@Diane Humphrey she acutally went back to her mor naturally darker blonde hair color towards her last years because the peroxide and Ivory Snow soap flakes were hurting her scalp, needing her roots to be touched up with a cotton swab ever week . She also really started depising to be referred to as a dumb blonde bombshell....I don't think she was wearing wigs. Her old hairdresser reported that she had the most beautifuk hair she had ever seen. I believe she was a great actress and a natural comedienne. It's ashame she left us way too soon. Although, you know what they say, "Die young and leave a good looking corpse". Can you imagine if she, Marilyn, James Dean and all others lived to be elderly? Would we have held them in such high esteem?

I enjoy movie-star biographies and know of several about Harlow. "Harlow' by Irving Schulman (1963 or so) should be avoided because it has been discredited for false information. I recommend "Platinum Girl" (1990's) by Eve Golden who also wrote about Theda Bara. I've read that Jean's death was listed as cerebral edema caused by renal failure which may have been set in motion by scarlet fever when Jean was 15. I've also read that her hair was bleached with peroxide, soap flakes and ammonia and that there may have been some leaching into her system which contributed to her death. (We'll probably never know now.) Jean's first big movie, 'Hell's Angels" has held up remarkably over the years. Even the special effects still look good. Jean was an inexperienced actress at the time but she had presence or star quality---and real eyebrows! One or two scenes were done with early color film. Jean Harlow was a voracious reader with a photographic memory and worked with screenwriter Carey Wilson on a novel called "Today is Tonight" which was published long after Jean's death. I have a copy but haven't read it yet!

I'm not sure, but could you do Ingrid Bergman ❤ or Greta Garbo 😍 I don't honestly know if Ingrid wore much make up but I have another suggestion such as Helen Kane or Clara Bow

My Mom , who was much younger than Jean Harlow, had an old box like the one you have of the vintage mascara- I still remember being fascinated by the little brush and what was in that box as a small girl...don’t think she used it though in the late 1950’s....she wore very little eye makeup! Interesting, and sad that Jean Harlow died so tragically young.

I have been buying kirks castile soap for years for my mom. I never cared for it myself. Our locals stores sell it. It makes my mom's hair grow too.
How do you like it Laura?
