After marking the first mark I always turn the square around 180° to just check it the other way around incase I have marked the square wrong. It has happened on the very rare occasion, lol

Good question Bro. Divide the circumference, by 8. You will get the arc length of 45 degree.

Take a piece of receipt paper...wrap it around.....take it off....fold it it half...put it back on.
