It's about darn time am I right? So many have been begging for a fursuit head tutorial so here ya go! =D
This was filmed at the beginning of the year and I only got around to editing it this week.
We had so much fun making this incredible monkey character, there where a lot of new things tried out on this suit over all.

I love your tutorial videos! When I told people I wanted to make my own suit they kind of laughed at me and told me it would be much too hard for me to do. However, after watching this video it gave me a lot of motivation to try and make my own fursuit! Thank you Sparky! :)

You ever tried being a fursuit maker with cats? They like to *eat the foam.* I've even found it in the cat food dishes where they've hidden it.
It's utterly terrifying. Especially with carpet.
Once you make your first cut of foam, you're done. You're cursed. Your carpets or clothes or anything will never be free of foam ever again.
It is. However, foam is not nearly as bad as the faux fur sheds. It's horrific.
I was in the middle of class... When I saw this, I had to bite my tongue to prevent myself from screaming... Omg, I've been waiting for this! Thanks so much!!!!

I'm so sad my mom threw away my fursuit head because she said it was making a mess in my room
I wish she knew what it was and that I worked really hard on it I still wasn't finished but I loved it and that's one of the reasons I hid it under my bed I don't have anymore foam left so I can't make another one but I do still have the ears which I can use to make a headband maybe a tail but I highly doubt I'll be able too

Is there a possibility you'll do a tutorial like this for canines and felines? I love your technique and just wonder how you make canines or felines with this technique as they have longer muzzles.
Study the shape of the cat and dog and think of how the profile curves and the bridge of the nose shape. Build and carve until you reach your base goal

As far as I know, for species with longer muzzles, the process is mainly the same, aside from the fact that instead of layering foam for the muzzle, you have one piece trimmed to be the 3 shape, that goes into the head, and then you flesh it out, if that makes sense? So a singular piece of foam attached the other way around, instead of many.
If you don't know how to make the muzzle then buy one online.Thats what I did😃

maybe if you haven´t already shown somewhere, for another goodtoknow, how you would build a bigger/longer wiggly/movable tail... i need one for my suit and i kinda struggle with finding a good solution for a raptor-like tail that still feels soft and looks smooth.
I find pool noodles work really well! =D
You can do a plain pool noodle or you can chop some of the sides out so it flexes more, but make sure you have a good shape on it so the tail does not end up lumpy, even with fur
You should make a tutorial on how to make moving jaws
Nice tutorial, can be helpful in the future! I love how you're doing the tutorial on a different animal instead of the ones I've seen already. We sure need more of those around.
It's beautiful! Do you think sometime in the future, you could make another tutorial but for animals with longer snouts? Though some tutorials already exist, they typically don't go into depth and are just a giant time lapse with voiceover.

yo! for me i just make the eyeholes pretty deep (but i use thin foam for the bucket-- you can see how i make my suits in a video that i made called "Fazendo uma cabeça de fursuit") and adjust them so the eyes fit in there and make a nice 3d effect ^^ (not sure if relevant but the eyes of the suit touch my face). i hope that helps a bit!
Melon Dew I know follow me eye paintings you must have equal whites around each sides of the iris I assume it's the same logic for the most part

I.Get a cup and cut the bottom off (LEAVE THE EDGE UNCUT)
2.Get the bottom and make shure the eye is roughly the same size
3.Cut the top of the cup smaller
4.Glue the eyes to the edge of the cup (Inside big hanging in)
5.Your all done!
P.S you can paint the inside of the cup to make it look more unnoticeable that you used a cup.
Make sure that the outside of the eye ( I always use foamies then line them ) is the right shape then the inch ridge around the iris needs to sit where it's supposed to be . To get the full follow me effect make sure the eyes are covered all the way around and look placed in the hole and not shooting out of the head

Why not? Build your own or if you have the money commission one, they are heaps of fun to play in at any age!

Pinching the foam where the eyes should be is actually a really good idea. I used to just jab a Sharpie where my eye was, but that seems easier.

typically id say just make the jaw seperate, or cut it out and hinge it later on.

Cheaper to make yourself for sure; all you pay for is raw materials. Commissioning = paying more than material cost b/c you're paying for artist's time and effort, plus usually shipping!
Irisa Anne it's much cheaper to make one because you're buying material and not paying extra money and you can make a budget. But it's a lot of labor

sculpy clay, 3d print object, carve with metal or wood, all the ways, clay is usually the easiest i think for beginners
I go to my local craft store, I buy plastic rings of the selected size, slice it at one spot. Then, kind of pry it open, then poke a hole in the ear. Pry open the piercing, feed it through the hole, hide the part you sliced, and boom. Piercings. However, you have to paint the piercings if you want another color with like acrylic paint.

Maybe design your own suit, not necessarily make one but save money until you’re older/ living on your own sort of thing so you can make or buy one. Look at other suits, get a good idea on how to make them, maybe try some foam carving so you get a good idea on what you’ll be facing when you make a full or partial suit. Also, maybe start with some feet or paws?? It wouldn’t take much foam or as much money or times as doing anything more but still lets you have an idea of making fursuits. Hope this helps and good luck!!

Ahhh, I’ve recently come across these tutorial videos and I’m already in love, Well platonically. Your humorous in your videos, instead of just making the head, and it really adds a fun aspect to watching these videos! I’ve been always so afraid to make a fur suit or even a head, if it would turn out bad, but these videos have pushed me toward the idea.
