Honestly, no exaggeration, Karl Pilkington is a national treasure. Ricky might've created The Office and Extras and done a lot of great comedy and ruffled a few celebrity feathers in Hollywood, but his best ever contribution to the world was introducing the world to the wondrous and magnificent King Karl Pilkington

Yeah, pretty much. I’d imagine Gervais made a few mental notes about what subjects to talk about, (I’m sure he had back sack and crack prepared) but Karl didn’t have a clue, he was just being Karl.

He's Karl Pilkington. He was a producer for Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's radio show. They both found him funny so got him talking on the show and used to try and annoy him constantly. They've been friends ever since. Check out "The Ricky Gervais Show" - its' basically just clips of them laughing at the crazy things Karl Pilkington says. :D

There’s this Tv show called ‘An Idiot Abroad’ that’s got Karl and Ricky in (Karl’s the ‘idiot’) where he sends Karl travelling to various places he knows he’ll hate just because Karl complains about everything, I’d highly recommend it, it’s proper funny

Karl Pilkington. He is hilarious. He worked on radio with Ricky Gervais years ago and has stayed with him ever since. Hes not a character, hes just very odd. You should check out The Ricky Gervais show

Ever since meeting Karl on the xfm radio show, Ricky Gervais has been on a quest to expose the world to Karl Pilkington. It's so funny listening to that show and hear Gevais crack up every other minute. I listen to those episodes every time i do chores around the house and laugh my ass off every time. Especially Karl's Diary is amazing, they got him to legit write a diary and he filled it with trivial nonsense and it's a true masterpiece.
He first got Karl on film as a bonus feature on his comedy special dvd. It's called Meet Karl Pilkington i believe and it's hilarious. Also 20 minutes long but just as worth it as this.

Ah your first ever time seeing Karl Pilkington and you didn’t even know it was coming, what a treat ! And great way to first see him. Ricky discovered him whilst working on a radio show In his early career and was fascinated by his take on life and the way he comes out with random stuff. If you want to see more of him check out “idiot abroad” Ricky sends him all over the world and it’s hilarious! Great reaction as always !

You guys need to watch Derek. Ricky Gervais plays a guy with autism that lives with the old folks in an elderly folks' home. Karl ends up being the janitor/bus driver/handy-man. It's an incredibly funny show, and the storytelling in it will make you cry. I recently watched probably the most powerful episode in the entire series (Ricky sees his dad for the first time in years) and it ruined me. Absolute blubbering mess, and I'm a 32 yr old guy. I can't recommend the show enough. The humour is amazing, and the dialogue is just incredible. It's easily one of my favourite shows.
Karl is an absolute pot of gold. There are podcasts from like 10+ years ago where they discuss certain topics. It's called "Ricky Gervais guide to....." and each episode is like Medicine, The Future, Earth, Philosophy, etc. There's hours of entertainment. Ricky and Stephen Merchant pitch questions and scenarios to Karl. And he just talks about them. You won't believe some of the things he thinks/says. I think you guys would really enjoy listening to them.

No person has brought more joy to my life than Karl. I discovered him on the XFM shows when I was around 18 and have been listening to the XFM shows and podcasts every single night for maybe the past 15 years. I know them almost word for word and still laugh. Half of Rickys career is taken from things Karl has said over the years. Karl Pilkington is absolutely one of the funniest men of all time. He's been in loads of things over the last decade or so....'An Idiot Abroad', 'The Moaning of Life' (both sort of travel shows where Ricky and Stee make him go to places around the world they know he'll hate).....He's been in 'Derek' (another one of Ricky's self-penned and directed shows) and he now has his own comedy series on Sky called 'Sick of It' (He wrote that himself and stars as the main character) :-)
Very true what you said about customers. I worked with selling electronics for many years, in store. Some people really just want you to tell them what they need and don't even bother to try and think for themselves. Good customers though, since you can pick and choose and sell something with good margin 😂

So glad you guys discovered Karl by accident. He's hillarious. I've listened to every episode of their old XFM radio show and podcast multiple times, it's just ideal to listen to when you're doing some gardening or whatever. Besides their animated podcast clips there's also some shorts on youtube with Karl. Like "meet Karl Pilkington" or "Karl Pilkington made to watch brokeback mountain", perfects shorts to react to.
Karl was also in Derek..aswell as An Idiot Abroad,he did The Moaning of Life..and had a sitcom called Sick of it...
He's in a 1994 movie called Vampire Sucks. He owns a pub in the local village.

I say you should check out The Ricky Gervais Show. It's cartoon drawings in the style of the Flintstones but it's put over the audio recorded during their radio show they had for a few years.
I just want to say, I was born and raised just a few miles from where Ricky was. I still live there. I'm as working class as Ricky too. Same cultural influences, same economic environment, same pressure to gob and fart at the urinal or be called a p**f. Peas in a pod mate. But I do not pronounce the word "bald" like "bold", and have never known anyone who did. Maybe it was unique to Ricky's neighbourhood. But if anyone here thinks it's normal for the region, or social class, or both, I don't know what you're talking about son.

Karl Pilkington was working on a radio show called XFM with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. He was orginally the shows producer, but he was so natually funny that Rick and Stephen made him part of the radio show. They all then starred in an animated series The Ricky Gervais show.
If you like Karl and Ricky's interaction then I would TOTAL RECOMMEND! The Ricky Gervais show. It is one of the best and well liked pod casts on this planet and it has given me a great deal of entertainment.
By the way Karl is not an actor or comedian he's just naturally like that.
