I do NOT envy the balance team. It must be so frustrating trying to make a game balanced competitively AND for your average gamer... I personally don't see an issue with metas being different at different skill levels though, it's almost like and adventure as you get better.
Model and pike being miles ahead of every other medium gun is not good. regardless of skill level. People don't like using OR fighting against it, but you kind of have to if you wanna be competitive
Iv been saying this for a while about game yes some weapon have had moment of being better then the rest and those weapons are called "meta" until the aren't "meta" no more. I think everything and every play style in the game is playable and winnable and it just depends on the user. I think "meta" weapons are only "meta" bc any player from the lowest skill level to the highest level can play good with it and it there is a decent difference within the weapon itself when in the hands of a High skill player vs a Lower skill player. This is just my opinion.
@@GolemOfMagic Oh, I agree, I think the game is fairly balanced, its just that in order to have a successful game, it needs to be something a larger audience can play and finds fun. And certain weapons may not preform well against high skilled players, but are a nuisance to lower skill, more casual or new players. Things like sword, CL40, and light in general are annoying for new players. So they need to be balanced in a way that makes them viable high up, but not annoying low down. Or they need advanced tutorials on how to counter everything.

Players are always going to play differently at different ranks, but creating weapons and abilities that follow a similar healthy skill to reward ratio makes the variance small. Games should be balanced around making sure there's no low skill/high reward options. If skill is rewarded, as players get better, the game still feels natural

With the meta shifting away from shields it also makes glitch nades much, MUCH less useful, meanwhile glitch mines keep getting more and more useful with the medium meta we have right now. Light is being forced more and more into a full damager and flank class instead of a "disturb" class, which makes the balancing around it a lot more difficult. But mainly, i just want my old xp back 😢
RIGHT! Same thing here. I don't get it lol. I can hit nearly every shot, run out of bullets right when they have hardly any health with and then they just zap me in seconds. Pretty frustrating lol

Gonna be real i think the shields being risky to use is a good thing, good timing on a dome can save a teamates life or help with a steal, a poorly placed dome gets shredded or doesn't acheive much, same goes for mesh, i also do like the slowing down of TTK from some of the faster killing guns like XP and pike i think they were that little bit too strong in damage, engagements feel amazing when guns kill fast enough to punish poor positioning but slow enough to realise whats hitting you at least thats my point of view
Honestly I completely agree with ttk however nobody competitive are using sustain guns that have longer ttks everyone right now is rewarded for burst weapons that do really high dmg in a few shots like the pike, 1887, double barrel, sword etc…

Pike already feels pitiful in close range. The scope is bugged and hip fire is atrocious when combined with movement. Exactly. They were so eager to make the sniper unplayable and yet so reluctant to nerf the pike. It took them too long and it still feels oppressive at range (which was the supposed argument for the sniper nerf, lmao. Imagine a SNIPER being oppressive at range). They should just follow their own precedent and make the pike projectile after 20 meters, or revert the sniper change, and we gucci.
@T.O.X.I.C.5597 Well, almost all the weapons in the game are hitscan. They just made the sniper into a "hybrid" type (is hitscan in close range, but becomes a projectile after a certain range.) It's hard to get used too, but I personally don't mind the change with sniper. (I tend to lead my shots anyway because of apex). Though I do agree with 1 thing, they should adjust bullet velocity for the sniper. It sometimes feels like it takes its time to hit the guy I shot at. Lol

Yeah I thought it was going to be something to do with the fire rate maybe some smaller damage nerf but still able to take lights in 3 shots for example. I don't think the weapon is out of the question it's still been fine for me, but I didn't want to use the weapon until it got nerfed so only played recently with it.

ok but they need to just change the colors straight up. a lot of them look too similar to the others. EVEN IN ALL THE COLOR BLIND MODES. cant see red and pink? maybe try orange and peach! brown and gray? i forget the actual colors but there are very similar colors in all settings.
before that patch i had 40 fps in gun fights, i wasnt even able to play with any close range weapons like sword or shotgun because it was literally unplayable. But now when i started and did my halloween dalies i had constant 100+ fps in gun fights which caught me really offguard, even though i have 240hz it felt very very smooth. I mean better than 40 fps. But this is just glorious
if you have a 240hz display and you’re only getting those numbers… you should look to upgrade your pc. sounds like your pc is bottlenecking your monitor haha
@@imrnp it's only in this game. Iam able to play cs, overwatch and even cyberpunk with RTX with over 300+ fps. Even a friend of mine with a crazy pc, struggles with fps. Maybe some nvidia settings or smth idk.
for console, a basic 'performance mode' [set textures down a peg, get rid of screen space reflections etcetc] and 'quality' mode would be more than sufficient, tbh

Slower time to kill is 100% a heavy buff. gives my phat ass more time to run behind cover, throw down dome shields/barricades, even gives me more time to run in at people for a hammer secondary fire.
the pyro grenade damage the dome is so funny cause has such a short duration that a pyro nade wouldn't do anything lol, apart from I guess a little tick damage if you throw it between you and the enemy and they run into it but even then, dome having so little health for a 5 second duration is still crazy
the "shield meta" was not a shield meta it was a period of time where you could fucking use the other half of heavy's weapons gadgets and specials aka when the game wasn't balanced like a 4 year old rotting roach stuck in a carpet
Personally the shield meta needs to return.. it gave a viable reason to run sustain weapons instead of super fast burst kill weapons. The pike would not be as viable with shields being strong. However the scar/akm would be better. As it stands now everyone is going for the highest possible dmg which is shotguns, melee, or sneak/flank. I haven’t seen too many med in gold or above use anything other than the 1887. I don’t understand these changes they just made. Currently the season additions have been great but I have always hated shotgun metas in any game.
I swear they moved the riot shield to the 9 o'clock centered position from 10 o'clock centered position. I used to be able to block bullets by slightly looking right while moving. Now every time i do it i get shot.
They need to buff it man. I wanna main riot shield but it’s impossible to carry. Maybe 1 out of 10 games you can MAYBE. I think swing speed increase would be nice but there’s no movement. I hit a light then run/dash. Medium debfibs other teammate. Any flame or melee eats riot as well

However I really do think they moved the riot shield on the character model. My evidence being that I could see throwing knives stuck in my shield on the left side of my screen and bullets sparking off. Now when I look to the right of the enemy to block damage I get hit. I really don't know what happened.maybe I'm tripping?
Im really hoping that the performance fix works for series S(i heard it was also a series x issue). It made playing on kyoto for example, a massive disadvantage. If i got kyoto in ranked, i just expected i'll probably lose. The frames would just randomly drop to 10fps for no reason, making fighting anyone nearly impossible. It would also happen on vegas sometimes.
@@vulcanizedanthony145 It really is, not as good the M11, that's for sure, but consistent at even 10m. Felt like using a battle rifle (what the LH1/M1A actually is) than a DMR that's supposed to work at mid-to-long.
My favourite bug so far, that hasn't been fixed for like... I dunno, since the start of season 3 i guess, is sometimes the player aim fucks up so hard, in every few secs it immediately snaps back onto a certain point, it goes on for a few minutes, or simetimes for the entire game, makes it totally unplayable, leaving you the only way to fixing it is restart, either the game or the PC.

Me patiently waiting for a dual blades buff to drop 🤣. But yeah, I can't tell you how many times I've been running around matches fighting a 3 stack of pike users- it was getting to the point where I'd see them almost every match. I'm glad they didn't nerf it too heavily bc it's a really nice feeling gun when you shoot it.

Ran TSR through with my system (R7 3750H, GTX1650 Mobile, and 32GB 2400mhz ram) and it feels slightly better than FSR. FPS average is almost the same around 50ish fps most of the time except when it’s Kyoto. Though it would be nice what the other players’ experience with it.
And to think I started playing this game less than 2 weeks ago, bought the pike, started enjoying it, and now they killed the chances of defending yourself at close range against the tanky-as-hell heavies and gimmicky lights, life sucks...
Yeah less than two weeks ago is fine, you'll adapt. This change is more so for the players in the longer run since the start of Season 4. I think the pike is still okay personally.
Yeah you'll learn with the AKM for example the range damage is sooo bad, I used AKM for a while but playing the pike in that video really showed me how fun it is to take long range fights (I miss those days lol)
I get that they want the Pike to be a longer ramge weapon, but its not accurate enough for that. And now you have to land more shots to get the kill? I see no reason to use it over any of the other medium weapons. Also love how they say they want TTK to be higher, yet light class can still two shot a heavy from full health.
@@PW.6060 light can two-shot with either sniper or with a dagger, which are both extremely situational. you must be really close AND behind a heavy (otherwise they just stomp you to death), or really far away, which can give a heavy time to hide/throw a shield/goo. does not feel to overpowered, considering what a heavy can do to light with dual 50s or flamethrower
@Letinemeso Don't forget the double barrel. And the TTK for their SMGs is near instantaneous. This coupled with the fact that they have a microscopic hit box, can be invisible, and can dash and move faster than you can blink is a little lopsided. I'm not even a heavy main, but trying to play heavy in a light lobby is rough.

Not sure if they can fix it but on series s the frame rate drops like crazy on Kyoto makes it unplayable and once i played on Kyoto its buggy on all maps till i reset the game.
They fixed it🎉....also the framedrops were not only on kyoto......but it was most common in kyoto...the other maps when destruction happens or in the middle of tights
i definetly do not recommend playing with tsr unless you're on capable hardware, else stick to taau because the input delay tsr can add is a little jarring at times and prefer better response times over higher frames as long as they are stable i personally don't use nvidia reflex as well as my cpu is older and can't keep up already lmao (1600x900 TAAU 72%)
I really don't understand why embark is nerfing all the weapons while ignoring some unused things like 93r or medium's melee weapons. There are TONS of feedbacks that say some weapons need buff and yet they are nerfing.
End of the day it depends on the data they have, if they felt the pike was too strong then it is what it is. I did say that if they release the new weapons slightly stronger than they intend so people play it to give them the data to balance then that's a good strategy. Reason why is because the 93R released too weak in Season 2 and not many people played with it. Also to note, what do you want improved about the 93R? Have to be quite careful as it's a burst weapon but ofc you probably want it moved closer to the V9S in terms of output
Hmm I mean if you're moving it from a TTK perspective, I do understand that it takes some time end of the day it really comes down to what the vision is for the game
I don't need to speak out against anything, I said before; if THE FINALS want to nerf weapons then they want the game to be a high TTK game, and what's happened? We are moving towards a high TTK game, that's it. There's no "speaking out" you can't just balance all weapons overnight and pray it all works, moving TTK takes time.
That Pike nerf is fine with me. I wanted an M1A/M14 style gun anyway, and the LH1 definitely doesn't fill that role despite clearly looking like an M14. The pike is much more like what the M14 is in other games, and this nerf actually sort of leans more into that even if it does make a body hit fall into an extra shot.\ They should not widen the point fire reticle though! As I said, I like it because it sort of fills the M14 role I expect, which leans into DMR but doesn't quite make it past the assault rifle role so it still fits in as an assault rifle but it has DMR capabilities that isn't present on quicker guns.
Yeah it's also the question of CQB too because THE FINALS being objective based on cashouts means that fights have to be close range, but if you can be in a position to stop people getting within that range, you're going to be in advantage for sure
The finals without cheap stuff will mke the game good. Cheap stuff are the shields and heals and 1 shot mechanic because most of the guns dont have a fast ttk so its very unbalanced
I prefer that the shield meta has shifted, it took Overwatch several years and a revamp of the entire game to fix shields - meanwhile Finals is actively adjusting these things

If I’m being completely honest, if I could make one change to the finals, it would be to replace the AI announcer voices for real ones. Everything else in this game is perfect and I wouldn’t change a single thing.

Literally the same, I originally didn't use the pike as much on release because I thought it would have been nerfed way quicker than what it did today, but still I'll be using it more
No1 has ever stopped using the model. It is still the best thing for burst. The pike is been good but if your not top 1% your better off using the model plane and simple. Learn how to take fights and the range is not a problem. I’m happy to see the nerfs on pike personally
Lower/higher skill ”meta weapon” in the end who is using the weapon? Is the weapon shooting it self and hitting or perhaps is it you? So i just say get better. In the end of the day people who will complain will stop playing the game and the actual guys who wanna get good are staying thats just how i see it.

It’s becoming harder and harder to stay a Medium main. With the high health and shields of the Heavy and the shiftiness of the Light, a gun fight is not in the Mediums cards. I may join the Lights soon. (Because I know my Famas nerf is coming 😢).
Medium is the strongest class in the game right now in comparison to ranked and competitive. If you're chillin on World Tour, Powershift, Bank it etc then I see why I guess but you have a tonne of arsenal that makes medium great. What's your build?

Ahh yes, this is a huge problem with THE FINALS in that ranked is not as good for light, especially at the higher end. However, in those modes I said light is veeery good as they don't rely on team-mates. I would say get used to the dematerializer, most of the time you can drop players a floor below in front of you, or use it as a quick escape. It will take some time (maybe a week or so) to learn it but once you start getting tricks down you'll have a tonne of fun manipulating the arena. Hope it goes well :)
Ah okay thanks for your input, in my tests you can see that it did help with my frames a tonne but I'll play with it further and see how it does in those scenarios
You said nothing else is too exciting besides like nerf. The fix on series s is INSANE for me. I would just get crazy stutter frames but it was so bad it was unplayable. Like every second I would just freeze and it wasn’t Wi-Fi related. I would have to close the game (even mid tournament)

@T.O.X.I.C.5597 Well, almost all the weapons in the game are hitscan. They just made the sniper into a "hybrid" type (is hitscan in close range, but becomes a projectile after a certain range.) It's hard to get used too, but I personally don't mind the change with sniper. (I tend to lead my shots anyway because of apex). Though I do agree with 1 thing, they should adjust bullet velocity for the sniper. It sometimes feels like it takes its time to hit the guy I shot at. Lol
@@Escruonn i wouldnt mind this if this was AT LEAST 100 meters before turning into a projectile, 50m isnt viable on a sniper, using close range weapon is 90% better, and yeah, after 50m ,velocity is insane

I was surprised to see so many people stopped using them. Used to be every match and now I see like 1 using them every few matches despite they’re still super strong
real, i get they arent as easy to use as most weapons but that never ending barrage of extremely high damage is still extremely dominant.

Yeah I thought it was going to be something to do with the fire rate maybe some smaller damage nerf but still able to take lights in 3 shots for example. I don't think the weapon is out of the question it's still been fine for me, but I didn't want to use the weapon until it got nerfed so only played recently with it.

Yes me too! The performance hit compared to Taau is not very bad (like 10'ish FPS maybe). And I feel the game is a lot clearer imo.
before that patch i had 40 fps in gun fights, i wasnt even able to play with any close range weapons like sword or shotgun because it was literally unplayable. But now when i started and did my halloween dalies i had constant 100+ fps in gun fights which caught me really offguard, even though i have 240hz it felt very very smooth. I mean better than 40 fps. But this is just glorious

@@imrnp it's only in this game. Iam able to play cs, overwatch and even cyberpunk with RTX with over 300+ fps. Even a friend of mine with a crazy pc, struggles with fps. Maybe some nvidia settings or smth idk.

Slower time to kill is 100% a heavy buff. gives my phat ass more time to run behind cover, throw down dome shields/barricades, even gives me more time to run in at people for a hammer secondary fire.
That series S bug was a pain. Wasn’t very often but made a match unplayable

the pyro grenade damage the dome is so funny cause has such a short duration that a pyro nade wouldn't do anything lol, apart from I guess a little tick damage if you throw it between you and the enemy and they run into it but even then, dome having so little health for a 5 second duration is still crazy

the "shield meta" was not a shield meta it was a period of time where you could fucking use the other half of heavy's weapons gadgets and specials aka when the game wasn't balanced like a 4 year old rotting roach stuck in a carpet

Personally the shield meta needs to return.. it gave a viable reason to run sustain weapons instead of super fast burst kill weapons. The pike would not be as viable with shields being strong. However the scar/akm would be better. As it stands now everyone is going for the highest possible dmg which is shotguns, melee, or sneak/flank. I haven’t seen too many med in gold or above use anything other than the 1887. I don’t understand these changes they just made. Currently the season additions have been great but I have always hated shotgun metas in any game.
I swear they moved the riot shield to the 9 o'clock centered position from 10 o'clock centered position. I used to be able to block bullets by slightly looking right while moving. Now every time i do it i get shot.
They need to buff it man. I wanna main riot shield but it’s impossible to carry. Maybe 1 out of 10 games you can MAYBE. I think swing speed increase would be nice but there’s no movement. I hit a light then run/dash. Medium debfibs other teammate. Any flame or melee eats riot as well

However I really do think they moved the riot shield on the character model. My evidence being that I could see throwing knives stuck in my shield on the left side of my screen and bullets sparking off. Now when I look to the right of the enemy to block damage I get hit. I really don't know what happened.maybe I'm tripping?

Im really hoping that the performance fix works for series S(i heard it was also a series x issue). It made playing on kyoto for example, a massive disadvantage. If i got kyoto in ranked, i just expected i'll probably lose. The frames would just randomly drop to 10fps for no reason, making fighting anyone nearly impossible. It would also happen on vegas sometimes.

My favourite bug so far, that hasn't been fixed for like... I dunno, since the start of season 3 i guess, is sometimes the player aim fucks up so hard, in every few secs it immediately snaps back onto a certain point, it goes on for a few minutes, or simetimes for the entire game, makes it totally unplayable, leaving you the only way to fixing it is restart, either the game or the PC.

But yeah, I can't tell you how many times I've been running around matches fighting a 3 stack of pike users- it was getting to the point where I'd see them almost every match. I'm glad they didn't nerf it too heavily bc it's a really nice feeling gun when you shoot it.

Yeah I mean I did run a few examples at the end of the video but it's only with my system and I gained some FPS
Ran TSR through with my system (R7 3750H, GTX1650 Mobile, and 32GB 2400mhz ram) and it feels slightly better than FSR. FPS average is almost the same around 50ish fps most of the time except when it’s Kyoto. Though it would be nice what the other players’ experience with it.

Yeah less than two weeks ago is fine, you'll adapt. This change is more so for the players in the longer run since the start of Season 4. I think the pike is still okay personally.

Yeah you'll learn with the AKM for example the range damage is sooo bad, I used AKM for a while but playing the pike in that video really showed me how fun it is to take long range fights (I miss those days lol)

I get that they want the Pike to be a longer ramge weapon, but its not accurate enough for that. And now you have to land more shots to get the kill? I see no reason to use it over any of the other medium weapons. Also love how they say they want TTK to be higher, yet light class can still two shot a heavy from full health.
@@PW.6060 light can two-shot with either sniper or with a dagger, which are both extremely situational. you must be really close AND behind a heavy (otherwise they just stomp you to death), or really far away, which can give a heavy time to hide/throw a shield/goo. does not feel to overpowered, considering what a heavy can do to light with dual 50s or flamethrower
@Letinemeso Don't forget the double barrel. And the TTK for their SMGs is near instantaneous. This coupled with the fact that they have a microscopic hit box, can be invisible, and can dash and move faster than you can blink is a little lopsided. I'm not even a heavy main, but trying to play heavy in a light lobby is rough.

Not sure if they can fix it but on series s the frame rate drops like crazy on Kyoto makes it unplayable and once i played on Kyoto its buggy on all maps till i reset the game.
They fixed it🎉....also the framedrops were not only on kyoto......but it was most common in kyoto...the other maps when destruction happens or in the middle of tights

i definetly do not recommend playing with tsr unless you're on capable hardware, else stick to taau because the input delay tsr can add is a little jarring at times and prefer better response times over higher frames as long as they are stable
i personally don't use nvidia reflex as well as my cpu is older and can't keep up already lmao (1600x900 TAAU 72%)

I really don't understand why embark is nerfing all the weapons while ignoring some unused things like 93r or medium's melee weapons. There are TONS of feedbacks that say some weapons need buff and yet they are nerfing.
End of the day it depends on the data they have, if they felt the pike was too strong then it is what it is. I did say that if they release the new weapons slightly stronger than they intend so people play it to give them the data to balance then that's a good strategy. Reason why is because the 93R released too weak in Season 2 and not many people played with it.
Also to note, what do you want improved about the 93R? Have to be quite careful as it's a burst weapon but ofc you probably want it moved closer to the V9S in terms of output

That Pike nerf is fine with me. I wanted an M1A/M14 style gun anyway, and the LH1 definitely doesn't fill that role despite clearly looking like an M14. The pike is much more like what the M14 is in other games, and this nerf actually sort of leans more into that even if it does make a body hit fall into an extra shot.\
They should not widen the point fire reticle though! As I said, I like it because it sort of fills the M14 role I expect, which leans into DMR but doesn't quite make it past the assault rifle role so it still fits in as an assault rifle but it has DMR capabilities that isn't present on quicker guns.
Yeah it's also the question of CQB too because THE FINALS being objective based on cashouts means that fights have to be close range, but if you can be in a position to stop people getting within that range, you're going to be in advantage for sure
The finals without cheap stuff will mke the game good. Cheap stuff are the shields and heals and 1 shot mechanic because most of the guns dont have a fast ttk so its very unbalanced
I prefer that the shield meta has shifted, it took Overwatch several years and a revamp of the entire game to fix shields - meanwhile Finals is actively adjusting these things

If I’m being completely honest, if I could make one change to the finals, it would be to replace the AI announcer voices for real ones. Everything else in this game is perfect and I wouldn’t change a single thing.

No1 has ever stopped using the model. It is still the best thing for burst. The pike is been good but if your not top 1% your better off using the model plane and simple. Learn how to take fights and the range is not a problem. I’m happy to see the nerfs on pike personally

It’s becoming harder and harder to stay a Medium main. With the high health and shields of the Heavy and the shiftiness of the Light, a gun fight is not in the Mediums cards. I may join the Lights soon. (Because I know my Famas nerf is coming 😢).
Medium is the strongest class in the game right now in comparison to ranked and competitive. If you're chillin on World Tour, Powershift, Bank it etc then I see why I guess but you have a tonne of arsenal that makes medium great. What's your build?
@ I don’t play ranked any longer starting this season. World tour & powershift mostly. I run Healing Beam, Famas, frag, jump pad, and deb the most. I also run solo. Do you have any suggestions?
Ahh yes, this is a huge problem with THE FINALS in that ranked is not as good for light, especially at the higher end. However, in those modes I said light is veeery good as they don't rely on team-mates. I would say get used to the dematerializer, most of the time you can drop players a floor below in front of you, or use it as a quick escape. It will take some time (maybe a week or so) to learn it but once you start getting tricks down you'll have a tonne of fun manipulating the arena.

You said nothing else is too exciting besides like nerf. The fix on series s is INSANE for me. I would just get crazy stutter frames but it was so bad it was unplayable. Like every second I would just freeze and it wasn’t Wi-Fi related. I would have to close the game (even mid tournament)
