I know your comment is 3 years old, but I just had to say that I was born with a heart defect, had open heart surgery just shy of my 5th birthday, lived a reasonably normal life until November '12. I watched the presidential election results on a small TV in the ER waiting room because my husband rushed me in after I started coughing up literal cups full of bright red blood. Two weeks in the hospital and I'm finally diagnosed with stage 4 right side heart failure and a restrictive lung disease (pulmonary arterial hypertension) caused by my heart issues. I've been on oxygen ever since and have very little energy. I just turned 33 last week and I feel like I'm 93 instead. I can't have children because there's a 60% chance myself and the baby would die if I tried to carry to term. One of the meds I'm on for my lung disease requires me to pee in a cup every month at the doctor's office to ensure I'm not pregnant because the meds cause such terrible birth defects, before the specialty pharmacy will even mail them to me. All that to say that you're not alone. I understand exactly where you're coming from. If you ever wanna chat, just shoot me a message.

Despite the numerous other gorgeous Disney songs, especially from the renaissance period, for some reason this songs just works so well. Maybe cause it was a symbol of Disney rising from its grave. Maybe cause it's longer than others. But for whatever reason, there is something very emotional about this song, that you just can't find in Disney today.
In my opinion, Tangled is just as much a classic as those three that you just mentioned. :) Frozen as well too, but mainly Tangled. I LOVE that movie! :)

I think it means that the girl who is the most popular or whose parents have the most money still have problems of their own and sometimes just want to be normal and not have so many standards because of their popularity and wealth. This also could be for celebrities who just want to be a "normal" person and go a day without paparazzi following them or being bombarded by people everywhere they go when they just want to hang out with their family and friends with out someone interrupting them.

I most definitely misinterpreted the lyrics in one of the verses. I never knew the words "What's a fire, and why does it - what's the word - burn?" were sung. I always thought of the lyrics as saying "What's a tiger, and why does it - what's the word" - grrr?" I most definitely didn't hear the song clearly, but then again, who would when you're chasing around a very loud, noise-making ten-month-old, and I'm referring to when I babysit my nephew. I can relate to this song in a profound way. I've always been extremely shy and scared of people from an early age. As a result of that I've lived a very sheltered and boring life and missed out on all the normal experiences of teenage and young adult years. This is something that Halle's version doesn't have: true emotion. In this version you can actually feel Ariel's struggle and the anguish she feels for not being able to be part of the outside world. But Halle only half-shouts, half-sings throughout the scene without showing any real emotion or convincing facial expression.
Don't get me wrong, I like Disney's movies now, but I think they need to go back and watch their old movies again. They focus too much on kids and if they'll like it or not..just saying.

Despite the numerous other gorgeous Disney songs, especially from the renaissance period, for some reason this songs just works so well. Maybe cause it was a symbol of Disney rising from its grave. Maybe cause it's longer than others. But for whatever reason, there is something very emotional about this song, that you just can't find in Disney today.

This song lowkey has a hidden in my opinion. I think it means that the girl who is the most popular or whose parents have the most money still have problems of their own and sometimes just want to be normal and not have so many standards because of their popularity and wealth. This also could be for celebrities who just want to be a "normal" person and go a day without paparazzi following them or being bombarded by people everywhere they go when they just want to hang out with their family and friends with out someone interrupting them.

I most definitely misinterpreted the lyrics in one of the verses. I never knew the words "What's a fire, and why does it - what's the word - burn?" were sung. I always thought of the lyrics as saying "What's a tiger, and why does it - what's the word" - grrr?" I most definitely didn't hear the song clearly, but then again, who would when you're chasing around a very loud, noise-making ten-month-old, and I'm referring to when I babysit my nephew. I play all three CD volumes of Disney's Greatest for him.

I can relate to this song in a profound way. I've always been extremely shy and scared of people from an early age. As a result of that I've lived a very sheltered and boring life and missed out on all the normal experiences of teenage and young adult years. I wish I could have friends and go out with them, go to parties, have fun, have crazy memorable experiences, travel the world, meet and interact with new people, etc. But I can't because of my irrational fears.

This is something that Halle's version doesn't have: true emotion.
In this version you can actually feel Ariel's struggle and the anguish she feels for not being able to be part of the outside world. But Halle only half-shouts, half-sings throughout the scene without showing any real emotion or convincing facial expression.
Jodi Benson has a beautiful singing voice. I saw her in concert here in Disney.

But some show lessons, mainly in this lesson, its your parents know what's right and wrong for you/ always listen to your parents because they've experienced the pain and traumatic trauma , which they don't want there kids going through. Which is to why there's limits, lines, borders, rules, etc. Everything and Every Rule , comes from a person's once experience.

Ariel is the problem child of the family and is always being yelled at by her dad. She has like a dozen sisters but does not appear to be close to any of them. She also does not have any mermaid friends and seems to prefer the company of animals.
My theory is that she wants to go to the surface world because she feels disconnected with the world of the sea.
