You're an angel, this is so clear and helpful!! Thank you so much!!
Thank you so very much for this tutorial! I'm working on my first shawl collared cardigan and I couldn't get the same number of pick up stitches following the pattern.
Now I'm able to make my own calculations and don't need to follow the pattern instructions.
You're a life saver! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Yay for you, Lee, this is so wonderful to hear! Thanks so much for the lovely feedback! ❤️
Brilliant! Just what I was looking for to maker a deeper shawl collar than appears in the pattern I'm working on. Thank you.
Good timing, Happy knitting.
Thank you , I have been struggling with this , my pattern simply says turn for a shawl collar. Leaving obvious areas in the material. Trying to make a cardigan for my granddaughter. Your method has worked wonderfully for me.
You are so welcome!
Thank you, I am saving this! I may go ahead and make a sample like yours that'll help me when I get to my shawl collar project later this year and I'll mark it with this link to guide me later.
What a great idea! I am all about swatching.
Thank you! Happy knitting.

You're very welcome, Gloria!
This video is amazing! Exactly what I needed answered!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH❤️
Of course, because it is my brain, watching this made me wonder if you could use this technique for the heel flap in socks?
Love from MN❤️
In a way, yes, it can. I love thinking knitters.
Hi Suzanne, great tutorial!!! Maybe I missed out but the wraps & turns should be worked until.... when?? Until the beginning of the V shape?
Yes, correct
Essential video to demonstrate the concept described in the ITAG Cardigan pattern. Unfortunately, I created a short row on every stitch of my vee slope instead of every other stitch. Unknitting this section has been a struggle. I have found little to no help anywhere demonstrating or describing how to tink wrapped short rows, any suggestions? Thanks. UPDATE: I frogged this section and started over from the picked up button band stitches. Also adjusted my ratio - w&t 2 out of 3 stitches on the vee. It’s turning out great. But still want to learn how to unpick wraps 😊
This is a great question. I am adding this topic to my video todo list. Thank you.
Thank you for this, Suzanne. I am about to work my first shawl collar and I could not imagine what was happening just by reading the pattern so your video made it all clear. My pattern is a Sirdar pattern for a toddler but it says to pick up one stitch for every row on the V section of the fronts and it also has increased stitches on the back neck on the first row. Is there any reason for this ? Many thanks.
How did it work out? Were you successful? I am so sorry for this late reply, your post got buried in a bunch of others.
@@SuzanneBryan Thank you for getting back to me Suzanne. Yes, it all worked out great. It took a lot of head scratching but I got there in the end !

V pretty mam thanks
Thank you! Happy knitting.
This is really helpful. I do have a Question though, is there a difference if you were to do this I guess backwards? What I mean is when you work them you go to the first stitch in the section and work the wnt then when you come back conceal it and work the next wnt on the next stitch. What if you work to the last stitch in the section wnt then when you come back you stop 1 stitch before the wrapped stitch and work the wnt on the the stitch before. And then once you are done you work 2 rows and conceal each wrap as you come to it. I don't know if that makes any sense but I have worked a pattern that had the shawl collar worked that way instead.
Great question. Yes, there is a huge difference in whether you do increasing or decreasing short rows. I demonstrate increasing short row here and this create a fabric that is straight across the back neck. If you were to substitute decreasing short rows, you would end up with a convex shape across the back neck, like a half circular peaking at the center and being shallower at the edges. It would not work with this particular pattern.
