  • It's March 2000 and i'm in the North West. Although now in the privatisation era, all traction apart from a class 66 locomotive, is ex BR. We start at Warrington Bank Quay with classes 20, 37, 47, 66 & 92 on parcels, freight and a test train. Next we're at Manchester Piccadilly, and see loco classes 37, 57 plus class 101 Met-Cam & 158 Sprinter DMU's. Great video! Especially the Class 101. They were pretty old, even back then, but they kept them in tip- top shape.

Hard to believe all that variety was still to be found as recently as 2000... this video has captured the dying moments of proper trains...

The north west always had everyone else's cast offs ,some of the stuff cobbled together to run a service was definately "unique"
Class 101 was still better than the pacers though something to do with spring seats and *ahem*
      bogeys😉
