      Nick, I'm 24 years old and both my parents passed away from lung cancer. My mom was first and was the hardest experience because she was sick for months and I had to watch her wither away in the hospital. I love your brand, I love your mental state, and I love your perseverance. My mother passed a little over 2 years ago and my father this last May. I followed you through your iron man training as I went through my training for the Spartan Beast - my first half marathon and first race over a 5k. I've now decided that I'm going to strive to qualify for Boston and I start my level one training this coming Tuesday. Thank you for being an inspiration and forming this community. I wish you all the best training for Boston this time around as I will be training too although I won't have my qualifying race until Phoenix 2021. I'll be completing the Spartan Trifecta next year and looking towards hitting my first marathon as well as my first ultra (50k) next year as this was my first goal. Keep doing you -- I'll be looking for you in future Bostons and maybe Badwater down the road. Cheers, Mate.
      -- Cole

    Hi Nick, I’m from the UK and I’ve been watching your videos since your Korea days. I don’t usually write comments on RUclips, but this video really moved me. I’m so sorry for your loss. But, turning that into something so positive - your Ironman, this amazingly put together video and putting a new meaning to ‘embracing the suck’ - you made your mother and everyone else around you proud. And as that’s the legacy she’s left behind on you, I hope you go on to inspire others to go and do the same.

    Thank you for this video. I lost my mom 8/16/2019 to renal cancer, renal failure, congestive heart failure. I was her caretaker for the past year and watched her suffer terribly. I have been a subscriber for quite some time now and have been moved by your ability to discipline yourself. I really believe there is nothing you can't do once you make up your mind. Having said that, would you consider doing a video or a video series of helping others to develop their brain muscle so to speak, to becoming a disciplined human being, such as yourself. I feel like you could really help a lot of people including myself how to develop that level of discipline. Congratulations on your achievement. I can't wait to see what you do next. Thanks again Nick for being an inspiration to so many people!♥

      The race is on march 7th. I am new to the Super long distance running thing so if anyone has any tips I would appreciate it. I have a good training plan but I am clueless on what to do for nutrition.

    • @JohnJehl
      @JohnJehl 4 года назад +4

      stephen carlson I ran my first half marathon a few months ago (also inspired by Nick actually)! I think it really just comes down to conditioning. If you’re following a training program you’ll do great, just stick to it and it’ll get you conditioned. you just gotta power through if it gets tough!
      For a half marathon nutrition isn’t as vital as longer distances like a full marathon. I’d just make sure to eat relatively healthy foods, and foods you’re used to. Also since you’ll be running more with a training plan, you’ll probably need to eat more than usual just to make up for those burned calories from running.
      Hope this helps!

    • @peterjsmcleod3341
      @peterjsmcleod3341 4 года назад +1

      stephen carlson I’ve done quite a few half’s and one full marathon. Try and follow a programme if you can and stick to it and you’ll be fine. Make sure you practice getting you fluids and fuel in and get it nailed down, try different gels too. Most of all, have fun as it’s a brilliant experience! Best of luck.

    I discovered this man's videos about a week ago. I watched his final few Iron man prep videos and I've just watched this fantastic short film. I'm emotional. I feel this natural high coursing through me. Nick, you are truly one of the most inspirational people I've ever watched. You're living testament to dedication and breaking barriers that you decide to set for yourself. I've never met you but I feel incredibly proud. It's time for me to flick the switch on, and then break it. Thank you for your content, if it's helping me then I'm certain it's helping thousands of others. Thank you from the UK.

    Ironman is one of the most challenging things a human can do. I've done a half ironman and few marathons and i cannot imagine trying to do those things carrying around all that weight and muscle. Its exponentially harder to do it when you are a big muscular dude. If you look at the top pros in this sport, they are all 150lbs of super lean athletes, in order to go fast and for long time, you have to be very light, so i salute you.

    • @yettamon956
      @yettamon956 4 года назад +4

      @Johnny Mad Dog this is the game of Efficiency. The heavy he is, the less he has. the strength he has( muscle fibre type 2a or 2b), is nothing to do with this sport mostly.

      This guy is right. A person carrying around more weight burns more calories than a person carrying around less weight for this marathon. Take this analogy for example, if I gave you one tank of fuel for your toyota prius or truck, which one would you think would be able to make it farther using just one gallon of fuel?

    • @yettamon956

    2018.2: paragliding accident, doctor said there's 25% risk that I can't walk anymore, so I search what is the hardest sport and want to finish it, I sign up a 70.3(113km) game but before the race day, I found It's a ironman game, I'm not sure I can finish it but I will try my best, so,2019.9: I became ironman(penghu, Taiwan, 226km)
    2019.10: moto accident & I watching your video in hospital now
