    The FMF Shorty Silencer works well with the Gnarly and will give you plenty of bottom end.

    The type of sound that comes from any pipe is always a personal preference, but I can tell you that the best option for performance is usually to match the pipe with the header by brand. So I would recommend the FMF Pipe and FMF Silencer. I do like the sound of the FMF exhaust.

    I own the Gnarly and purchased the SST last season and had them powdercoated in a crome like finish thats good to 2500 degrees. It keeps the heat in the pipe and promotes more exhaust flow. I use to own a Fatty but since the Gnarly and SST came out and 85% of my races are GNCC and other enduro races I had to get the power in the bottom and mid range. SST is like Flomasters principal, to get the exhaust gases out faster so the engine can scavenge more fresh air at a higher rate. Awsome products

    The FMF Fatty pipe is the best overall pipe around for the riding you are doing. Hands down.

  • @Sketch1994

    Check your CVT roller weights.If they are too heavy your engine won't rev until you reach the speed your CVT will stop moving in.If too light you will be able to pop wheelies with no effort but you won't be able to get out of 60km.Try different weights or try mixing weights(ALWAYS cross-pattern).HINT:7g are closest to middle so you get both torque and speed but the ideal weight changes with every other change that will affect bike performance.Hope this helped!

    It depends on what kind of racing you plan on doing and what your goals are as far as power delivery. In general the FMF Factory Fatty works well for MX.

    i have a 1998 hasquvarna wr 250 with a gnarly pipe, that thing is mental it gave so much more power in low-mid but i can barely tell the difference between 5th and 6th probably be a good idea to get a different ratio sprockets but I'm not just because i don't want to ruin that mid range POWER!

    • @kevinstearns4198
      @kevinstearns4198 9 лет назад

      sprockets will make a 100 percent difference. i run a stock pipe. 87 kx 250. its not worth the 200 plus dollars for any aftermarket pipe. thats my 30 years opinion.

  • @jcmotors
    @jcmotors  11 лет назад

    Go with the Fatty pipe and either the Powercore 2 or Turbinecore 2 if a spark arrestor is needed.

  • @BCzepa
    @BCzepa 10 лет назад +3

    good info on the fmf pipes, you helped me make a decision, im going with the gnarly for my trail riding on my '96 250 exc. the pipe bend is all dented in quite severely on my factory pipe, giving half the diametre over a 2 inch section, so i want the gnarly for the added thickness and low end torque.
    QUESTION: how does the gnarly pipe go in the top of the rev range? i hear that i peaks and drops off sooner, this is not a real problem for me, but it might take some of the fun out of my bike. (i just rebuilt the top end and power valves on the old girl and dont want it getting hot by not being able to breathe)

    • @jcmotors
      @jcmotors  10 лет назад +1

      ANSWER: Yes it will drop off sooner. 2 stroke exhaust systems are always a give and take. It will breathe just fine though. Keep in mind you could also play with your gearing a bit to. Once you get the pipe if it feels like you have ton's off the bottom end but it sign's off a bit soon on the top try going 1 or 2 teeth smaller on your rear sprocket to balance it out.

  • @jcmotors
    @jcmotors  11 лет назад

    Yes, the FMF Fatty and Factory Fatty will fit your motorcycle. Go to the JC Motors web site and click on exhaust on the left side of the screen it will take you to our exhaust page. From there you can enter your motorcycle year, make, model and see exactly what exhausts will fit your bike. Ride safe!

What would you recommend?

    The 96 YZ250 I got a while back has a Platinum on it, I'm hoping I can get more bottom end out of the bike. I hear opinions both ways on the Platinum giving bottom end, so does anyone have the real scoop on it? Dyno sheets that tell once and for all? FMF doesn't make the Gnarly for 96, but if I made a 97 Gnarly fit just how much of the top end would I loose????

      I have a KDX200 with a platinum, it has good low end and great midrange, not much up top, and a flatspot just off idle I am trying to rejet it , ... I'd like to try a Gnarly, it's very tight technical trails around here

    • @dmsentra
