    Hello again Ron and happy holidays! Hope you're having a nice Winter out in the desert. "Twelve-string players spend half their guitar time tuning and the other half playing out of tune." Heard that old joke before? Yours sounds great. Peace, man!

      Hey Mark! Luckily this one stays in tune about the best one could hope for. It’s been down to 20 a few nights here already. Im thinking we might see more cold than Id like, in the next couple months? Thanks for the comments and have a great holiday season! ✌️

      There’s another old saying that goes. Being a little out of tune just makes it sound like there’s more of us!

      @@Mountainrock70 That's a good one too. A corollary to that for electric players is if you can't tune then get a chorus pedal. Have a good Saturday night.

    Thanks. I'm trying to figure out which 12 string to buy . I've been playing acoustic and electric 6 strings for years . ( badly, I might add) . So I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Keeping up the good work.

    I bought the blonde like yours and also bought the deluxe sunburst. The blonde is the way to go. So loud and bassie compared to the deluxe. Absolutely no comparison.

    • @Mountainrock70
      @Mountainrock70  5 месяцев назад

      Wow that’s surprising. Going off the specs the wood is the same with the exception of flamed maple back and sides. Glad you didn’t just buy the deluxe!

    • @donchristianmusic9353

      @@Mountainrock70 the finish on the blonde is very thin, the other has a thick glossy finish. I also noticed a big difference in weight. Blonde very light compared to the deluxe. I believe the deluxe will last allot longer because it's so healthy built. I keep the blond tuned to d and the deluxe tuned to e. They both serve a purpose but the blonde is a true cannon.

    Yeah, I just bought one two days ago and I agree. Hadn't owned a 12 string in 30 years and decided I had to have one again and, yes, the Guild F2512E is one sweet guitar. Tuners kinda suck, but other than that, it's great!

    • @Mountainrock70
      @Mountainrock70  8 месяцев назад +2

      The more I play it, the more I like this guitar. I like the tuners. If you’re having problems, angle file those nut slots. The g and b strings can be tricky getting pinched in the nut slots.

    • @Unborn-Lives-Matter
      @Unborn-Lives-Matter 8 месяцев назад

      @@Mountainrock70It's not that the tuners (or strings) stick, it's that they feel a bit sloppy. I am used to Grovers and Waverly tuners which are very tight. These have some slop. Someday I will replace them with mini Grovers when I have the time IF the guitar lasts. Guild could not put on Grovers and keep the guitar at this price point. I am fine with that. The remainder of the guitar is FANTASTIC, as long as it lasts. I believe it will last fine. I down tune to D, two steps, so tension is MUCH less. It also has a much better bass response. I am having an absolute blast playing it!

    P.S. That's a good point about more string tension maybe hurting this Asian factory guitar a little if you went up from 10s to 12s. What about just putting on slightly bigger E, A and D bass strings and leaving the octaves and the G-B-E unison strings the same guage? Kinda like what a 'Hybrid Slinky' set does for the bass sound from a 6-string electric if you get my drift. That could get you some more bass volume when fingerpicking without putting a whole lot more overall pull on the neck. Maybe. I don't know, just an idea. It does sound pretty damn good right outa the box. If you get another at that killer price it might be fun to try a custom hybrid string set.

    • @Mountainrock70
      @Mountainrock70  10 месяцев назад

      I hear you. I just looked at Guild’s specs. The factory strings are D’Addario coated 10’s. Plain uncoated 10’s might be all it needs. The neck has some chunk and width, but the grain is definitely not old growth….

      @@Mountainrock70 That's a good idea. Sort of along this line, I just did a neck reset and "overall overhaul" on a friend's Taylor with the neck bowed-up beyond the available truss adjustment and he's a heavy fingerpicker that really digs in and beats one up. The action was ridiculously high and he didn't know why, and he still insisted I put his favorite Elixir 13-56s on it. I told him ok but plan on another reset in a few years. At least it's fairly easy to do on a Taylor. Bolt neck and shims. Good system really. But don't tell anyone about that... ha! Take it easy bro. If I get out your way I'll look you up.

    Can´t decide between this one or the Yamaha fg820. Would the mahogany body (sides and back) give it deeper basses than the bright maple of the Guild?

    • @Mountainrock70
      @Mountainrock70  6 месяцев назад +1

      Mahogany will be warmer for sure. A luthier friend about 30 years ago told me that “maple doesn’t influence the way a guitar sounds much. Maple back and sides let you hear exactly what the top sounds like. “ So I was told.

      @quigley4440 6 месяцев назад +1

      Played one for a few months before going to the LL16-12. A really good guitar for the money. Full sound and the warmth of the mahogany gave a nice tone but allowed the jangle to come thru. You won't be disappointed - great value for the money. Tried various guitars in that price range to compare - the Yamaha came out tops.

    The pickup is halfway decent, but it still has that mid-range "Quack".

    • @Mountainrock70
      @Mountainrock70  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah an under saddle piezo pickup just cant shake the quack. This pickup sounds much better than what comes in $800 range Epiphones however. Another thing I had to consider was my friends who don’t play guitar love the sound of this plugged in. Us guitar guys can be overly picky HA!

      @@Mountainrock70 It's not a matter of being "overly picky." You (and I) are absolutely right to want a guitar to sound like a guitar, not a quacking duck. The fact that a lot of people can't hear the difference doesn't change reality. Trust the evidence of your ears, baby!
