Hi, very informative tutorial. Sir I need guidance regarding : Instead of storing the no. of pictures in a worsheet is it possible if I select a unique rollno or sno from a dropdown it fetches the image from the path given in the worksheet adjacent to rollno eg Rollno Path 10001 d:\photo\10001.jpg 10002 d:\photo\10002.jpg So on . Kindly guide
Thanks for your video. Can you load the picture directly from local/network drive instead of the picture from the other sheet? Ex: once user enter EmployeeID, it will load the picture of that employee from the drive where there are hundreds of thousands employees' pictures. Thanks a lot
Hi Chandoo, It's a cool way to lookup pictures, thanks for sharing. I am wondering if you can share how to lookup pictures out of the same file. What I mean is I type the name of what I want to look up a product, for example, just type the product code eg. #12345 in an excel file or any worksheet that also could do the lookup.
Do you have an excel tutorial where I'm going to upload a picture then it will automatically placed inside a shape (like circle or square) in other sheet? thanks
hi chandoo, your tutorial is awesome and then i'm following this tutorial step by step but i can't find *Paste Special -> Linked Picture* in Excel 365, can you help me please?
Hi!. First of all, sorry for my English... The video is excellent!. I tried to do this exercise with a table (I inserted a table), but I couldn't do that (I had problem with the references). Is it possible do using a table?. Thank you. Greetings from Uruguay!!
Hey Yuri. Thanks for the comment. I suggest using fixed range. While you can do this with tables, there are no advantages for this particular situation.
that was interesting, i just had a thought what if, there are two gayatris working in my organization, which data am I going to visible,, obviously the first one, so can we trick it where we get options on the side, asking if you are looking for Gayatri Lastname 1 or Gayatri last name 2 or say Gayatri from management dept. or Gayatri from tech dept.
this is good but i need pickup images from my drives its possible, i have total 25 images in my drive i dont paste individually in excel i want excel pickup images from my selected folder?
Hi Chandoo, I used Vlookup, formula works in a cell. But when I put tje vlookup formula to the name manager, I got "reference is not valid" error :( Any idea about that? Thnaks
Beware of using this in a workbook with VBA "for" and "with" loops. It seems to slow code execution down by a factor of 11 (eleven)! Remove the linked picture object and you're back to normal speed again. You can verify by re-building the picture object and re-running. Things go back to slow as molasses and almost crashing during execution. I can't figure out exactly whats going on here, but I'd guess a bug. Took months to figure out why macros were running so slow!
Why so long cut sir? Already you had explained this long long ago using INDIRECT. Even this can be used by INDEX,MATCH or OFFSET. I remember your file which was using INDIRECT (Select Chart to Display)
Hello, thanks for the video. This doesn't work for me, because when you click cell H5, you have a special variable "dynamic picture" and my excel doesn't do this just by clicking. Can you explain? edit: also, if I take out in your file example the "=employee_pic" that is in the picture, and then insert it again, it has the same issue as me "Reference is not valid", so I'm a bit surprised by doing the exact same thing, it does not work. Is it my excel?
Hmm.. are you using Excel on desktop or some other tool (Excel online / open office etc.)? Also, check the reference name formula and rewatch the video if you have trouble.
Check your picture link logic. If you exclude the sheet name then the picture link might refer to the range on current sheet instead of the pictures worksheet.
You need to point out at the start, that this only works for Microsoft 365. I just wasted watching and following along with half the video......no good if you have Office 2019.
With Xlookup wildcard searching became very easy.... Thanks Chandoo...
awesome technique! will surely apply this.
Thanks Chandoo, very very usefull and amazing it.
always more than great Chandoo ♥
BEAUTIFUL. I LOVE YOU
hi instead of a drop down or search entries, can we use another image to move forward and backward? like a powerpoint sequence. thanks!
thanks for sharing, can image lookup be done through power query
Wish You and Your Family a very very Happy New Year 2021.
GREAT fresh look at new year .
Thanks! Kindly make some video on POWERBI
Hi Chandoo , thanks for sharing I will be having a shot ! have a safe and merry Christmas with family and look forward to your videos in 2021
Thanks Silvana.. Wish you and your family a merry Christmas & happy new year 2021.
Awesome Sir, thanks for this technique :)
Most welcome!
Useful & Really Nice ! :)
Glad to hear that!
This technique is very very unique because of Spilled functionality inbuilt within XLOOKUP.....
Thanks Nirmal :)
Hi Chandoo. Very interesting technique! Looking forward to studying it further. Thanks for sharing :)) Thumbs up!!
Thank you! Cheers!

Not really. You can use VBA for these kinds of things. Here is my getting started with VBA tutorial - ruclips.net/video/5k-KpSkrROw/видео.html

After typing name in the search box, how do you keep your cell from going to cell below after pressing enter?

Good point. Give it a try with the sample data and let me know how you implement it.

Can we creaate same form multiple name manger in different sheet
I’m getting error “reference isn’t valid” after trying to replace image reference with employee_to_show

If I don't have xlookup yet another function is there any way
You can use INDEX+MATCH to the same thing. For example, XLOOKUP(A1, B10:B20, C10:C20) becomes INDEX(C10:C20, MATCH(A1, B10:B20, 0))
useful kmowledge. May I have an excel file?
Please find the link in the video description.
This doesn't work when I copy to other excel workbook. Is there a solution to this?
Not sure what you mean "when copying". See the download file and make sure all the names are created too.
Hi Chando, I cannot find the link to download the file, could you direct me?
Why so long cut sir? Already you had explained this long long ago using INDIRECT. Even this can be used by INDEX,MATCH or OFFSET. I remember your file which was using INDIRECT (Select Chart to Display)
Hi Rajan... Both are valid methods. This one shows few more tricks with XLOOKUP and fetching team members.
it gives me an error "reference isnt valid", anyone help

Noice.
😍
Why the salary of Gayatri is less than Jackie :-)
haha.. as RANDARRAY() that...
