lmao Really made me realize how sluggish their handling in 2042 are, i really hope they improve their physics soon
@googleproducts289 the problem is the map borders are too small for the planes to handle realistically. if they were not arcade-y, they should be able to go well past mach 1 and destroy tanks from miles away. Battlefield is an arcade mil-shooter, and no modern plane would be used like they are in Battlefield because of how tiny the maps are. they aren't mobile enough to really be comfortable, its like flying a brick sometimes
I never have matches like this when flying. The enemy team all seem to focus on taking me out, and my team does nothing to take out enemy aircraft. Great flying bro, you’d make me rage quit.
I fly similar and enjoy it a lot. Sometimes it’s pretty hard to troll infantry though when their vehicle drivers/pilots are good. You made it look easy. A good wildcat driver really can shutdown trolling. Nice video. I’m looking forward to all chat next week!

For anyone struggling with input delay on rolling make sure Future Frame Rendering is off. This was causing massive input lag across the board and was mostly noticeable in rolling with the mouse

Pretty sure F14s would be obsolete by 2042. Same with Migs. The US is developing a modernization/sequel to the A-10, but im not sure if it already exists. If you want 2042ish vehicles, I would consider it to be F22s, Eurofighter 2, Su 59 and so on

Yes high yo-yo is a real dogfighting maneuver. High and low yo-yo, and split S, are all useful in most Battlefield games. They are all actual ACM tactics. RUclipsr Growling Sidewinder has a video for DCS that goes over some basic Air Combat Maneuvers. Awesome game play and video!!!
Dice should add a max trigger pull threshold area to bind afterburner to for controller. So 80% pull is max throttle and more than 80% is afterburner. Yes I fly legacy with the same sticks pushes as bfv.
I need to practice in jets, helis especially the nightbird I can fight any air vehicle, most ground vehicles and any infantry but I haven't really used jets much in regular matches. I do like the frogfoot and A10 in portal though
I definitely agree that they need to add more counters and content like aircraft to the game but I also think that they shouldn't focus on adding anything until they fix more important bugs
There is actually a way to dodge mussels without flares, I’ve done it a few times and one time I dodged two consecutive wildcat missles cause my flares were down and it was last ditch effort, if I REMEBER correctly you have to turn into the missles last second and pull to either side
Could you make a "tutorial" video of how to fly the nightbird? Even with the same keybinds you have (mouse / control for pitch), I have no clue what i should be doing with my house or how to stabilize myself to take shots at infantry. I always end up nose diving into the ground
I’m a good pilot but I always struggle running out of room while pushing my mouse up. Sometimes it’s that millisecond that matters when lifting and dragging back down

I think DICE should allow the stealth jet use a tertiary weapon to make more overpowered than before… also the 30mm cannon itself has widely fire spread making too difficult to hit on infantry. And DICE should make minimize the spread after the next patch update, on BF2042
Is it possible to avoid guided missile in 2042 without flares? I’ve seen another dude named hilliarychris do it in bf3 by doing a tight uturn and the missile goes straight as it can’t turn as effectively
I've done it in the nightbird a few times by barrel rolling, back flipping and sometimes just with a sharp turn but it isn't consistent and they were pretty much flukes. You're much better off using flares, cover and flying below 30m in this game unlike some games where specific moves can dodge them or vehicles have an off hitbox you can trick the missile into flying through
Could you possibly do a video on dogfighting? I’m not a very good flier because while I can go for other vehicles I can’t fight another jet as well as getting peppered with AA consistently.
I don't understand how your rolling that smooth. I move the mouse and it barely tilts then it's hard as shit to level back out. Doubled vehicle sens and its still wonky
Yeah it’s a high yo yo. It’d be sick to watch you fly in DCS. I’ve tried it recently and it’s a pilots dream. Definitely different mechanics wise compared to battlefield.

Does anyone have tips on how to make Jets more maneuverable for the time being? I want to get better, but I can't seem to move around without throwing my mouse across the house to turn.
Is that a bug? I've also noticed something like that. I just feel like the jets are generally too responsive. I mainly struggle to get the jet back in a horizontal position. I didn't have that issue before they made some changes to the jets.
More realistic physics, yeah a plane drift on air when manoeuvering. I was able to get some kills on bf3, and can’t fly properly on bf2042 😂 Silk is a different breed.
4th gen often have high AOA (angle of attack or alpha) which is measured in degrees. To visualize it, a cobra is 90 degrees or more of AOA because the nose is pointed 90 degrees away from the aircraft's actual direction of travel It means dice added somewhat of an actual physics engine
Thinking about learning to fly to get rid of helo's. I don't die much for om planes so doesn't piss me off like helo deaths. Please own the other air contacts.
My main issue with flying is that I can't see enemies unless they are spotted or I am close enough. Idk how people see a pixel running from across the map.

As a DCS-Nerd: the "High yo-yo" is indeed a real flight maneuver and a pretty common one as well.

They now have Hydra rockets, which are unnmaned and work for both Infantry and light vehicles

Dice should add a max trigger pull threshold area to bind afterburner to for controller. So 80% pull is max throttle and more than 80% is afterburner. Yes I fly legacy with the same sticks pushes as bfv.
I need to practice in jets, helis especially the nightbird I can fight any air vehicle, most ground vehicles and any infantry but I haven't really used jets much in regular matches. I do like the frogfoot and A10 in portal though
How good is the A-10 it gives me a chubby taking out ground targets so fun 🤌

I definitely agree that they need to add more counters and content like aircraft to the game but I also think that they shouldn't focus on adding anything until they fix more important bugs

Feels like when flying on console it takes forever to slow down. I never get infantry kills with the jets or rather I hardly get kills.

There is actually a way to dodge mussels without flares, I’ve done it a few times and one time I dodged two consecutive wildcat missles cause my flares were down and it was last ditch effort, if I REMEBER correctly you have to turn into the missles last second and pull to either side
Could you make a "tutorial" video of how to fly the nightbird? Even with the same keybinds you have (mouse / control for pitch), I have no clue what i should be doing with my house or how to stabilize myself to take shots at infantry. I always end up nose diving into the ground

I’m a good pilot but I always struggle running out of room while pushing my mouse up. Sometimes it’s that millisecond that matters when lifting and dragging back down

I think DICE should allow the stealth jet use a tertiary weapon to make more overpowered than before…
also the 30mm cannon itself has widely fire spread making too difficult to hit on infantry. And DICE should make minimize the spread after the next patch update, on BF2042
Is it possible to avoid guided missile in 2042 without flares? I’ve seen another dude named hilliarychris do it in bf3 by doing a tight uturn and the missile goes straight as it can’t turn as effectively
I've done it in the nightbird a few times by barrel rolling, back flipping and sometimes just with a sharp turn but it isn't consistent and they were pretty much flukes. You're much better off using flares, cover and flying below 30m in this game unlike some games where specific moves can dodge them or vehicles have an off hitbox you can trick the missile into flying through
It is and I've done it before but it's not really something I practice or fully understand
In bf3 it was possible to just dive straight down and turn into it, idk why but it seems to not like high approach speeds
How do u show the damage done by the cannon?? Its a new feature or u have to activate manually?
In settings, i think under display. You can have the damage numbers show now like on old BF games.

How does one get the opportunity to fly the jet? Is it just a mad dash at the beginning to see who grabs a vehicle? Because I literally never get one.
Could you possibly do a video on dogfighting? I’m not a very good flier because while I can go for other vehicles I can’t fight another jet as well as getting peppered with AA consistently.
How to you aim in 3rd person while shooting at troops? Are you using the mouse? Your flying looks different from using wasd and arrow keys

Does anyone have tips on how to make Jets more maneuverable for the time being? I want to get better, but I can't seem to move around without throwing my mouse across the house to turn.
I've noticed a weird bug where the roll sense on KBM starts off super responsive, then something triggers it to lose sensitivity.
Is that a bug? I've also noticed something like that. I just feel like the jets are generally too responsive. I mainly struggle to get the jet back in a horizontal position.
I didn't have that issue before they made some changes to the jets.

Silk is a different breed.
4th gen often have high AOA (angle of attack or alpha) which is measured in degrees. To visualize it, a cobra is 90 degrees or more of AOA because the nose is pointed 90 degrees away from the aircraft's actual direction of travel
It means dice added somewhat of an actual physics engine

My main issue with flying is that I can't see enemies unless they are spotted or I am close enough. Idk how people see a pixel running from across the map.
