I heard this song for the first time this morning driving my son to school on the radio. I try so hard not to cry in front of my boys because they know what's wrong with me when I do and you never want to worry your children. The lines really hit me. Especially "I'm sorry that I couldn't save your life". I think these words in my head every time I think of my brother. My little brother took his life on July 21st of this year. He was 26. Hit 3 months ago a little over a week ago and it feels like yesterday every time I open my eyes in the morning. He left 4 children behind his youngest was only 4 months when he did what he did. I just wish with every part of me that he had known how much we loved him and how much we miss him.

Days following his death (July 24-2018) a Nighthawk mysteriously began to show in our farm which is the same color as this bird on the video. I heard this song for the first time today while driving to work. I broke down crying. Just this past March 2018, I lost my beautiful daughter to her battle with addiction. Just like the song says, "in a moment you were lighting up the room". She would bring light and laughter into any situation. She is forever 27 and forever missed. "Oh, I am sorry that you'll never grow old". This song is a hauntingly perfect description of how I feel since she died.

She was the sunshine in the family and had a spirit of joy that touched everyone around her. She was the one that introduced me to music. She loved you guys and I immediately knew why when she made me listen too. She took my first concert ever (yours of course) and I can't tell you how many times that memory replays in my mind. I went from laughing and smiling with my wife and friends to tearing up and crying like a baby. This song says everything I feel. Unfair and left behind. I feel the worst for my dad. We struggle with it everyday. Don't ever think that suicide is the only way out. Talk to someone, anyone, at any time. Don't ever do this to yourself and your family. It's a life long punishment. God bless everyone that has ever been affected by suicide.

My sister put this song on a playlist for my father who just passed this last weekend. I worked with my father every day and he would call me each morning and night and we would lay out our schedule and strategize. I wake up every morning thinking about how he would call and see if i was awake and get me motivated. Although he passed too soon (50) he lived 3 lifetimes worth of adventure, work, and loving his family and friends. I found out at 3 am when i got a call from my cousin. Every night since I go outside to stare at the stars. I feel him with me and my mother and sister. I know he is in a much better place and can finally rest. I miss him so much but his love for me and my family and the motivational talks and inspiration empower me and make me want to live a better life and realize the potential he saw in me from day 1. I miss you all the time. I love you infinitely.

I originally came across this song after my dad had passed away in January 2018. Some songs are triggers for me that cause me to dissolve into tears, this is one of those songs. We lost my middle sister in September of 2021 and I just listened to it again and realized that this song is more directed towards her death than my daddy’s. And now I’m sitting in the waiting room waiting on my husband trying not to be a sobbing mess.
