    That brings a tear. Growing up in Holland Village, this newsstand and it's wide variety of magazines brings many memories throughout my life... magazines i read for leisure, magazines I bought for that lazy beach vacation, magazines to inspire home renovation... I hope in the end, there will not be an end to print, and there's a place for both print and digital media.

    Thank you, Mr. Thambi and to your father as well.
    For over twenty years of my life, through childhood right until my late twenties, your magazine store had been a huge part of my life.
    It is a sad day for me as i watched this video.
    Thank you once again, sir.

      There is still a demand for physical magazines. Demand and supply. Publishers would stop printing if there is no demand. Older people would buy magazines. Specific places would need magazines e.g. Prisons as mentioned in the video. There are also some types of magazines that are collectible.

    • @johanea
      @johanea 18 дней назад

      @@chrisl9934 The demand is dying out fast.
      In the past, and you don’t need to go back too many years relatively speaking, you would see shops selling magazines quite frequently.
      Some larger and some smaller, but still around.
      Today those shops are few and far apart.
      Beside the Holland V. shop I can only think of libraries, tourist spots and Changi which sells magazines and with somewhat large selection of magazines.
      Plus one ancient Aunty selling newspapers below my block.
      This trade is dying out, I’d say it is dead already, and any shop ONLY selling magazines is doomed to die.
      Ppl don’t appreciate printed stuff anymore unless it is legal tender :o)

    There were at least 3 HDB coffeeshops that transacted for 8-figure sums in the first half of 2022, including the coffeeshops located at 848 Yishun Street 81 and another at 201 Tampines Street 21 which transacted for $40 million and $41.68 million, respectively. This has translated into even higher food prices for the patrons as stall holders had to increase prices on their cooked dishes with the new rents almost doubling.
