Kicking your legs you don't get too far, tails are required for flipping, diving. Floating along on the, what's that word again? Sea. Down where they drift, down where they glide, down where they stay all day in the tide. Swimming free, wish I could be, part of that world'

No. Not really. We polluted the sea with oil and toxic chemicals. It is also fill with micro plastic now. If mermaids exist they would want to exterminate us.
I've got a little running gag with my sister; When she asks me "Where I want to go", I begin to answer with "I wanna be where the people are. I wanna see, wanna see them dancing! Walking around on those... What do you call them? Of, feet!". It's just too damn funny because the first time I did that it took her a long while to get what I was doing. Love this song ♥
+Luna Tuna my point is it's an amazing Disney movie and lots of people would love to be Ariel whilst she'd love to be us, so I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't spread hate✋🏼Just stop being so negative okay?!
I have a headcanon that if Ariel was able to talk on land, she would have been really unaware of social norms and been really blunt with Eric blurting out that she liked him from the very beginning.
Disney gets blessed with some of the best melodies ever, this, return to pride rock, you got a friend in me, and basically everything in Pocahontas lol infectious ❤
Jodie's voice is beautiful, sure halle's is as well, but this version is unbeatable. Jodie manage to gave joy and naturality on her performance, halle sounds more theatrical like if we were in a Broadway presentation
True. For me, Jodi sounds more natural like she's talking melodically, whereas Halle somehow sounds forced like she's trying too hard in certain parts of the new version, especially the beginning of the second verse.
Jodie has real but effortless purity and power to her voice. She also sounds like she's having a conversation with herself rather than trying to win American Idol. Haile is like a popstar trying to be a diva, which isn't right for this song. This is also when Disney spent money or orchestration and music production.

I know your comment is 3 years old, but I just had to say that I was born with a heart defect, had open heart surgery just shy of my 5th birthday, lived a reasonably normal life until November '12. I watched the presidential election results on a small TV in the ER waiting room because my husband rushed me in after I started coughing up literal cups full of bright red blood. Two weeks in the hospital and I'm finally diagnosed with stage 4 right side heart failure and a restrictive lung disease (pulmonary arterial hypertension) caused by my heart issues. I've been on oxygen ever since and have very little energy. I just turned 33 last week and I feel like I'm 93 instead. I can't have children because there's a 60% chance myself and the baby would die if I tried to carry to term. One of the meds I'm on for my lung disease requires me to pee in a cup every month at the doctor's office to ensure I'm not pregnant because the meds cause such terrible birth defects, before the specialty pharmacy will even mail them to me. All that to say that you're not alone. I understand exactly where you're coming from. If you ever wanna chat, just shoot me a message.

Despite the numerous other gorgeous Disney songs, especially from the renaissance period, for some reason this songs just works so well. Maybe cause it was a symbol of Disney rising from its grave. Maybe cause it's longer than others. But for whatever reason, there is something very emotional about this song, that you just can't find in Disney today.

this song makes me cry because when I was 7, i would sing and my 1 year old sister would hum along, and she sadly didn't make it to being 2 years old :(
This song still touches me as it did when I was a little girl. I relate to the sentiment Ariel has in this song so much as an adult. I'm in tears. This song has so much depth to it.
Maybe he's right Maybe there is something that matter with me I just don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things Could be bad Look at this stuff, isn't it neat? Wouldn't you think my collection's complete? Wouldn't you think I'm the girl The girl who has everything? Look at this trove, treasures untold How many wonders can one cavern hold? Looking around here you'd think Sure, she's got everything I've got gadgets and gizmo's a-plenty I've got whozits and whatzits galore You want thingamabobs? I got 20 But who cares? No big deal, I want more I wanna be where the people are I wanna see, wanna see 'em dancing Walking around on those What do you call 'em? Truly love this song, I've never watched the little mermaid (from what I can remember) but one of the guests in a performance I was in sang it and I've loved it ever since, the song holds a lot of great memories for me!
This song lowkey has a hidden in my opinion. I think it means that the girl who is the most popular or whose parents have the most money still have problems of their own and sometimes just want to be normal and not have so many standards because of their popularity and wealth. This also could be for celebrities who just want to be a "normal" person and go a day without paparazzi following them or being bombarded by people everywhere they go when they just want to hang out with their family and friends with out someone interrupting them.
That's what's great about music, you can interpret it however you want. Personally, I wouldn't have looked at the song the way you did, but your point is pretty valid.
I've been stuck in a house my whole life, I've never been allowed to leave or talk to anyone outside.. when I hear this song I can some what relate to it.. sure I'm not underwater, but everyday I see people everywhere living and I'm stuck here
Aww, that's sad to hear. This might cheer you up. If you like, check out a fabulous music video of this song from a gal that lives in the Netherlands, Jaidy Bos. Sang in English. ruclips.net/video/200KNXxiMXU/видео.html
Its shore above not world but same thing I guess lol. Great song. I loved this movie growing up. This had to have taken you a while to write up lol. Great job.
Don't get me wrong, I like Disney's movies now, but I think they need to go back and watch their old movies again. They focus too much on kids and if they'll like it or not..just saying.
+Eternaldarkness3166 that is true in some situations to be honest. But some show lessons, mainly in this lesson, its your parents know what's right and wrong for you/ always listen to your parents because they've experienced the pain and traumatic trauma , which they don't want there kids going through. Which is to why there's limits, lines, borders, rules, etc. Everything and Every Rule , comes from a person's once experience.
There are so many negative comments about our beautiful world... A world where we have so many beautiful things. Trees, flowers, the mesmerizing colors of the sky, the sound of lovely music, incredible smells, delicious food, and people to love, kiss, and hug. I love our world, and I refuse to focus on the negative aspects of it.
I can relate to this song in a profound way. I've always been extremely shy and scared of people from an early age. As a result of that I've lived a very sheltered and boring life and missed out on all the normal experiences of teenage and young adult years. I wish I could have friends and go out with them, go to parties, have fun, have crazy memorable experiences, travel the world, meet and interact with new people, etc. But I can't because of my irrational fears.
Happy for you 😁... because I'm currently in that situation you were in...glad to see I wasn't alone after all😂✋🏼 Damn, I'd like to go abroad someday too😫
I most definitely misinterpreted the lyrics in one of the verses. I never knew the words "What's a fire, and why does it - what's the word - burn?" were sung. I always thought of the lyrics as saying "What's a tiger, and why does it - what's the word" - grrr?" I most definitely didn't hear the song clearly, but then again, who would when you're chasing around a very loud, noise-making ten-month-old, and I'm referring to when I babysit my nephew. I play all three CD volumes of Disney's Greatest for him.
Rebeca Rosas Lol! I am glad that I am not the only one who thought so, because it appears that 17 people thought the same, as well. Now, I don't feel so alone! Rofl!

this song makes me cry because when I was 7, i would sing and my 1 year old sister would hum along, and she sadly didn't make it to being 2 years old :(
Aw that's so sad I'm sorry to hear that.😢😭
IM CRYING NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Snow Roark I love POKEMON!
This song still touches me as it did when I was a little girl. I relate to the sentiment Ariel has in this song so much as an adult. I'm in tears. This song has so much depth to it.
Tears 😭 miss my childhood
Absolutely one of my favorite Disney songs!
Perfect song. I can feel, the sea and underwater world when she sing with that music.
Maybe he's right
Maybe there is something that matter with me
I just don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things
Could be bad
Look at this stuff, isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has everything?
Look at this trove, treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Looking around here you'd think
Sure, she's got everything
I've got gadgets and gizmo's a-plenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
You want thingamabobs? I got 20
But who cares? No big deal, I want more
I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see 'em dancing
Walking around on those
What do you call 'em? Oh, feet
Flipping your fins you don't get too far
Legs are required for jumping, dancing
Strolling along down a
What's that word again? Street
Up where they walk
Up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wandering free
Wish I could be
Part of that world
What would I give
If I could live out of these waters?
What would I pay
To spend a day warm on the sand?
Bet'cha on land
They understand
That they don't reprimand their daughters
Bright young women
Sick of swimming
Ready to stand
And ready to know what the people know
Ask 'em my questions and get some answers
What's a fire and why does it
What's the word? Burn
When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love
Love to explore that shore up above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of that world
Thx for the complete lyrics
Thank you for the lyrics! & to repay, check out this music video by a gal from the Netherlands, Jaidy Bos. It's in English. She made a music video for this very song. I'm sure you'll like it.

I wanna live where the 80s was....
Jake Tucker same!!
You bet, everything was sooo much happier.
Live between war and conflicts?
“bet’cha on lone they understand that they don’t reprimand their daughters” best part
Sorry to rant lol
That's actually a very good point. Thank you for bringing up something I hadn't thought about before!
Maisie Wirth no problem! And thank you for reading my rant!
You want to be a celebrity without all the Paparazzi and stuff? Become a youtuber :)
That's what's great about music, you can interpret it however you want.
Personally, I wouldn't have looked at the song the way you did, but your point is pretty valid.
This was played at my friends funeral, such a special song 🌷
I've been stuck in a house my whole life, I've never been allowed to leave or talk to anyone outside.. when I hear this song I can some what relate to it.. sure I'm not underwater, but everyday I see people everywhere living and I'm stuck here
Aww, that's sad to hear. This might cheer you up. If you like, check out a fabulous music video of this song from a gal that lives in the Netherlands, Jaidy Bos. Sang in English.

as strange as this may appear i grew up in captivity and this song really spoke to my lil heart and still inspires me to keep going to this day 💜
I'm turning 20 this year and The Little Mermaid is still my comfort watch . No one can tell me otherwise
This song randomly popped in my head and I don’t know why this brings back childhood memories being 4 years old and watching all these movies
I am going to be 18 in a few months and I still love this song and this movie! I am not ashamed to love Disney!!!
Its shore above not world but same thing I guess lol. Great song. I loved this movie growing up. This had to have taken you a while to write up lol. Great job.
Trust me you don't want to be part of this"world"

Love this song so much! I've listened to this over and over for about two hours now! :D
Don't get me wrong, I like Disney's movies now, but I think they need to go back and watch their old movies again. They focus too much on kids and if they'll like it or not..just saying.
Samee, I agree.
+Eternaldarkness3166 The nerve of this family company focusing on kids!
I agree. Tangled was really good and one of my favorite newer ones though!!!

Yeah and Frozen is pretty good too.
I wonder how Frozen 2 will be like I bet Elsa will be the main protagonist in Frozen 2.
I love this song, brings back so many memories!
Well, they are right about the world being terrible, but yes, we can't forget those positive aspects of this world.
I know it's 4years later,😂but how's it going now?
@@userrexha2525 A lot better, thankfully. I've returned to college, made lots of friends and even spent 1 year abroad.
Thanks for asking.
Happy for you 😁... because I'm currently in that situation you were in...glad to see I wasn't alone after all😂✋🏼

@@guerreiro943 thank you fellow stranger 😁... I hope so
I most definitely misinterpreted the lyrics in one of the verses.
OMG! I thought it was tiger too!
Rebeca Rosas Lol! I am glad that I am not the only one who thought so, because it appears that 17 people thought the same, as well. Now, I don't feel so alone! Rofl!
Hahahaha 😊😊
Rebeca Rosas Yep. :)
I'm 19 still watching little mermaid

Probably the best song ever!
Don't know if anyone has corrected this yet, but at one point they say "proper women" when it should say "bright young women".
i was looking to see if someone else commented this! i guess nobody realized it was wrong.
Hey guys. Listen to the song. The lyrics are "bright young women". :)
AHAHAHA.. no. It sucks up here. I wanna go back into the sea..

"Whozits, whazits galore, thingmabobs..." Are those actual words? :S
Yeah. Lmao
+Ariel Grushka Yes those are the real words..LOL
NO she just doesn't know what they Are i think. But I am not sure
Yes but those ARE the words she uses in the song.
those words are usually just use use in place of actual words when you don't know what the object essential they are like variables but with words.
Nobody is ever gonna be able to do it like Jodi Benson!!!
