Totally understand what Tim means tho. There are cool things in guitar music, but they are lacking hooks and construction. Only pretty much guitarists listen to that stuff. For example verses are usually pretty plain and sound like improvisation. I'm kind of stereotyping a genre here but I hope some of you get what I mean. Songs should play in your head after you hear them, and you shouldn't have to get bored in the middle on a song. Often times guitar music also lack dynamics.
I discovered on instagram after I saw a pic of Scott’s guitar. I was IN LOVE by it and decided to search about the band, and when I heard G.O.A.T, I wanted to learn that riff to “measure” my abilities... god I love them

Indeed. Social media, Twitch and, ironically, the pandemic have really helped Herman's reputation in the guitar community. Before all that, he was the butt of jokes for being in Dragonforce (the band that supposedly "can't play live"). Most people thought that he was just another shred guitarist who's full of himself (I admit that I was one of those folks). Now, things are different, and Herman has become very popular, even amongst those who still don't like Dragonforce. In fact, social media and streaming has done wonders for the reputation of various musicians, athletes, actors and wrestlers (yes, lol).

At the beginning polyphia was more of a progressive metal band. Their style changed considerably over the albums. Search for them on Bandcamp and you'll see what they did before.

Back in the day it was all word of mouth and myth like. When now theres video proof and connections to everyone and everything.

Well he’s actually pretty humble. He shares and gives out everything. He teaches his music he give out backing tracks live streams and shares how he makes his music. That’s how music should be and how professionals should act. The I’m the best with the best band was an act which fit the album
I'm actually kinda sad he's going to stop doing it. Added a real punch to his persona, and as long as the people who aren't dumb get the joke, seeing the dimwits getting pissed at him is fun.

Does anybody understand who/what exactly Tim is hating on when he talks about "RUclips guitar music"? To me this is kinda hilarious because RUclips is the only reason I know about Polyphia. Anyway when he says he's talking about stuff that is "not actual songs"... it kind of sounds like he is talking about Ichika's short pieces. But I can't believe he'd diss Ichika, so I don't really know what he's talking about.
I don't think he's talking about Ichika because all of Ichika's little tidbits could easily be turned into songs. Same with Mateus Asato (he's collab'd with both Mateus and Ichika on a Polyphia album).

This is legendary! I had the honor of meeting Herman Li during the Hollywood release party for a game (metal gear rising) soundtrack we both were part of. We (maniac agenda) had done some cool mixes that made the game)...Him and Nita let me try their Ibanez guitars and I was pretty star struck. Long story short...Herman was cool as hell and didn't act like a "rock star". Shout out to Tim Henson too...I'm still blasting New Levels New Devils on the reg. Peace

Animals As Leaders & Polyphia...
Are my favorite two when it comes to just pure sound for many functions forming one band. I usually go back and forth on who I like better really depends on who I'm listening to that current time. But my honest opinion would be animals as leaders is like Evander Holyfield and polyphia is like Mike Tyson.
If you weren't around in the mid-to-late 90s most wouldn't know who Evander Holyfield is but know the name Mike Tyson very well however when they fought each other 2 * it was Evander who came out on top
humility vs Ego
Sometimes it's good to have a balance of both but one thing that I've noticed is that Tim is only in his mid-20s and if he already realizes he needs to get conduct himself in different manner and how he wants be portrayed, that right there speaks volumes of wisdom. He is just a beginner on a long road called the process it's molding him and polishing him up refining him into to his identity

Damn, I know that feeling of adulthood coming out of nowhere and reality checking you. When I turned 18 I moved to another city to enter university and study pure mathematics. I graduated, got a master degree and am currently a PhD student, at the age of 27. I always had a scholarship deal, paid my bills, lived in an apartment I share with friends. Very little changed since then, the biggest changes were how much I got from scholarship, where I lived and who I lived with, but the daily grind and habits are still the same. But now I got fed up and am leaving university, I'm giving up on my course. I studied my whole life for this, but this year I learned new skills and am suddenly for the first time having to seek jobs, making connections with other people and worrying about the future. It's really scary. I'm not as lucky and as successful as he is, but I know how Peter Pan syndrome feels, and how reality hits hard when it finally arrives.
