What is Acho talking about?! The Seahawks only missed the playoffs twice in Russ’s whole career (2017 and 2021). In 2017, their FK, Blair Walsh, torpedoed a would-be 13-3 record by missing 4 in-range, game-winning FGAs. I’ve always wondered if he was paid off, but I digress. The 2017 season was arguably Russ’s finest, and he had ZERO run game and accounted for 90% of the Seahawks’ offense, including all but one TD. In 2018, Russ dragged the Seahawks to the playoffs while again putting together one of his most productive and efficient years (throw-for-throw nearly matching MVP Mahomes, btw), with a lead receiver who was so badly injured that he had to retire after the season. The Seahawks finished 10-6, traveled to Dallas for the wildcard, and lost because Pete Carroll kept running the ball against a stout Dallas D-Line that had their number all might, and despite Russ and the passing game firing on all cylinders. That game led to fans calling “Let Russ Cook.” It made everybody in Seattle sick, and it was the beginning of the end of Russ tolerating Pete Carroll’s ineptitude. In 2019 Russ was the MVP favorite until about week-10. He put the team in the playoffs and Pete Carroll blew a playoff fans vs. the 49ers on bad clock management. In 2020, the Seahawks won the division title while Russ set personal highs in yards and TDs! In 2021, Russ was injured (healthy for only 9 games of that season but appeared in 14) and still nearly put the team in the playoffs! 2015: 10-6 (Team injured, Lynch retired) 2016: 10-5-1 Playoffs (Russ injured) 2017: 9-7 (13-3 if not for Blair Walsh!) 2018: 10-6 Playoffs 2019: 11-5 Playoffs 2020: 12-4* Division Title, Playoffs Russ threw more yards and TDs during that period than he did during the three years he had an intact LoB (2012-2015), and he averaged 11 wins per season without them. *Russ’s Stats* 2015: 4,024 Yds, 34 TDs, 8 INTs, 68.1% Complete, 110.1 Passer Rating. Half the LoB was injured, and Marshawn Lynch had (fake) retired to force his way out of Seattle a year later. The LoB was never the same after the previous season’s loss to the Patriots in SB49. RB Thomas Rawls out for the season. Russ set an almost unrivaled record for passing over a 7-week period. 2015 record: 10-6, Playoffs, Lost divisional round to Carolina after beating Minnesota. 2016: 4,219 Yds, 21 TDs, 11 INTs, 64.7% Complete, 92.6 Passer Rating. Russ severely injured but played through it. Earl Thomas out for season. 2016 record: 10-5-1, Playoffs 2017: 3,983 Yds, 34 TDs, 11 INTs, 61.3% Complete, 95.4 Passer Rating. Broke Tim Brady’s single season record for individual offense, accounting for 90% of the Seahawks offensive be production, including all but one TD. Keep in mind that in only including passing TDs in these stats listings. 2017 record: 9-7, Missed Playoffs because of Blair Walsh, who missed 4 in-range game-winning FGAs. The Seahawks should’ve finished 13-3 that year and would’ve done it either way a shell of the D called the LoB. 2018: 3,448 Yds, 35 TDs, 7 INTs, 65.6% Complete, 110.9 Passer Rating. Controlling for the difference in pass attempts between Russ and MVP Mahomes, Russ threw for the equivalent of 4,800 Yds, 49 TDs, and 9 INTs. Mahomes’s stats were 5,097 Yds, 50 TDs, and 12 INTs. Given Russ’s comparative lack of weapons and protection, the NFCw’s status as the toughest division in football during the 2010s, and Pete Carroll’s obvious inferiority to Andy Reid as a HC, which QB was really better that year? 2018 record: 10-6, Playoffs, lost Wildcard round to Dallas 2019: 4,110 Yards, 31 TDs, 5 INTs, 66.1% Complete, 106.3 Passer Rating. Russ was the MVP frontrunner for 2/3 of the season. 2019 record: 11-5, Playoffs, Lost divisional round to 49ers. 2020: 4,212 Yards, 40 TDs, 13 INTs, 68.6% Complete, 105.1 Passer Rating. 2020 record: 12-4, Division Title, lost divisional round to Packers? 2021: 3,113 Yds, 25 TDs, 8 INTs, 64.8% Complete, 103.1 Passer Raring. Injured throwing and required emergency surgery the next day but still put up respectable stats. Appeared in 14 games, was healthy for just 9 of them and won 7 of those 9. 2021 record: 7-7, Barely missed the playoffs. In the four seasons between 2018 and 2021 inclusive, Russ’s stats were nearly identical to those of Rodgers and Mahomes. From 2017 to 2021, Russ was the league’s top overall passer, setting numerous season and career efficiency records and breaking several streaks and career volume records held by greats like Montana, Rodgers, Manning, and Unitas. He also remained a top rusher. At what point do coaches get twos accountable? The Seahawks’ playoff losses weren’t Russ’s fault, they were Pete Carroll’s, and he should’ve been fired years before he was. I would’ve fired him after SB49!
I really wish Acho would stop saying the Seahawks stopped winning playoff games in 2016… Russ and the Seahawks last playoff win was in 2020 right before he went to Denver. The Seahawks were still winning playoff games in the Let Russ Cook era. I’ve heard him say this at least twice before and it’s not true!

In and out they haven't really had a chance to get into a groove. I think I saw Rich Eisen mention that they only had three starters from the Super Bowl that played against the Bills
As a 49er fan, hindsight is 20/20. And seeing how the season has gone so far. @@l.r9655 CMC does. He's the 4th highest paid offensive player on the 49ers behind Trent Williams, Deebo and Aiyuk. If you make nearly $20M a year, that's bigtime money. That means you're taking up like something like 8-10% of the cap.
Not a shame? Listening to these commentators!! Purdy great...McC... injuries is part of the game. Family that is heart breaking. 49ers got a lot of credit from you guys and can't make good on the bill!!! Take account for your words🤡🤡🤯💯
Yea injuries are a part of the game. But you can’t have this many injuries on star/key players and still be good. 9ers have sustained success. majority of them are getting old, it’ll be best to judge the team next year on how they perform.
Think of it this way, two of their best players had deaths of children, and their first-round pick was shot. That's not a common situation for ANY team in ANY sport, even if you go over a five-year span. For some of these guys (and yes, those situations are affecting the WHOLE team), football is happening while the world is telling them to focus elsewhere. I want to see them do better, but I can wait a year.
The biggest issue this year was the way the office handled the off-season. DC was a terrible pick. Special teams have been an issue that has never been addressed under Kyle. Contract issues are becoming too common with this team. Kyle needs to focus on the team as a whole and not just the offense. The lines are both sides of the ball has been an issue with little depth. Kyle is a great offense coach but he needs to be a head coach.
Great teams make their own luck. Look at the chiefs last year, barely made the playoffs, led the nfl team with the most drop passes, no home field through the playoffs, beat the number 1 team ravens and still won the Super Bowl.
huge 9ers fan. the main issue is team depth. several "stars" but when they go down, we are so thin. in addition, kyle has said several times he will not spend on the OL but rather rely on the "stars" that score. no "stars" plus average OL equal defeat in the nfl.
I think Shady is partially right about complacency, but the other part is the Trey Lance and CMC trades. Its another reason they are one of the oldest teams in the league. They have not been able to get cheap blue chip talent to replace some of these old expensive players. In the last 3 years, my Eagles were able to draft Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Nolan Smith, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean. (Also guys like Sydney Brown, Jaylx Hunt, Kelee Ringo, and Moro Ojomo that dont start, but play). All cheap defensive players that we have on controlled cost for 4-5 years....and it enabled them to build the #1 defense, and be the youngest defense in the league.
That and not trading Aiyuk before draft when they could have gotten picks to help build depth and address needs. Teams like the Bengals clinging to Higgins and 49ers not moving off Aiyuk (both definitely good but not elite receivers) are points where those organizations could have pivoted but instead kept status quo at a higher price.
The other thing they are complacent about is Shanahan always just running his system whether players are there or not. He never adjusts to the players that remain. He doesn't tailor to the players available. It is his system or nothing. He isn't flexible as a coach or maybe he just outsmarts himself.
What do you mean haven’t drafted well in the past 3 drafts. 22 draft Purdy and Buford, 23 draft Jayir Brown, Dee Winters, our whole 24 draft class was good starter- Pearsall, starter-Renardo Green, starter-Puni, starter Mustafa, Gurendo will be starting now due to injury.
What has happened to us would be like yall losing A.J. brown for the season, yall best offensive lineman, Saquan Barkley only playing 3 games, Your number 1 corner being in and out the lineup and dealing with the death of a child. Your number 1 draft pick getting shot and missing the first 6 games, your second best linebacker not playing, your starting RT most of the season, your best defensive player missing the two biggest games of the season on your schedule, your pro bowl or in our case our All-Pro Safety only playing 2 games this year. Like come on man you have to stop with all your are talking about 😂😂😂 tbh I think with just Saquan and AJ Brown being out for the season would leave yall with 3 wins 😂😂😂
You tweeted about “why don’t we talk about the Vikings more”? It’s because the media is obsessed with talking about broken teams this year like the 49ers and Cowboys who aren’t playoff bound
As a niners fan, the answer is obvious: Kyle Shanahan. He's the one constant during the regime. His scheme was figured out and he's too stubborn to adjust
The Niners have been dealing with injuries. They just pushed through it and now everything has caught up with them. They won't be the same for a while.
The problem is Kyle shanahan and John Lynch suck at first round picks. In their tenure they only have two successful first-round picks, thats bosa and ayuik. They have nothing else to show for all the draft capital they've had. What we are witnessing are the results of bad drafting and throwing away draft picks for Trey Lance.
Hate when people speak but don't know what they're talking about. Since 2010 the Steelers had top notch offenses they lacked a championship level defense. Especially after Shazier went down. Let's be clear up until Ben's last two - three years offense wasn't the problem, defense was. Since Ben retired offense has been a huge issue and Russ, so far, is solving that issue.
He will only resolve the issue if they win a playoff game, which I think will be hard, I don’t care if you score 44 on the bengals, when the week before you close in Cleveland and the week before the game was low scoring and they were saved by Justin tuckers misses. This offense is inconsistent, the cook bad defenses and can’t score or terrible in the red zone against the okay to goods ones and I don’t see how they can win multiple playoff games because every defense is good except maybe the ravens and they are getting better. If they don’t what is the difference to last year or the year prior. And that will determine Russ’s future at the Steelers, unless he takes another minimum which he should, because if he can’t take you this year why spend the money on him for his year older self.
As a Seahawks fan, I enjoy to see the 40Whiners fall back in the whole like we did to them in 2013 championship game. They suck for 5 straight years after that lost lol😄😄
Love how the same guys that were crapping on Purdy for having these "great" weapons around him but now realize that Purdy was elevating their game where most had their best careers when Purdy arrived
we need a retooling. trade these older players and make way for the younger guys. we still have pieces like aiyuk, mason, brock for another year, jennings pearsall and get rid of moody and ward
The niners had their window of opportunity to win 2 Super Bowls and had their fair share of winning seasons of but things not going their way to catching up to them this season. No WR’s except Jennings because Deebo sucks. Should’ve had a 2 headed backfield instead of giving CMC his old workload again, injuries and more.
Only when mahomes and Reid retire will the niners and Kyle be allowed to win a SB. Including, a newer roster. None of these geriatric and or injury prone core players will be around for a SB win with the niners
I love how the argument against the ravens game is they only won with field goals rather than how did the all mighty ravens offense lose to only field goals.
1)Special Teams and Jake Moody. 2) Also Bosa and Trent out. 3)New Defensive coordinator. 4)Aiyuk out. 5)Purdy hurt. 6) McCafferty is injured. 7)No Dre Greenlaw. 8) O line is weak
There is nobody to blame except the NFL for giving the 49ers one if the toughest schedules to play in. And of course all the injuries that have happened to the team both on offense and defense. And alot of tragedy of the field starting with the shooting of one of there top receivers. So this year has been a curse to the team so if they were all healthy on the field playing at full strength they would be just fine. Hopefully next year they can all be healthy and be ready to reclaim there greatness.
With all of those injuries, I don't know that you can actually "blame" anyone. Those injuries aren't to practice squad players. Those injuries are to starters that make a difference.
Ole boy said next year they'll be back in the superbowl. Homie they can't keep players since Purdy contract is up. Deebow gone Trent retires, come on man.
I am by no means a 49ers fan and I know “next man up” and “no excuses and all” but when you lose that much talent on your roster to injury, it will eventually come back to bite you!!
One thing for certain. The Niners front office can't trade for future first round picks like that they did with the Trey Lance debacle. If Brock Purdy gets an extension, John and Kyle better fix the OL and address them in the draft. No excuses. If not, Brock will be just like the running backs where their careers are cut short because of injuries. Brock already went through the elbow surgery and is now dealing with the shoulder because of the scrambling and running for his life. John and Kyle need to address the big elephant in the room.
Lions got over 15 Players on IR And, STILL Got The Best Record in the NFL… Despite the Injuries, the Lions are the Best Team in the NFL… I get it about the injuries, but SF is Top Heavy… Their Depth is atrocious
10:48 that's a lie Shady. That's the one big weakness Aiyuk has....he drops a lot of easy passes...passes that would be TD's and first downs. He's been like that since a rookie.
I think they hold off on paying Purdy too. Last year of contract prove that you deserve 50-60K. I think he's more a 30-40K QB, right now, regardless of what the market is.
“We havent seen this since 05-08”, “in half century” Do they not remember Big Ben throwing for 6 TD’s TWICE?? They act like ben was carried… Ben had 7 28+ TD seasons! A 5100 Yd season come onnnn. I normally agree with you guys but that was awful take on Pittsburgh.
If Jalen hurts was in Purdy situation Acho would be blaming Hurts Acho said Purdy is on Hurts level but doesn’t hold him to the same accountability though
I love how Shady and his two participation rings loves to hate on Rodgers for only winning one. Especially having played with McNabb and Vick and won none with them.

Damn, seeing it listed out like that just confirms it: Howie the best GM in the league.
The NFC caught up with the 49ers. The team been running the same plays and it's not working anymore 😡.
I’m an eagles fan, and despite how things went with the niners last season I feel bad for how their season is going
Don't. Feel bad for the players' children who were lost. Can't imagine losing a child like that.
People forget how good Russ was back in Seattle. Go check the stats.
Was there not a game on last night😂😂??
As a niners fan, the answer is obvious: Kyle Shanahan. He's the one constant during the regime. His scheme was figured out and he's too stubborn to adjust
The Niners have been dealing with injuries. They just pushed through it and now everything has caught up with them. They won't be the same for a while.
I remember when hargrave talked all this trash last year where he at this year
Out for the season Torn tricep 2nd or 3rd game this season
I’m not paying the niners QB 50/60 million, average to above average at best
The problem is Kyle shanahan and John Lynch suck at first round picks. In their tenure they only have two successful first-round picks, thats bosa and ayuik. They have nothing else to show for all the draft capital they've had. What we are witnessing are the results of bad drafting and throwing away draft picks for Trey Lance.
Prayers to the little ones ❤
Thank you. Thought i was only one losing my mind!! Ben throwing for 6 TD’s twice. 5000yd season.
Also you are so wrong about Bens last two years. He had 55TD’s and 20 INT’s last two years and just under 8000 yds. Like, he was not bad
Prayers go out. To 49ers loss❤😮😢
So you’re saying it’s all due to “cockiness.” I agree😂
Hahaha yes they are cocky
Chase kills me talking like he was a successful QB!!
Ok what about KC they have had lots of hart players
I had a longer career than Mark Sanchez and others that talk more.
😂😂😂
Acho doesn't?
Excuses for 49ers. Blamed it on DC last year and he’s going to playoffs with Seattle
He's not with Seattle
Shady is right.
Aiyuk’s deal been in place. He’s the one that wouldn’t sign
As a Seahawks fan, I enjoy to see the 40Whiners fall back in the whole like we did to them in 2013 championship game. They suck for 5 straight years after that lost lol😄😄
Love how the same guys that were crapping on Purdy for having these "great" weapons around him but now realize that Purdy was elevating their game where most had their best careers when Purdy arrived
we need a retooling. trade these older players and make way for the younger guys. we still have pieces like aiyuk, mason, brock for another year, jennings
pearsall and get rid of moody and ward
So The Facility has never heard of injuries to main starting players.
They literally said that the main problem
Poor drafting by Shanahan and lynch. Trey Lance trade debacle has caught up to them.
John lynch and shanahan are to blame.
Mafia here!!! Shady to studious 😏
GO BILLS 💙 ❤️
Billl boooo 49s would have been in the sb with chiefs again or lions but not billllasss
@sandra969 It's time for you to put your skirt in the dryer!
GO BILLS 💙 ❤️
It's the Super Bowl Jinx!
Shout out to CVS for how wasteful they are with 3Foot Receipts😮
Russell from Va, im rocking wit em💪💪💪💪
He’s from Cincinnati
But he grew up in RICHMOND VA😁
Injuries are going to happen, especially for a team that goes deep in the playoffs every year. All those extra games can wear you down.
Everything went south from them giving 30M to B A....but the thing involving the children is so freaking devastating man
The niners had their window of opportunity to win 2 Super Bowls and had their fair share of winning seasons of but things not going their way to catching up to them this season. No WR’s except Jennings because Deebo sucks. Should’ve had a 2 headed backfield instead of giving CMC his old workload again, injuries and more.
The 49ers had their window to win a Super Bowl twice in five years, both times to the Chiefs.
Only when mahomes and Reid retire will the niners and Kyle be allowed to win a SB. Including, a newer roster. None of these geriatric and or injury prone core players will be around for a SB win with the niners
For people saying you cant blame the coaches or owners. When this happened to Mike Tomlin and the Steelers he didnt fall below .500
Injuries and the crazy personal stuff has been bizarre.
The list of injured players didn’t even include everyone that has been hurt. Just crazy.
I love how the argument against the ravens game is they only won with field goals rather than how did the all mighty ravens offense lose to only field goals.
Russell Wilson is 9-7 in the playoffs. Won a game at Detroit in 2017 and Philadelphia in 2020. Home lose to Rams in 2021 was his last.
Forgot punters out too
1)Special Teams and Jake Moody.
2) Also Bosa and Trent out.
3)New Defensive coordinator.
4)Aiyuk out.
5)Purdy hurt.
6) McCafferty is injured.
7)No Dre Greenlaw.
8) O line is weak
Still birth mid season definitely has an effect on bro. That's so sad
Shady really taking credit for 2 Super Bowls he had absolutely nothing to do with other then keeping them benches warm 😂
Shady bro u were Rb3 on those Championship teams never forget it
I’m surprised he doesn’t wear those rings every where he goes
@@BenZepeda-s5e😂😂😂
Same score ravens put up on dem bills😭😭
Let Deebo go as long as they keep Jennings. Deebo hasn’t been special since 2019. Trent is too injury prone, time to get some young blood in there
Literally every star on their team😳😳
12:00 all yall told me that Justin Fields should be the starter
I am by no means a 49ers fan and I know “next man up” and “no excuses and all” but when you lose that much talent on your roster to injury, it will eventually come back to bite you!!
Shady is spot on.
The 49ers are damn near the most injured team mentally and physically
Lions got over 15 Players on IR
And, STILL Got The Best Record in the NFL…
Despite the Injuries, the Lions are the Best Team in the NFL…
I get it about the injuries, but SF is Top Heavy…
Their Depth is atrocious
10:48 that's a lie Shady. That's the one big weakness Aiyuk has....he drops a lot of easy passes...passes that would be TD's and first downs. He's been like that since a rookie.
Did he just say old Russell Wilson better then prime Big Ben 🥴
I think they hold off on paying Purdy too. Last year of contract prove that you deserve 50-60K. I think he's more a 30-40K QB, right now, regardless of what the market is.
Acho doing to much putting the players private losses on display...he has to be the thirsty on the show for shock value
It’s not private though. News sites reported this hours ago
“That is why what the Kansas City Chiefs and Tom Brady did is so impressive”
"All your cornerstone players are old." Yes, and injured.
The LOB went 7-9 before Russ showed up
Aren’t most of those players who HAD been injured playing in most of those losses? 😢🤷♂️
If Jalen hurts was in Purdy situation
Acho would be blaming Hurts
Acho said Purdy is on Hurts level but doesn’t hold him to the same accountability though
I hate when analysts say “Steelers always had that defense” Because clearly they werent watching us during the killer Bs era😂
Shady switch his whole stance when it comes to the Cowboys. The Cowboys front office been way more complacent than the Niners smh.
I love how Shady and his two participation rings loves to hate on Rodgers for only winning one. Especially having played with McNabb and Vick and won none with them.
Very good team for a while, injuries and bad luck. I wish they have this energy for other teams tooo
KC just paid the right dudes instead of SF, don’t pay Aiyuk, pay some referees!
Injuries are apart of the gm, last year they was one of the most healthy teams in the league, we don’t care
It’s hard to believe this Steelers offense better than the killer bees
2022 season in Denver humbled Russ.
James is correct
They are full of a bunch of injury plaque players with a history...
