Thank you! Your technique makes so much sense. I have been embarrassed to leave the jogs in a hat. Now I can do it much better. I noticed that you knit the continental stitch exactly the way I do, using the middle finger to lay the yarn over the tip of the needle. You explain the steps very clearly, which is most helpful.
Remember Jack Nicholson saying to Helen Hunt in As Good As It Gets, "You make me want to be a better man"? Well, you make me want to be a better knitter. And I know I have improved because of you. I can never know everything but I am very pleased when I realize I have made progress. Thank you so much!
Worked like a dream! I'm so pleased at how this technique turned out in my current project. Your videos are always my first "go to" options when I need to use any particular application. It is like having you sitting here in my home giving me step by step instructions. Thank you!
Thank you for your expertly filmed and narrated tutorials. You're often the difference between knitters taking on new techniques and just giving up. I'm making a striped bunny and now its going to be awesome!
This is just an amazing technique. I've been knitting for 60 years and have done some really complicated patterns. I've just found your videos and I've learned so much. I so wish I'd found you years ago! Thanks so much!!! I've recommended your channel to everyone I know who knits even if they are beginners!!!
Thank you so much, Terrie, I appreciate your kind feedback! I also have a Facebook page (same name) that is full of knitters at every level and we love to help, please check it out. 😊
Got a perfect outcome with a few bright stripes on a baby sweater! Thank you so much for excellent vid, you’re the best, absolutely. Been knitting over a year now and knitting peers are amazed at my progress. It’s because of your teaching and resources!
I made a little swatch this morning and was amazed how nice your method looks. I had seem your method in a book, but it didn't show it magnified like your video shows. Your video shows so clearly where the duplicate stitches are placed. Thank you so much for the video and the explanation. It really is great!
Yes, I think it is worth the effort to make swatches trying new techniques. Now, I am keeping some knitting worsted weight yarn and needles near my iPad to do swatches. I used to not take the time to do swatches, thinking I was wasting time. But using larger yarn and needles really helps seeing what I am doing. I usually make projects using finer yarn, which makes it more tricky to see what I am doing. I look forward to seeing your video on the eye of the partridge two color heel flap.
You are amazing. It is the weaving in that makes the magic! I have slipped the stitch in the past and then carried the yarn up but that is not as clean as the weaving in. So worth the clean edge! Thank you for sharing your expertise.

Hi Suzanne -I've found you late in life but then better late than never! Thank you for the amazingly in-depth techniques you share with us. You are a knitting stitch scientist!! :)
This is so very helpful. I read about this technique many years ago (either from EZ or from Meg Swanson) and used it (quite sloppily) when I remembered, but THIS just clicked. Your clear and "scientific" approach reminds me to LOOK at my knitting and really know what the yarn is doing... what does a slip stitch actually do? what will these yarn ends do? You are very empowering! Thank you over and over!
Oh brilliant! That's two tutorials of yours in two days that have helped with the latest project I just started! Thanks very much for sharing - excellent clear videos.
This is amazing, Suzanne. I wish I had taken the time to watch this yesterday. Now I have to rip back 2” on my husband’s sweater to get c,over to perfection!
Oh no, at least it's only 2 inches of tinking and not more! I'm sure your husband will love and appreciate all of your hard work. Thanks so much for watching!
Que buen tips! maravillosoas sus prendas..hasta ahora la veo...me quedo admirada por tanta sabiduria.Hracias por cpartir ..su pasion! Salydos desde Colombia!!!
I aspire for my finished work to be close to perfect. I am a new knitter and the seams are obvious, but I will try this seaming technique makes more sense, I was a bit all over the place.

I'm taking note of the jogless technique (thank you)... but also thinking this is one of many examples showing how awesomely even your tension / gauge is ... have you ever done a series of simple, sensible things to do to help even our gauge? Mine is consistent but not even. I mean throughout a piece of work, whether in round or flat, one half of the "v" that makes up a knit stitch always looks crowded compared to the other half. Blocking helps enormously, but I do wonder what else I could do to try to re-train my hands. :-)
Great technique!! Thank you for the video. Just one question, so if the stranded work has multiple color changes, the “first stitch“ keeps sliding to the left?
Wow, you are by far my new favourite knitter! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and wisdom, I can't wait to watch every video and try your tutorial. Is that SweetGeorgia yarn in this sample?
The sample is Malabrigo Rios, Thank you! Be sure to subscribe to my channel if you haven't already and share my videos with your social media groups. Thank you and happy knitting.
Ms. Bryan, this video is a thing of beauty. Has anyone ever told you that you are a graceful knitter? Watching this is like watching ballet; a thing of beauty, but with a practical application.🙂 Btw, does this technique fix the jog in self-striping yarn? Thank you.
Thank you! I hope you have chosen to subscribe to my channel and that you will share my videos on your social media groups such as FB, Ravelry, Pinterest, Reddit, etc. Happy knitting, Suzanne.
Thank you, great technique clearly explained but am I right in thinking that the stitch counter is moving back by 1 stitch on each round? Won’t that affect shaping decreases etc? Thanks
Hello blackpprs. I am not sure what you mean by double side ribbing. Do you mean ribbing in double knitting? Give me a little more information and I will try to do my best. Thanks for watching my videos. Suzanne
Suzanne Bryan hi suzanne, yes it is ribbing on 2 sides with color a in front and color b on the back. where as tubular is knit on both side, double side ribbing has purl and knit on each side.

Thank you. Yes, that is how I do my ends. I have a playlist with videos on weaving in ends for Stockinette, ribbing and garter stitch - ruclips.net/p/PLLKJ9GuhEEwkCXGeLBnQeat61bjB46zB2
Please, a question: What if one would like to "weave in ends as you go"? I'm thinking that the ends should be kept free to perform this technique well? Or, maybe could one physically tighten, & straighten by pulling the work bias-wise, while knitting, & then weave as you go? Maybe that would be a lesser-quality choice? Much appreciated. Thank you. :)
This would not work if you weave in the ends as you go. Yes they need to be kept free. Do a couple of test swatches, one with the ends woven in as you go and the other with them left free, and see which you prefer better. Happy Knitting.
Hi Suzzane, I'm doing 2 colour stranded knitting with magic loop method. The pattern is checkerboard (k2 colour A, k2 colour B for 2 rounds then switch colour). The problem is when I finish 1 round and need to start another round, the jog forms and distort the checkerboard pattern. Have you got a suggestion to fix this? Thank you
It is just part of stranded knitting. You can try employing the jogless method, but it is kind of annoying to do it and move the beginning of round. I usually place that portion to side of the project (garment or sock, etc).
Do you use this technique when you use a contrast color for the toes of socks? Also, when you change colors for a contrast heel on a sock where is your preferred place to change colors?
Yes, and I make the change at one side. If you make it on the bottom of the foot, weaving in the ends will be palpable when a person walks. So making it at the side is less annoying. For heels, depends on if you are making a short row heel or a heel flap, heel turn, gusset type of heel. But I guess it really doesn't matter. I change at the beginning and ending of the heel. For those, I make no attempt to cover up a jog. It really isn't noticeable. By the way. I have Eye of Partridge in one color and two colors on my video to do list. Those will be fun.
Knitting with Suzanne Bryan I've recently been liking to do the eye of the partridge heel on socks. The two color one sounds really fun. I also am learning to do the Fish Lips Kiss Heel, but the two color eye of partridge seems like it would be fun to make.
I really like the eye of the partridge heel and it has become my favorite heel flap method. I haven't seen a two color eye of the partridge heel flap and I think it sounds really nice and, perhaps, fun to do.
I love the way you encourage the viewer to use their eyes.
I have knitted for 60 years and I still learn new things from you.
Wonderful! Hugs and Happy Knitting.

clear video and explanation!! can you make a video for double side ribbing please?
Hello blackpprs. I am not sure what you mean by double side ribbing. Do you mean ribbing in double knitting? Give me a little more information and I will try to do my best. Thanks for watching my videos.

Suzanne Bryan hi suzanne, yes it is ribbing on 2 sides with color a in front and color b on the back. where as tubular is knit on both side, double side ribbing has purl and knit on each side.

Suzanne Bryan yay! thankyou!
Tremendously helpful. Thank you.
Thank you Jan D! Happy knitting. Happy New Year!
Thank you Suzanne. Does this work for two rows of stripes?
I’m about to try this method - I have a two row stripe followed by 2 inches of main colour - do you ever move the marker back to the original stitch position before doing the next 2 row stripe? Thanks
Yes, when the stripes are really wide you can move the marker back. Be sure to try this on a swatch to confirm. 😊
Does this method also work with 2 & 3 round stripes? Thanks. It’s ok Suzanne, I’ve found your part2 video thanks!
Great! Thank you!
Knitting with Suzanne Bryan Used your method on a hat thanks. Can I use it in stranded work too?
Yes, there are times when it will work, but there are times when it won't.
This is a wonderful tutorial Suzanne, thank you so much - am sorted now, happy days, cheers :-)
Great! Happy knitting.
Is there a video on how to do this for fair Isle patterns? I would appreciate that.
