I also thought it shows some intelligence on his part. If you aren't 100% sure how someone feels about Caesar, then you would want to use the NCR/English/layman's pronunciation. This way you don't provoke an undesirable reaction. I felt like if he was dealing with one of caesar's scouts (before killing him), Joshua would use the Legion/Latin pronunciation.
Is that why it says ... at the end of "you take a sip from your trusty vault 13 canteen..." the ... is them being like ewww why would you do that but they're in so much shock from you doing it they just sit their like 🫥 saying nothing
I'm sure someones mentioned by now, but .223 and 5.56 are effectively the same, so if That Gun fires 5.56, it could also fire .223 (the reverse would not be true, if its built for .223, firing 5.56 would cause a catastrophic failure)
It probably wouldn't cause a catastrophic failure, but it would result in significantly increased wear and tear. Like, it's still not a good idea, but the gun is unlikely to explode in your hand. It's also possible that the original weapon was rated for 5.56, but sold as a varmint rifle. (The .223 pistol is explicitly described as being a cut down rifle in the original item description.) This also happens with some 7.62 rifles that are actually designed for .308. (Note that in that case, the civilian round is the more powerful cartridge.)

The fact that people theorized that the Joshua Graham we meet isn't the original is something else. Lanius' multiple origins confusing some people, I can wrap my head around where a theory can arise, but cooome ooon.
I agree it's such a stretch like no it's Joshua Graham if he was a different man it'd kill everything the dlc is trying to do and people fall out of airplane and survive so why the hell can't he fall down the grand canyon and live especially if he hit a couple cliff edges on the way down it'd slow his fall it's rare people survive those things but it happens
One small thing regarding the fallout 2 highwayman trunk - the actual bug in fallout 2 was that the non-trunk part of the car wouldn't be rendered, so all you would appear to have was the back quarter panels and trunk.
I think there are 2 possibilities on why the courier doesn’t recall the divide. The first is that maybe the courier is in denial, imagine being a good karma courier and being told that you caused the destruction of an entire city, in case of evil karma courier probably is trying to avoid responsibility for so much destruction, the reason why the dialogue doesn’t clarify that the courier is lying could be because the courier isn’t lying to ulysses, is lying to himself. The second I think is the most likely, and is that the courier has visited many towns and settlements and doesn’t remember them all, in their dialogue with the lonesome drifter there is the implication that a male courier with lady killer perk might have impregnated a woman in Montana, that place is very far away from new vegas, and in fact other dialogue (I don’t remember the npc name, but it was one you recruited for a show in the tops casino) the courier mentions that they saw some shows in new Reno. What does this mean? That the courier has traveled across a good chunk of the western portion of the United States, so isn’t difficult to guess that the courier simply doesn’t remember most places they visited unless they stayed for a time, make sense that the courier remembers new reno because most people would stay for a time to enjoy the casinos and shows, but we don’t really have proof that the divide had entertainment shows or other attractions that made the courier stay for a time, as far as the courier was concerned the divide was just another settlement where he deliver mail. In this instance make sense that the courier doesn’t remember the divide, and considering that the divide was destroyed years ago probably the courier never made the connection between the mail they carried to the divide and it’s destruction.
the idea that the outer worlds is what the devs at obsidian thought a mr. house win would end up like is a interesting way to look at it and if its true following that logic then the people who made the outer worlds and now work at obsidian have none of the writting abilities that made new vegas great because mr. house was a well written person who many disagree with but he has clear motives and goals that arent just be evil as the corporations in the outer worlds are

By saying they didn’t have .223 they mean they didn’t have a use for another ammo type that is virtually the same. Edit: for more context, the bullet themselves are the same size, but a 5.56 casing is shaped differently to allow a small but significant amount of extra powder to be added, meaning that a 5.56 will ignite at a higher pressure. It is 100% safe to fire .223 in a 5.56 gun, but there are debates and some people warn that firing 5.56 in a .223 gun will cause damage and undue stress to the firearm. Finally, in regard to not adding .223 for a lack of use, the same thing happened in NV with the .30-30. .30-30 is a popular lever gun cartridge but in the context of new vegas it would not have had a use besides having a weird niche and confusing players with an extra 2 guns and a round.

Mr. Bishop could've had another daughter, but I thought the chosen one having a child with Mr. Bishops wife, whom went on to take control of New Reno, was the coolest possible ending.
Also, why did whoever drove the Highwayman go up the road from Searchlight? I know that it's been there for awhile, and the events of that region took place after. But, in what situation would it make sense to drive from the Mojave Outpost to Searchlight, then from Searchlight north to Novac? I'll tell you what situation. A situation in which the most powerful crime boss in the west is hunting you down and you have to take the back roads.
i bought fallout new vegas on the pc (played it briefly before) on steam, do i need any patches? do i need mods? what do i do to play it or can i just go straight to the game?
While you don't need mods to enjoy the game as it is pretty fun on its own. There are plenty of mods that can enhance the game and make a lot more fun such as adding new weapons, armors, companions, quest, and even world spaces into the game. I would recommend checking out the Fallout mod subreddit for recommendations. There's also plenty of RUclipsrs that cover different mods for the game.

I'm pretty sure the Vault 13 Canteen has a water chip in it, so every 5 minutes you pee into it, and it purifies the canteen into water.

Caesar (Kai-sar) and Caesar (See-zer) are the same word, one is just the Latin pronunciation, Kai-sar, while the other is just common English, See-zer
