Feel like the pods might've been ok if they came with the jets at launch, when people hadn't mastered aiming with the guns and air to ground wasn't really doable against infantry. But like the nightbird, once you start hitting your shots, the utility of other secondary weapons like the ATGM is just better for farming.
The pods suffer from the same problem that the attack heli vehicle pods suffer from btw: They do not do *any* splash damage whatsoever to vehicles so to get any damage they must be direct impacts, which is made especially difficult due to how they are differently designed to launch from the vehicle in this game (see below) Like the AH pods, they launch from *both* sides of the vehicles wings, alternating between each shot, so every other pod is shot from an angle that is opposite and slightly different from the last leading to the wild inconsistency in even hitting shots that look lined up. It's also more pronounced in the jet when you're moving at such a fast speed and cannot slow down to adjust your aim for every other shot, unlike the attack helicopter where you can hover. I believe in BF3/4 the pods were always launched directly out of the front of the vehicle (or at least pointed to go that way at a slight convergence) and that is what they should change for this game. I'd rather take a sequential reload than just having to ammo dump just to get that full stack back. That's just my preference but the damage surely can be changed. It should definitely be more than what they have now
Great video! I agree, new rocket pods are mediocre against heavily armored ground vehicles but surprisingly good against air (except for the nightbird). They buffed the 30mm cannon by the way - more fun to use imo because it's also very effective vs heavy ground vehicles (but useless vs infantry).
Also, wildcat AA missiles have had pretty much unlimited vertical range for months now, which grinds my gears. Perhaps DICE might consider your feedback, they totally ignored my complaints about this issue on the battlefield ea forums
They need to enlarge the air space for the jet man, some maps there’s literally no breathing room from AA wildcat which has a longer range than the maps playable area 😂
I really hope next bf would actually make transport vehicles do what they are supposed to do, as long with anything else. I was just playing squad today and ik that game is hardcore but it’s so cool how the transport helis do their job and take a platoon to a nearby forest tree line and then go take off to do some more transport runs, it’s not an undercover ac-130 with crazy explosive guns mounted on the vehicle, it has like a mounted lmg on the sides and that’s it.
I think dice knew what they were doing with the output damage on the rocket pods, back in bf3 the jets could literally destroy the enemy team due to how strong the rocket pods were. Maybe that's why they made them weaker in this game.
Must have been a PC thing, because you couldn't even see infantry at 720p on console, and the spotting distance wouldn't mark them until you were nearly hitting the ground.
I'm fine with this. I don't fancy getting fuked over by a jet player and a littlebird. air vehicles are already insane. Personal AA is almost useless against a skilled pilot.
@@TheDAZ1001 Jets are meant to primarily counter other aircraft than focus on ground vehicles. To snipe players from a distance with a canon and still wanting more buff makes no sense. AA tanks aren’t as broken when they have to deal with air and ground threats outside player spawn. Which is why many camp at spawn, but for jet players this is beneficial bc they are to scared to engage jets, giving the jet more control over the map zone.
i think the rocket pods are fantastic! i just wish they had a bit higher range. the current 400m is just too low. i think increasing it to 550m or something would be better, cuse if you wanna do any real damage, you have to commit right at 400m range, then know exactly when to pull up without crashing, which is still pretty difficult considering their actual controls are still pretty floaty and yes there are a few clips where it looks like they do terribly, like at 4:12, but because of their short range, and that they blow up mid air when reaching it, it looks like they hit something, and its sometimes hard in this game to see if an explosion is on the ground or mid air and yes you do make a great point. they say they dont want people engaging at long range, while also adding a railgun tank with zero bullet drop,
Big issue with having to commit at such a short range is that your movement is very telegraphed and you have a very big hitbox. In a world with LATV-4 recons with insane flack cannons, wildcats, lizzles and normal rockets, it's just very risky
@@skarppe5695 yep. and thats the point im tryna make. people say the nightbird is easier to die, it but that thing can move in a full 360 degree direction, jets have both weak HP, and harder to control than the nightbird. hell that chopper is often better than the jet since their top speed is almost the same as the jets, their miniguns have amazing range, bullet speed, accuracy and no bullet drop, while also having the exact same AGMs with no downsides. i often find myself getting chased down by a dinky little chopper picking away at my HP from across the map, its really frustrating compared to the jets 25mm which has slower bullet speed, top that with jets being hard to aim with it general, and the gun's horrific spread at range, which is often larger than the nightbird's hitbox. pair that with the same AGMs with a range that would make sense on a chopper, but on a jet its just too short

I think they should either increase the number of rocket pods, or the regen (also range/accuracy). If they increase the damage, I can very clearly see it becoming really annoying to deal with a team using a little bird, a jet, and their own AA to get easy air superiority, especially now with the 35mm on the AA. Alternatively they could make 2 separate pods, one for infantry and one for vehicles, or even just give the jets access to the attack heli's smart missiles. One last option they could do is of course add in JDAMs using the bomb model from the stealth heli, but I would be careful not to go too overboard with it.
i think giving them 20 rounds and increasing the fire rate would be a good start, otherwise maybe just increase the fire rate and splash radius? it just seems so inconsistent against infantry especially when theres 2 guys right on top of each other and you only get one of them

It definitely seems like part of their design philosophy is to **not** allow time to use more than one armament per pass. I remember in BF3 you would commit rockets onto a vehicle early and still had a few seconds to commit the cannon to something. Of course, that was also when you could slow down without falling like a brick.

Really sad they just slapped he rocket pods from the little bird on to the jet, they work some what well on the scout as your basically in there face where as a jet you need the range to deal with your targets hope they do a quick buff to accuracy and damage
I think the issue with jet balance is that if you make the equipment on them really powerful a good jet pilot or 2 good jet pilots can dominate the server. As a jet pilot that situation is really fun and rewarding but for the 32 other players it is really frustrating. On the reverse end if the jets are really weak it is frustrating for the pilots because they feel useless and it is really difficult to find a middle ground.
15:30 Same with the new 35mm dual AA cannon for the Wildcat but it's even stronger. They need to remove the new AA stuff. I can't imagine how new players are even supposed to learn how to fly.

Honestly the Jets are good enough for a while already. If you have a good Jet pilot on your team it's nearly a garanteed win. There is no other single vehicle that has that big of an impact on the battle with a pilot who knows what he's doing. So really i'm pretty fine with them not getting another "good" weapon.
i did find them pretty useful against fast moving infantry or somewhat loosely compact groups, but against individuals or campers, the 25mm is probably better they absolutely melt other choppers if you get the hits on them tho
My experience with them has been fairly good. I like to use the F-35 as a mobile helicopter. I always wanted rocket pods with the planes and wasn't expecting to get them this update, so I was pleasantly surprised. But I've noticed they're great for large clusters of enemies. Lightly armored vehicles as well. But I've noticed the anti-helicopter role is pretty great with them. I also would take out the 30mm so I can manage against enemy armor. Though at that point it might just be best to take out the atgms instead.
The Rocket Pods would be better if there was a Variant to choose from, Either HE or Armor Piercing. Especially when they are intended for attacking Vehicles. Typical Dice doing a "Nerf / Buff" Ratio again... IMO; I would of been more satisfied knowing that the 30MM Deserves a buff & Accuracy increase to affect specifically vehicles. (Since the Round does nothing to Infantry.) I actually wonder why Dice Scrapped that idea of having a "Bomber" Jet. They mentioned that they were going to add the B-21 or the UCAV Bomber they "Tease" in the beginning of the load up screen. or at least Add some more 'Drones' to the game to support the player. I would of preferred to see a new Futuristic Attack Jet to keep the Traditional Battlefield Vibe & add a secondary Wingman for each team. (Just the 1 slot for Jets is not very entertaining.) Lastly, I really wish they would knock off the "Out-of-Bounds" Ratio... They Rework the Maps like Crazy only to Shorten & Shrink the battlefield making the maps "Tiny" If I wanted to play "Tiny" Maps.. I would play Team Death Match. I like Larger Maps & Fighter Jets, Helicopters... I just don't know who is decisions are being made... But who ever is the Lead seems not to know a single thing about the "battlefield Formula" Consider myself a tad it Salty, Because I am an extreme big fan of Battlefield, Just disappointed they release "Rocket Pods" so late in the Seasons.

a bit more damage to armoured targets as well as better accuracy sounds good but not a lot of splash damage and not big damage to infantry is a good balancing choice
Nice vid. I don't think I've changed any of my movement or aiming settings, but I all of a sudden don't have any mouse input when aiming on jets. I've tried tweaking a bunch of my settings but nothing seems to work. Thoughts?
13:22 the reason why yhey so wierd at aiming is because jets are known to have "lag in dog fights or when strafing but the technology now days is advanced enough to calculate that for you but doesnt do it in bf2042 Go look up how angle of attack works and how it impacts your guns and especially with rocket pods it affects it alot
great video. I've become a fairly decent flyer with the jet, and my aim with the cannons isn't bad either. I still have a hard time in dogfights though, I can never seem to be able to get behind an enemy or get em off my tail.
Yooooo never thought of using them on planes damn. Also yeah they’re so good on wildcats. Hitting all rockets, potential to do 70 damage in one strafe.
I think the reason they aren't accurate might be because they took the realistic approach and had them come off the wings, so you need tk adjust a little
Now i've been on Battlefield since the 4 came out and just saw some Bf3 gameplays that made me enjoy the game, i'm really affectionate to the game and their style, especially the aircraft gameplay that i always enjoyed even with Helis. But they really messed with missiles and weapons of this game that makes me kinda hope they will eventually fix the game or at least release a new one where you can enjoy a classic and full Bf experience, destruction included, as i said i played since the 4 and im not here to say what waw good or bad about this last game, i just say they should just take examples of what players really enjoyed of the last games and try to put it in 2042 not only with Portal, anyway good F-35 gameplay! I really love that jet!
Edit: Youre piloting skills are phenomenal btw I miss flying in bf3 and 4. Four had air superiority and i really got to test my skills and have the best of times flying. But as the game mode died, so did my passion for flying in the game. Now im terrorize people in tanks 😂
idk if im crazy but in xbox the jet feels a bit sluggish now, like the sticks feel entirely different. The camera rework was good, and the rocket launchers are absolutely godlike
Does anyone else remember a very large desert map and did it get like straight removed I swear in the beginning it exist and was impossible to play on no matter what side you were on large AF open north flag A and in the mountains two other awful fighting spots lmao I completely forgot till seeing this new map from air and getting confused but thinking about it haven't seen that map since season 1

Sometimes im really wondering what they are doing... DICE... I really tried hard to find an use to these rockets but finally went back to the AGM (and we dont even speak about the anti hacking system lol)
I dont think the jets need any more help against ground vehicles just because most of them cant even fight back at all and you can just loop above them again and again if there is no wildcat
When I first unlocked I thought they were good but then, the more and more I use them I realized that the range is lacking as you mentioned. Feels like every single missile spread is super random and they go whenever they want to go. Splash damage is poor as well. The reload is completely uncalled for and not up par with the other battlefield games. Overall, if they reduce the spread, increase the damage by at least 10 to 15% they can be more useful. I can tolerate the reload mechanic.

i just think its crazy air vehicles dont feel stronger or arnt stronger. i barely die to jets or helicopters especially when im infantry. even if a heli on a team goes 120 and 0 assuming there playing 32v32 does dying maybe 4 times in a game from a heli pilot that has earned his stripes really worth buffing everything to take them out and mitigating there damage output so heavily?
Jets finally have purpose. In BFV I could fly a plane for HOURS and absolutely destroy with it, it was so fun because you could actually change the tide of the battle. The jets in this game were so lack luster and rocket pods fixed it. You should be scared of jets. I would never fly them because they were practically useless.
As expected: A half arsed addition to the game. I feel they need to buff air vehicles but also make them easier to kill. They're now balancing vehicles around the top 5% of players like yourself so they aren't as OP. But i do hate how they remove incentives of teamwork, for example: A tracer dart + guided missile should be un flareable.

The Su-57 just can pull more AoA. That's why it feels different.
The SU has better handling then f-35 n lighter in the game. The f-35 hovers so it’s kinda cheap to stall out ur jet but I like the SU better

They should have put 6 or 8 off the anti vehicle rockets from the attack heli on the jet.

IMO; I would of been more satisfied knowing that the 30MM Deserves a buff & Accuracy increase to affect specifically vehicles. (Since the Round does nothing to Infantry.)
I actually wonder why Dice Scrapped that idea of having a "Bomber" Jet. They mentioned that they were going to add the B-21 or the UCAV Bomber they "Tease" in the beginning of the load up screen. or at least Add some more 'Drones' to the game to support the player. I would of preferred to see a new Futuristic Attack Jet to keep the Traditional Battlefield Vibe & add a secondary Wingman for each team. (Just the 1 slot for Jets is not very entertaining.)
Lastly, I really wish they would knock off the "Out-of-Bounds" Ratio... They Rework the Maps like Crazy only to Shorten & Shrink the battlefield making the maps "Tiny" If I wanted to play "Tiny" Maps.. I would play Team Death Match. I like Larger Maps & Fighter Jets, Helicopters... I just don't know who is decisions are being made... But who ever is the Lead seems not to know a single thing about the "battlefield Formula" Consider myself a tad it Salty, Because I am an extreme big fan of Battlefield, Just disappointed they release "Rocket Pods" so late in the Seasons.
I started playing 2042 again and had a blast. All good want now is more maps

a bit more damage to armoured targets as well as better accuracy sounds good but not a lot of splash damage and not big damage to infantry is a good balancing choice
Nice vid. I don't think I've changed any of my movement or aiming settings, but I all of a sudden don't have any mouse input when aiming on jets. I've tried tweaking a bunch of my settings but nothing seems to work. Thoughts?
13:22 the reason why yhey so wierd at aiming is because jets are known to have "lag in dog fights or when strafing but the technology now days is advanced enough to calculate that for you but doesnt do it in bf2042
Go look up how angle of attack works and how it impacts your guns and especially with rocket pods it affects it alot
The rocket pods either they have splash dmg or or more range, precise and some more dmg such as 55dmg to a tank if you dump the whole rockets
otherwise they are kind of useless, so resuming make like the bf3 version
great video. I've become a fairly decent flyer with the jet, and my aim with the cannons isn't bad either. I still have a hard time in dogfights though, I can never seem to be able to get behind an enemy or get em off my tail.

Yooooo never thought of using them on planes damn. Also yeah they’re so good on wildcats. Hitting all rockets, potential to do 70 damage in one strafe.
Until you nosedive into the ground. Firing 2 AGMs is faster and more efficient.
Its not even possible to hit all of the rockets without crashing on the ground because the range is terrible
I think the reason they aren't accurate might be because they took the realistic approach and had them come off the wings, so you need tk adjust a little
Now i've been on Battlefield since the 4 came out and just saw some Bf3 gameplays that made me enjoy the game, i'm really affectionate to the game and their style, especially the aircraft gameplay that i always enjoyed even with Helis. But they really messed with missiles and weapons of this game that makes me kinda hope they will eventually fix the game or at least release a new one where you can enjoy a classic and full Bf experience, destruction included, as i said i played since the 4 and im not here to say what waw good or bad about this last game, i just say they should just take examples of what players really enjoyed of the last games and try to put it in 2042 not only with Portal, anyway good F-35 gameplay! I really love that jet!

I miss flying in bf3 and 4. Four had air superiority and i really got to test my skills and have the best of times flying. But as the game mode died, so did my passion for flying in the game. Now im terrorize people in tanks 😂

idk if im crazy but in xbox the jet feels a bit sluggish now, like the sticks feel entirely different. The camera rework was good, and the rocket launchers are absolutely godlike

Does anyone else remember a very large desert map and did it get like straight removed I swear in the beginning it exist and was impossible to play on no matter what side you were on large AF open north flag A and in the mountains two other awful fighting spots lmao I completely forgot till seeing this new map from air and getting confused but thinking about it haven't seen that map since season 1

The new rocket pod attack has a too short range upon joining. It should be extended👍🏻
Both the rocket pods and the 30mm are disappointing. It takes more 30mm shots than 25mm to down infantry
Haven't played BF2042 yet. Is the max jet speed still 423 with afterburn? Descending doesn't count. I'm talking about straight flying.

The dispersion is a bit too much for me. Especially considering the lack of splash damage
I dont think the jets need any more help against ground vehicles just because most of them cant even fight back at all and you can just loop above them again and again if there is no wildcat
When I first unlocked I thought they were good but then, the more and more I use them I realized that the range is lacking as you mentioned. Feels like every single missile spread is super random and they go whenever they want to go. Splash damage is poor as well. The reload is completely uncalled for and not up par with the other battlefield games. Overall, if they reduce the spread, increase the damage by at least 10 to 15% they can be more useful. I can tolerate the reload mechanic.

i just think its crazy air vehicles dont feel stronger or arnt stronger. i barely die to jets or helicopters especially when im infantry. even if a heli on a team goes 120 and 0 assuming there playing 32v32 does dying maybe 4 times in a game from a heli pilot that has earned his stripes really worth buffing everything to take them out and mitigating there damage output so heavily?
They could nerv the LATV Flack a bit vs Air and boost it vs ground targets. it is absolutely useless vs foot soldiers.
Jets finally have purpose. In BFV I could fly a plane for HOURS and absolutely destroy with it, it was so fun because you could actually change the tide of the battle. The jets in this game were so lack luster and rocket pods fixed it. You should be scared of jets. I would never fly them because they were practically useless.

As expected: A half arsed addition to the game. I feel they need to buff air vehicles but also make them easier to kill.
They're now balancing vehicles around the top 5% of players like yourself so they aren't as OP.
But i do hate how they remove incentives of teamwork, for example: A tracer dart + guided missile should be un flareable.
And now, pods will get 600m range... will be easier to use
