I love this vacuum so much! I am from Lithuania and I can see how our Lithuanian vacuum cleaner "Saturnas" was inspired by this hoover constellation model! Our was made in 1960s and produced right up till the late 80s. I have one from 1965. The vacuum really does come apart in two halves just like this one, but inside its a bit different. I would love to have this vacuum as well!
My mother had one of these. As a child, I thought they were just strange and pointless. I thought it was just a relic. I never understood why my mother always loved using it and never wanted to get a modern vacuum cleaner. It’s only as an adult that I realize that this vacuum cleaner was special. It was an icon Based on a time when people were infatuated by science to the point that they would design household products based on new discoveries, like the concept of atoms and planets and stars. No wonder why my mom loved the strange looking little vacuum.
Do you think it happened years ago when it was relatively new which is why it is good condition? Was out of warranty as It lost suction so got shoved up into the loft after someone fell onto it or damaged it somehow?
Brings back great memories. As regards the gap causing no suction. You could try putting a self-adhesive draught seal around the top of the metal base to seal it. Might be better than hitting it into shape. Just a thought.
I wonder if tightening the top lid hinge will realign it. It might just not be sitting flush because the hinge has bent or become distorted? Lovely example and I’m sure there will be a fix.
I think its bent around the hinge. Maybe remove everything and then re-assemble? Put both halves flat on the floor and see if they are out of shape. I was given one in very bad shape and I switched it on for Sh*ts and Giggles and **BANG** it blew its motor. Nice video once again Roger thanks.
the hoover constelation was released in 1954 whear u got the idea it is a 1970s vacume i dont no i have one that my parents bought new in 1954 from gamages department store in london witch sgtill wprks and is my sole vacume used 3 times a week frankie 42 kings rd london
I got the idea that the Hoover Constellation in THIS video was manufactured in 1975 from the details printed on the rating sticker on the underside of the machine. Going by details found in my official Hoover service manual, the Hoover Constellation was first manufactured for the UK market in 1956 and was a non floating model and several variants were produced right up until the early 80s. I have quite a few different versions myself including model 822 which is the oldest one I have. ruclips.net/video/8cB9gtlkOFE/видео.html
makes sence i checked the recipet and my constelation was bought in 56 i made the mistake apolagies and also u are very easy on the eye frankie 42 bedford uk

It is wonderful to see these machines!
That's great. The exhaust blows out downwards under it making it essentially hovering over the carpet :)
A Constellation! Beautiful machines.
Great Unboxing Roger 👌👌👌
Brilliant idea.
I really want one to go alongside my U1012 junior and my 3314L twin tub
Maybe it has fallen down the stairs. I can imagine a hovering Hoover at risk of this if Hoovering the landing or something. 😔
This Cleaner Is Seen In “The Big Comfy Couch” (1992)
"I love a dirty hose" 😂

I'm sorry Roger! That sucks (or not). Try self adhesive weather stripping. Will seal the gaps but make the lid hard to close
I saw straight away the lid is not tight sealing as well lol I was screaming at my computer lol

you could still include it for fun
Would this scratch epoxy floors when it glides? Like I know it floats but does the metal ever touch?
The jugs might be good for mixing carpet cleaning solutions.
When will the video on the Scrub n Vac come out?
Roger, I didn't know you were in a heatwave, last year!
look like something has happened to the hinge area perhaps forced at one time with something in the way so hinge bent and is to high,
Hi Rog. Do you think they styled Henry on these beauties?
No, I don’t think so.
I remember these. It was like vacuming in the future.
What was the hoover called that was shaped like a suitcase
