I tell you what I just got one of these bad boys and to anyone doubting its quality it is an absolute pleasure to play and the neck is outstandingly easy to play. The build quality is great and these are not the words of someone just learning to play. I've been playing for 10 years and I can honestly say that it is one of the nice acoustics I have ever played and certainly for the money the best I've ever played.
If you have a choice? The Epiphone Dove man. It was my 2nd guitar and I still play it to this day its an amazing guitar its the next best thing to a Gibson Dove.
I brought an Epiphone Dove Pro a few weeks ago and its great for finger picking and flat picking. Plugged in is sounds great through a PA at the folk clubs I go to. It's made three of my other guitars redundant.
So i was sitting yesterday in a guitarshop in frankfurt germany and i tried out some sigmas, fenders, corts, but also some gibson guitars and epiphone. when i did that i took the guitars from the guitar stands without looking first what they instrument costs, i just let decide my ears for sound and my fingers for playability and, i dont even remember exactly wich model it was, but i remember it was a epiphone for not more than 200 euros. And this guitar was that guitar what i looking for in sound and playability and it sounds more nearly like a very expensive gibson as any other guitar. thats very surprising for me. wow epiphone, good work :-)
I bought a recent one from Indonesia...and I have been playing a long, long time...and I have to say this is more than a decent guitar...very playable and it sounds full...but it now goes for $229...which is still a deal...
The wife decided to get me a guitar for our 25th wedding anniversary. We went down to GC to try out acoustics, and I played virtually every one. For sound quality, we both tagged this as one of the best before looking at prices. After looking at the tags, this is the one I wanted. Excellent tone, easy to play. This is a good guitar, not just a good $200 guitar.
Something tells me whenever I see a bullshit comment like fisher's it's probably a competitor or some idiot troll. I have a DR100 and admittedly the setup was for shit. Not worth getting worked on, but the sound is lovely and huge. They're making great guitars nowadays at very reasonable prices - not the DR100, obviously, but I would look into this AJ220 if I hadn't just bought a great Alvarez.
I played this guitar today and that is why I'm here. I was in GC and saw a sunburst one hanging there, and I picked it up. I tuned it really quick to DADGAD and played Kashmir; it just rang out. Bottom end was most awesome. $200 bucks? I don't know if I just played a good one or what, but it was most wonderful. I'm thinking that I'm going back to get it tomorrow because I'm afraid one of it's clones won't sound as good.
I have been using one for a few years, it is the sunburst cutaway made in China, I marvel at how nice it looks, bookmatched wood, and white binding. It is not as loud as a high end guitar, stays in tune all the time, but sounds sweet. I was on my bike and saw the broken neck of a guitar sticking out of a garbage can, pulled it out and looked for the head, to no avail (along with the electrics ). It looked brand new. Apparently the person who had it didn't know he could have just glued and clamped the head back on. I dressed up the break, made a head out of maple, glued and reinforced it with an aluminum plate and blended it in with wood epoxy, the transition looks in-noticeable. y musician son got some turners that automatically cut the strings when stringing up (they are great). I think I lowered the bridge action some. I do not like the dark sunburst deal, it heats up severely when playing outside in the sun, so think about that when considering a dark colored instrument.
I just got one. Indonesian made. I bought it new for 133 Euro (app 150 USD) It Played well out of the box after tuning. Afterwards I lowered the saddle a bit and changed to .012 elixixir nanoweb 80/20 strings. I can relay to everything they say in the video. The finish is very good. This guitar is so easy playable and have a delicate sound.
Just purchased this guitar (Epiphone AJ-220 S, Vintage Sunburst color, Chinese make) today in India. Inspite of Chinese make quality is maintained & it really sounds like a bell. The tone is well balanced whatever style you play it goes well. I played few Jazz chords & other styles, I must confess that it was sounding good & loud. I'm deciding to customize this with this FISHMAN pickup in few days. Luv Josh
I have one of these babies, only mine is a cutaway. Paid $300 for it brand new and it sounds absolutely amazing. Would put this guitar up against any other top quality brand and trust me it compares. Action on mine was very low, no adjusting needed and plays like a damn dream. Thank you epiphone!!
I just bought it (Indonesia) and it is amazing!! I Was trying a lot acoustic guitars even fender, and i love fender electric guitars, but this just caught me at the first sound! Not far in quality and sound of a Martin but in the price.
i really love the sound of this. Im buying my first guitar for my birthday but its a Fender guitar bundle for 129.99. Im just learning so the bundle is great for me. When i get a little better, I think I may buy this later down the line.
Without previous knowledge of it, I pulled one of these off the wall and played it and damn near broke down and bought it, but if I did my rent would bounce, so... next month. ;) It really was a comfy guitar to play, and makes me re-evaluate the idea of spending 800 bucks and up on other models or names. Nobody's paying me to say this. I was impressed.
This really is one the best low priced guitars you will find. I just got an Indonesian natural model, used, but in new condition. $109 bucks! I shaved a hair off the saddle, oiled the neck, put on 11-52 bronze strings, and I am floored!!! Sound is very good and it plays fantastic. The satin neck is a huge selling point. I have bone parts for the nut, saddle, and pins, but not sure if I should bother. I may refinish in a light satin (I am not a fan of gloss). I bought this to do an EJ/John Lennon thing, but I do not know if I can bring myself to drill the drop for a volume and tone nob. Really fun to play! Now I just have to find a case!
I get the video is a little suspect, but this is an extremely nice guitar. I have some nice guitars, and this one is just a great instrument too. But I am almost for sure going to refinish it. Asia needs to stop putting thick gloss on everything. I think Ibanez has figured this out with their OPN/Open Pore models.
awesome sounding guitar, some great playing there, almost bought a ej45 till I realized it had a laminate top and was 50$ dearer, found this for £109- $150 at thomann, probably the cheapest in europe
Got one that was made in Indonesia for $150 new, I've got to say it sounds amazing. I have a Yamaha FG720s that I've had for about 8 years and was my first guitar, I feel scared carrying something so sentimental around and the AJ-220S is cheap enough that I wouldn;t really mind if anything happened to it. Above all, id does not sound or feel like its price.
No problem :D Really an awesome guitar because of its size you can take it pretty much anywhere and it still sounds awesome with modern stuff (I like to play a lot of Tenacious D and A day to remember)
found out this is the model my sister(which is the guitar i play on now) has. my dad couldnt have paid more than 130-150 for it and it is pretty good (they're not lying about that neck finish) so, good find.
Do you think paying an extra 100$ for the epiphone dove pro worth the difference? this neck has a satin finish which could be more comfortable than the one we get on the dove model... can someone advise me?
Yes I'm aware of the long scale advanced jumbos. The J-45 is the highest selling Gibson for a reason. The tone and playability of a short scale dreadnought is second to none. This year Epiphone has finally come out with the Masterbilt AJ-45me. A short scale advanced jumbo
I would avoid the DR100. I have one and it sounds nice enough but they put no thought into even trying to give it a halfway decent setup. I learned the hard way not to spend less than 200 bucks on a guitar. You wind up getting what you pay for.
It's the wrong scale length. 25.5 is martin scale not Gibson/Epiphone 24.75. Gal says some guitars have a longer neck? Not unless your playing a baritone guitar.
Its no coincidence that the design looks "classic" lol, the AJ turned into the J45/Texan with its rounded shoulders. A departure from the typical dreadnought shape with square shoulders created by Martin in the 30s. It looks like a very nice guitar, especially for only $200.
I have the Indonesia version, simply amazing sound; I had an Epiphone Dove past year, and this AJ220s sounds much better, more tone, more projection, more bass and more mid range....
You either bought a used one or a different model, like a PR150 or a DR100. The AJ220 is $200 brand new on every single website I could find. I got mine for $100 because it was used.
Let's be real here, it's a $200 brand new guitar. The brand new Martin acoustics that ring in the old days cost $2500 off the shelf and they dont come with any electronic pickups either

I could just not feel that the guitar was projecting and responding well enough. Did anyone else had a similar observations? I was really thinking of getting this for a long time....also it looks like it is going out of production. Not sure what to do now....
If Epiphone is happy to come here and tell me that's just a random guitar from a shop - then it sounds good. But maybe its one picked from the end of the production line that's especially good - certainly there are a few brilliant guitars that are inexpensive - that's why you need to go to a real shop to try them out.
Chris Downing The risk with these guitars is the factory does make a few mistakes. I have tried a few of these and a few dr 100 acoustics and each one had something slightly off. one had a fret wire not sitting properly in the guitar neck not finished properly with a small gap underneath it and would make the low key string on that fret buz and to repair that a refret was needed. The other one had trussrod problem as it wouldnt do anything. On the dr 100 the neck had a bow right at the end. Seen others that were ok and sounded fine as well. is mostly luck in my opinion and only way to get a good one is go to a shop try it and buy it. For this video I am sure they gave them the selected ones with no problems. For that price you taking a risk but if you get a good one is definetly worth it. I've owned an Epiphone Accoustic for 35 years and it still sounds as good. I would buy this guitar in a heartbeat.
+Douglas Grether This guitar is great. I bought it when it was first released and it just gets better with time.
Douglas Grether don’t waste your money I have one they blow...
I've had mine for just over six years. It's held up remarkably well and the sound has only gotten better. I love it.
I would like to see these "artist," play with these on stage. Then you may convince me
I tell you what I just got one of these bad boys and to anyone doubting its quality it is an absolute pleasure to play and the neck is outstandingly easy to play. Absolutly in love with my Aj-220ST. It's my first guitar and it sure is a good one

I'm defo getting one of these before I invest in a stratocaster. Best way to learn. And affordable.

someone could easily cut this and make it dirty, "it feels amazing, reach around, long arms, it feels correct"
Someone could easily post a negative comment without having ever touched the guitar. Your point?
something tells me they were being paid to say this
No....
+joshua fisher Agreed
+joshua fisher YUP!!!!
They might be, but I have this guitar and it really is nice

ordered me one from sweet water and this video is making me want it to hurry up and get here...cant wait
I bought the black one a few months ago and I've been loving it ever since. Perfect for beginners like me too. ;)

ive played one .feels realy good. good egsample of the epiphone-gibson relationship.

i love the roundshoulder
I feel like this is an open mike night Montague.
the aj200e and aj220s are similar?
theres is not a bottom end to be heard in this video.... thin and tinny
awesome sounding guitar, some great playing there, almost bought a ej45 till I realized it had a laminate top and was 50$ dearer, found this for £109- $150 at thomann, probably the cheapest in europe
I'd recommend to get the ones made in Indonesia, the details are way better than the ones made in China, 4 reals!!!
you are right!
OMG... I don't belive????
it's very very untrue
I believe in these musicians. I've bought this guitar today......
Got mine today ;) impressed with it.

Oh my i have the sane exact guitar!
What mean the index CH HDWE on Epiphone guitars?
The "E" on the aj200e stands for 'electronics', if I remember right, the "S" stands for 'standard'.
No problem :D Really an awesome guitar because of its size you can take it pretty much anywhere and it still sounds awesome with modern stuff (I like to play a lot of Tenacious D and A day to remember)

Do you think paying an extra 100$ for the epiphone dove pro worth the difference? this neck has a satin finish which could be more comfortable than the one we get on the dove model... can someone advise me?
"It's like when I fart into my epiphone aj200... It's like it's really me farting... and that's how I know it's a great guitar"

Song 0:53?
The litmus test is how many actual use them live especially considering Epiphone would let them have them free.
What's the song that Britney Christian is playing?
I have this guitar. It's amazing!
2:46 just how the hell did he do that?
a couple few hammer-offs and a common blues lick. Practice practice!
Does anyone know the song Noah Benardout is playing??
Song 1:09?
Sloped shoulder with 25.5 scale??? What are they going for a Martin copy? 24.75 please!!!
AJ models look em up Gibson AJs are really well known .
30yrpro the epiphone "1963" j45 has the 24.75 scale. I believe it is a laminate top though, stills sounds decent.
Theres an epiphone on amazon, its the DR-100 model. only 99 bucks. Seems good for a CHEAP Christmas present ya think?
no
I would avoid the DR100. I have one and it sounds nice enough but they put no thought into even trying to give it a halfway decent setup. I learned the hard way not to spend less than 200 bucks on a guitar. You wind up getting what you pay for.
Do they do a LH one?
It's the wrong scale length. 25.5 is martin scale not Gibson/Epiphone 24.75. Gal says some guitars have a longer neck? Not unless your playing a baritone guitar.
How much is this in Canada?
What song is Noah playing
Its no coincidence that the design looks "classic" lol, the AJ turned into the J45/Texan with its rounded shoulders. A departure from the typical dreadnought shape with square shoulders created by Martin in the 30s. It looks like a very nice guitar, especially for only $200.
I respect Epiphone
well good for them, they havent dissapointed me yet. i love machine made guitars from china. they are really strong
Elixir Strings?
just bought mej220s as a throw around guitar. very good quality and sound over all. just needs a proper set up and new strings!
I have the Indonesia version, simply amazing sound; I had an Epiphone Dove past year, and this AJ220s sounds much better, more tone, more projection, more bass and more mid range....
wow. brilliant. that-that really convinces me. I'd suggest another marketing tactic.
Fender Strings?
Just bought one today!
whats the aj-220sce like?
Just ordered mine in ebony black sooooooo excited!!!
Guitar center and amazon for 100 bucks!!!!
Everywhere I've looked this model is $200. Are you sure you got this exact model for $100?
That sucks for u.... u paid an extra 100 !!!
And yes im sure but it could just be where u live the prices are different?
You either bought a used one or a different model, like a PR150 or a DR100. The AJ220 is $200 brand new on every single website I could find. I got mine for $100 because it was used.
why do you have to argue back just accept the fact i got mine for 100 off Guitar center brand new.
OMO ItsGigi No you didn't....
this guitar or Fender cd-60?
Ole Auby i have an epíphone acústic and it is sooo good, i have tríed fender acoustics from friends and they are pretty bad quality
Ole Auby better value than Gibson
Let's be real here, it's a $200 brand new guitar. The brand new Martin acoustics that ring in the old days cost $2500 off the shelf and they dont come with any electronic pickups either
Cant decide between this and the electric version.
I miss my AJ200EVS. This might be the replacement
how much for this in indian rupee???
T. Up if you like the clean and warm tone of those guitars
A very easy to play guitar, sound is just ok.
Well finally I tried this yesterday in a music shop. It was a model made in china. What can I say? I expected more after all the hype this guitar received. I mean that thing was just not that punchy and resonant as I expected....I was thinking maybe it was because of the stock strings that it had....or because of the saddle was not made of bone (some say it is some sort of hard plastic). I could just not feel that the guitar was projecting and responding well enough. Did anyone else had a similar observations? I was really thinking of getting this for a long time....also it looks like it is going out of production. Not sure what to do now....
Lol get one made in Indonesia
I own a few high end Gibson's and this epiphone is truly a great guitar...great price as well!!!
Who are these people?
i got it and it seems better than an epiphone hummingbird
epiphone: quality and economy very
nice guitar
Good video! Greetings from Hungary

5:23 efectively the company go out of business 😕
I have one of these in natural.
Umm con tod@s est@s weys tocando parece muy versatil la guitarra creo que me la voy a comprar no se
I was guessing around $600.00 .
Needless to SAY I bought one and I’m pissed epiphone lowered there standards
Don't believe it until I play it with my own hands...
these go for about $270 new now
i got one for christmas
I do agree that the guitar is nice (I own one) but those videos are so unneccessary because they're obviously going to say nothing but good things about it if they get invited by the company that makes them lol
Never heard of any of them.
Very quiet guitar.
I love Epiphone guitars, I have a Casino and it is my absolute all time favorite guitars.
This is a cheap guitar, quiet, but sounds pretty good. For the money it's great.
Jack
very nice guitar oooo
