@@arrchee8386 - I hope things get better for the Chicago Bears. I am one of the few fans that didn't mind the Marc Trestman hire. Their offense his first season was great. The issue was they hired Mel Tucker as their DC and forced him to utilize a 4-3 defense when he prefers a 3-4 defense. His defenses the two years as DC for the Bears when Marc Trestman was the HC were two of the worst in Bears' history. When Bruce Arians was hired by the Cardinals, their defenses were 7th, 5th and 7th in the league in points allowed for 3 seasons. In Arians' last season with the Cardinals, the defense went from 5th in the league to 14th and his record fell from 13-3 to 7-8-1. If Marc Trestman had that kind of defense that Bruce Arians had his first 3 seasons in Arizona, he would have made the playoffs two consecutive seasons. In Trestman's first season, Josh McCown was the better QB and was playing great. When Jay Cutler came back, they ended up not making the playoffs. Not sure who made that decision but I imagine Marc Trestman felt an obligation to start Jay Cutler. Jay Cutler's career record vs. Green Bay was something like 2-11. The Bears were 8-6 and in a great position to make the playoffs. The last two weeks the defense gave up 54 and 33 points. That wasn't Marc Trestman's fault. In his 2nd season, the Bears were 3-3 and lost the next 3 games because the defense gave up 27, 51 and 55 points during those games. The Bears then won their next 2 games to get to 5-6. The next 3 weeks were losses because the defense gave up 34, 41 and 31 points. At that point, the season was over.
Ben Johnson has good offensive lineman, a Superbowl winning quarterback, and a strong leader in Campbell in place. That's why he's been successful. He would not do so well as head coach of the Bears
The end of the lions game sealed his fate, but man it would’ve been really nice to just hear Eberflus admit that he effed up by not calling the timeout instead of going the Shane Waldron route and doubling down saying they got it right I don’t know if it’s ego or lack of humility or just outright stupidity….but pretty unreal to listen to Eberflus say that they got it right
You have 5 weeks to see how Brown does. I don't get this whole "don't fire Thomas Brown" movement. He's got 5 games to prove himself, way more than any other coaching candidate will have. If the team is not whipped into shape and looking like a playoff caliber team by the end of the season, then he's out of here.
This seems really blown out of proportion. Caleb messed up. He needed to get the team to the line. Run the play, get a couple of yards and call a time out. Caleb changed the play, poorly handled the change, and couldn't execute the plan. Coach was fired for it. But ultimately this was Caleb's fault. 1000%
If they fired Eberflus earlier they may have had a respectable season. With the last opponents, I do not see anything different. Be thankful for a high draft choice, maybe draft an OL.

He has never led a team, and you will be brining in someone who has no experience of leading a locker room. Bears have been down this path, and I’m a little scared of doing it again.
"Haven't fired a coach mid season ever..." The Packers think this same way, this "we do it this way because that's the way we've always done it" type of thinking and it drives me crazy. Doing things the same way will get the same results. Are you winning championships regularly? No? Then why so stubbornly cling on to the way you do things?! KC can think this way, not teams that haven't won a Super Bowl in over a decade.
Well, GB is an annual playoff contender and can afford to be patient and develop. Imagine if the Lions fired Dan Campbell after two years of missing the playoffs, especially that first season with only 3 wins

@@artsoto5459hard to disagree with that since it worked for Detroit.
@@miketemple7686 there is a difference between being the leader of the team, and calling plays, players would run through a brick wall for Campbell, would they do the same for Ben Johnson?
Mike Vrabel 🎯
I hope Thomas Brown does well, but if he doesnt get a hc job, itd be smart for the new coach to keep him and keep the progression of CW steady with a familiar voice and scheme
Williams is a single decision away from having 3 different play callers in 2 seasons. Must be scary for Bears fans, seeing the same story for Mitch and Justin play out
@@Erik_Ice_Fangcaleb isnt having the worst rookie season in modern history so it’s not the same thing really
@@jusa9022 oh, he could have a promising future, I don't doubt that. But he is unfortunately dangerously close to spending his whole rookie contract where he will have to overcome the organization, not be uplifted by it (which is the case for every other NFC North QB)
So, how in the world did they end up with Matt Eberflus with the criteria that Kevin Warren presented here? There's no way in hell that Matt Eberflus meets these requirements.
The Bears are not in a position to hire a first timer again only for it to fail, Ben Johnson might be great but with our track record we CAN NOT recycle another coach in 1-3 years, not with Caleb
Again I ask...what evidence is everyone standing on to vouch for Ben Johnson who has never been a head coach for one day? I have yet to hear any logical reason that does not involve mentioning play-calling. We are hiring a HC, not a QB coach, not a play-caller, not an OC+.
I'm doing nothing as the coach except calling the timeout at 15 seconds. I would've been panicking before 20.
Ben Johnson going to Chicago would make me fucking sick
@Shane - I am assuming you are a Detroit fan. The Lions on the road outside the dome don't compare to what they do in a dome. The Bears play on grass, as you know. If the refs didn't call the horsecollar penalty which wasn't a horsecollar tackle, the Lions would only have scored 16 points.
I don't want the Bears to hire Ben Johnson. He is not as good an OC as Liam Coen who has taken Baker Mayfield to another level when their WR's were healthy.
The understanding was after the New England lose Poles wanted to fire him . But George said no so 3 more losses and now out of the playoffs. Thanks George
If Ryan isn't allowed to get his guy for whatever reason, likely money, then he ought to quit and expose George for what he's really all about

Who in their own right mind would wanna Coach there, with these two Goofballs running the Franchise ??? 🤦🏾♂️
I hope by these goofballs running the franchise you mean The MCaskey family and not Poles and Warren. The only consistency since we’ve won a playoff game is George MCaskey as chairman, dude is the real goofball and we are even bigger ones to expect anything to change before that does.
I don't see Bill belicheck going there either. Caleb is off script. Bill like stay in pocket throw on time and target. Offense mind coach is a must.
If they get Belichik, what's the point to keep Poles and Warren?
@archee - Bill Belichick is 75-90 without Tom Brady and is going to be 73 years old. There is absolutely ZERO chance the Bears hire Bill Belichick. It is remarkable that fans want him. It makes no sense.
Do you honestly think it is wise for the Bears to hire Bill Belichick when maybe he will be coaching for another 2 or 3 seasons and then the Bears have to go hire another coach? Bill Belichick is not going to be coaching into his late 70's.
Kevin Warren and Ryan Poles have stated that they are seeking a long-term solution at head coach.
I'm saying Poles & Warren would be gone if da Beears hire Belichik... So no way P & W would do such a thing.
Belichik becoming HC could only happen if Georgie wants Belichik... & Belichik would want full control.
@arrchee - Misunderstanding. I didn't realize that was what you were saying the first time I read your post.
It should be an interesting 6 to 8 weeks. Thomas Brown and Eric Washington have a lot to prove and also are probably looking forward to first time opportunities.
If Brown and Washington are not retained for 2025, I would be very surprised if the Bears don't hire an offensive minded coach.
@@YT-Holdings Heh heh, no worries... Only worry is they don't pick a quality HC...
Look at Sean Payton with Broncos in his 2nd yr... Playoffs bound. Of course there is Jimmy Harbaugh with the bolts... Playoff bound...
But then da Beears ownership will say they tried a veteran HC with John Fox...
idjot Beears ownership shudda hired Bruce Arians instead of trestman... Idjot Beears ownership seemed to be 'enamored' by 'good interviews'... Supposedly everlose and trestman had 'great interviews'... & they luv Bill Polian's advice!
Hey, in 2 seasons and 2/3rds, everlose made between $9-12 million!
Ben Johnson doesn't seem like the guy who will walk away from Detroit right now. Chicago needs more than a good coach.
Not everyone is cut out for the HC position 💯💯💯
Blaming your rookie QB for your ignorance while on the hot seat is absolutely wild. Eberflus mine as well said fire me right there.
Dude, give Thomas Brown a chance before you just throw out ideas.
Guys like that never get elevated, and they should be elevated all the time.
Vrabel as HC and josh mcdaniels as OC for Caleb has my intrigued.
Ben Johnson has good offensive lineman, a Superbowl winning quarterback, and a strong leader in Campbell in place. That's why he's been successful. He would not do so well as head coach of the Bears
He does not have a superbowl winning QB the rams traded Goff then won a superbowl where you been.
Goff a SB winning QB ?? Ok
Ryan Poles was clearly uncomfortable sitting there
NO! BJ is ours
BREAKING NEWS: Chicago Bears hire Cody Parkey as their new head coach!
Ryan Day gets called up.
No no no no no no. No. No! We neeeed to keep Ben! We don’t know how to cope yet!
The end of the lions game sealed his fate, but man it would’ve been really nice to just hear Eberflus admit that he effed up by not calling the timeout instead of going the Shane Waldron route and doubling down saying they got it right
I don’t know if it’s ego or lack of humility or just outright stupidity….but pretty unreal to listen to Eberflus say that they got it right
I agree with Rich
Warren is the reason the bears will not get a good coach. he is not a football person, he is a business person
I don't want Ben Johnson....I want to see how Thomas Brown does....The McKaskies brought in Dan Quin on a coach seat...they won't pay Johnson. ...😂
Vrabel to the Bears would be a good thing
Yeah i like Carrol or Belichick they are both established coaches now the question is would they even consider coming to the Bears and when u answer that question u got ur answer Lol for one the Bears will never pay the price for either of them and thats why they are in the position theyre in now. Believe me they will find some body under a rock that no ones ever heard of before and we as fans will be saying who the F is that i know thats what i said when i heard the name Eberflus.
The Bears have never hired a HC with NFL HC experience. So I expect it’s some offensive coordinator.
No Rich you actually got it wrong. Thry didn't let him talk with the media. He did that on his own before the meeting and poles and Kevin was like wtf he doing as chicago media confirmed and bears beat reporter and multople players
As a Bears fan big NO to Ben Johnson. No more first time head coaches! We want an experienced leader!
ben johnson said last offseason: he wont go to a team just to have ANY HC job. thats why he came back. he will wait for the best situation. not a crappy dysfunctional, clueless ownership team.
lions fans just have to face it, Ben Johnson is leaving after this year, as much as you hate it, Bears if they come knocking is the best team to jump ship for.
@metaalo. Absolutely. They have talent and a really good, potentially great young qb. He looks at that talent on offense and knows he can do damage. What other opening has that talent on its roster? Doesn’t mean it would be a guarantee to work, but it’s a good job.
@@metaalothe bears are a mess and the fact that you think differently just shows your delusion.
@@vincedidiana5781no it’s not. The ownership is awful. The gm is awful and Kevin Warren is awful. lol. The bears are gonna remain trash.
@ nonsense. The gm is trash. He took over an old, expensive, and awful roster in ‘22. Made some good moves, brought on a lot of talent, and got the qb of the future. He’s made mistakes, they all do. Even the best. Do some research before spewing uneducated nonsense.
Ben Johnson would be Nagy 2.0 please just get a guy who’s done it before. Also firing flus was the right thing, but if Caleb doesn’t change romes route don’t we get the time out? Why is no one talking about that
Belichick is the Top Pick because you don't need to change your current coaching staff.
Belichick lost his staff when Brady went to Tampa. His Coordinator was so good that they are Head Coaches now. Belichick still got Top Connections with all Coordinator cuz he Belichick everybody want to be his Coordinator.
So Thomas Brown and Eric Washington may still have a job as Coordinators. Belichick said he like Chicago Coordinators.
Chicago can use Belichick as a plug in and go Coach. He perfect to fix Chicago disfunctions.
You have to do whatever you can to dismantle what Detroit has built, you take their OC.
Why should Warren and Poles be retained?
Yes Flus has blown a ton of things, ball should have been snapped way sooner 5-7 yard gain timeout, field goal.
Bears need to get an established former head coach not a new shiny coordinator for HC and also fire Poles to bring in a better GM...
Poles has absolutely had misses (nate Davis, chase claypool, quan Smith, and these 2 coaches) but he has built a young high caliber team with alot of cap space and draft picks.. he should stay
@@theprodigy1401poles is trash, you can hire eberflus and then talk about accountability, but keep getting your hopes up because it’s great every year watching them fail you.
@afalseerra9517 there are alot of gas around the league that have swung and missed on coached, 2 or 3 years ago there were 10 hirings. He's not an ozzy newsome by any means, but compare this team 3 years ago to now, and the fleeing of Carolina
I think he lost the team when he put all the blame on Stevenson without taking any responsibility for the previous play call.
The talent has to be alluring to Ben Johnson but...that franchise is...that franchise. To be fair, the Lions were that franchise not that long ago but it's gotta put some doubt in your mind.
With the Niners all banged up, the Lions will have the NFC title in 2025.
Guys. If you actually think that Ben Johnson wants to play AGAINST Dan Campbell and that powerhouse Lions team twice per year and compete against that monster for the division, you really have no idea what is going on in Detroit. It is beyond special what they're doing up there and it's the reason that Ben has declined these "prestigious offers" in the past.
Do I think he leaves this year? Most likely, yes. But there is a higher chance he stays the Lions OC than moving to Chicago. Nothing but bear scat in that old hall..
I don't think the Lions coaching staff wants easy gimme wins. I actually wouldn't be surprised if Ben Johnson welcomes the challenge. Now Bill Belichick's staff, THEY didn't want to play quality opponents
Ugh the bears nearly swept the lions last and should have beaten them this year
@@stevemosley4084 "Should have"? Seems like the better coach won to me. The difference between the Bears and teams like the Lions or Vikings as that those other teams DO win close games, while the Bears lose them
Assuming a good coordinator will make a good coach is what brought Nagy and then EberLOSE to the Bears. 2 busy calling plays on 1 side of the ball to know when to call T.O. Or when NOT to challenge . Dude didn’t win a challenge ALL year
sounds like Mr. Warren wants Mr. Bill Belichick
Just described Jim Harbaugh
Mike vabrel best option to me that best fit
I just wish they would sale the team to someone who knows what’s going on
Well, Matt Eberflus at least can be proud to be a small part of nfl history. By which I mean he's the third consecutive incompetent coach that the Bears' ownership has allowed to wreck the development of a third consecutive first-round draft pick qb. Oh, and also he's the first coach Chicago has ever fired mid-season, but I think the fact that owners can be so incompetent twice as to screwed the pooch--and the qb--not once, not twice, but thrice in exactly the same way is the real piece of historical interest.
Everybody has critique that is negative but let me just say having Eberflus get up there on the podium and confidently say he was coaching the next game (Which Was clearly scripted by the front office to go the way it did ) and then being fired immediately afterwards was the best part of this whole debacle. Uberfloostered your profile has been deleted like Susan sickwedgie and marco overdose. Zuckerface is next let’s break it down 4 PRAEYA
Kellen Moore would make better sense than Ben Johnson.
Ben johnson is over hyped. i say go for someone older with actual hc EXP
leave us alone
better players needed
Will the Raiders have an opening?
Bears front office team looks and sounds lost. Could have Ran Carthon Disease.
The Bears should just back up the brinks truck and get Bill Belichick to get a credible organization going. They should have got Harbaugh. So now the must get Belichick
Why does everyone think Ben Johnson is going to be a great head coach? Can he be? Possibly, but let’s be real not all great coordinators are great head coaches. He has never led a team, and you will be brining in someone who has no experience of leading a locker room. Bears have been down this path, and I’m a little scared of doing it again.
You’d think being around football as long as he has, he would be better in the situational part of the game. He just simply doesn’t get it
"Haven't fired a coach mid season ever..." The Packers think this same way, this "we do it this way because that's the way we've always done it" type of thinking and it drives me crazy.
The defense will get Vrabel and hopefully a shiny 1st round DL
This is normal. Watch, we will win a few games ,look nice, get our hopes up, and then they will be horrific to start next year and will tell us "well practice was good". Only have my entire life of track record as proof. At least Papa Bear isnt around to see what is dumb children are doing.
Offseason champs every year
Poles gave us Eberflus, and he supervised the hiring of Shane Waldron and Luke Getsy and built a team with weak O and D lines etc. Poles has been exposed as not being good enough.
Not to mention Velus Jones, fourth round punter, 2nd round pick for one year player, cast off centers, frequently injured linemen instead of Jalen Carter….
Ben Johnson is not gonna pick Chicago, if he's smart
Poles warren press conference looked like a boy who showed up to the house of the kid hes been bullying being forced to apologize
high standards and tuff dont go together
Go get Ryan Day! Wait, he signed for another year with Ohio State, right?
The arrogance of analysts to say Ben Johnson will leave after this year.......LMAO 😂. Pray tell me experts, who leaves the best organization in football ON PURPOSE!?!?!? The Lions have the BEST frint office organization in the ENTIRE league. Only IDIOTS leave that!
Ben, stay and we will give you a statue!
Eberflus was the worst coach in Chicago sports history.
They should have left him on the tarmac in Detroit
So many points of failure on this one. Holy crap was it mishandled from the beginning of the play itself to just after the firing. Totally botched in a way I can barely articulate.
The bears 🐻 grabage they will not get a good coach
Too bad they didn't go after harbaugh
I wanna get folks take. Bears fan, extremely open to Johnson…but let’s not lock in on him like he’s a sure thing. Poles and Warren need to find out if he’s the leader and voice the players need. Not saying he can’t be that guy, but we just don’t know. Hard to gauge because I’d be willing to be Dan Campbell has completely control and authority of the lions. Ben Johnson could very well turn out to be Matt Nagy 2.0
Thomas brown might be able to assert himself as top guy if he shows he can be that voice and produce
Poles and Warren hired eberflus and waldren, if you think those two morons are gonna hire the right coach then I don’t know what to tell you. The bears will continue to suck.
@ the mccaskeys and bill polian made poles pick between Eberflus, Quinn and Jim Caldwell. Hardly the coaching search poles wanted I’m sure
As an organization they’re bad … and killing a very talented young quarterback… 😅
