It's crazy how Tim can play any guitar and you know immediately it's him playing, such a distinct style with, particular with the really super smooth and accurate palm muting. That really proves the life of the tone is in the hands, I bet he could make even my shitty Squier sound like a million bucks. So much respect for both of these guys, so much skill. Awesome bringing attention to such a dope cause. You are really killing the game Herman, I'm so glad you're doing such good and important things , and of course the insane skill on the guitar.
Tim is amazing. He's also young. He's still mastering his own sound right now and killing it. Give it 5/10 years and he'll be even better than he is now. With even more new sounds. Just how these things work.

@@cechichan with shredding you absolutely have to have good muting technique, without it there is so much string noise. Learning to play cleanly with proper muting actually makes your cleans sound way better because that muting muscle memory kicks in even without the distortion
There's this thing about a little bit too much or too little. Improvement is great but it can stir you in a whole nother dimension if your not careful like alot of artist ended up with but with Tim he knows where he's going and i applaud that. Like Davie504, if you seen his old videos he's just god dayum but now he's more mainstream so yeah there's that. Great but no clear direction but yeah Davie is a youtuber so it's different unlike Tim and a whole lot more and did the example for context.
Tim is pretty much walking his own road and there's nobody there. You can't copy anyone or make reference to so it's really fresh in the ears. Always loved listening to his after listening to everything else, like water to wash it all down.
I was a teenager during the Shrapnel days so I'm a huge Jason Becker fan. When he joined DLR I was so stoked to be able to see him live finally. I remeebr being confused. "Jason doesn't look anything like I thought". It took a few sings before I accepted it definitely didn't sound like him so it couldn't be him. Was some time later that I heard the news about his ALS diagnosis and it hit me pretty hard. But he's still putting out great music 30 some years later.

I come from a family of talented musicians and never had confidence to learn to play feeling totally outgunned by them all. I have just started my guitar journey at 40 years old massively inspired by guys like Tim and Herman.

Horrible disease, We have a benefit tournament in his memory every year and so far we've been able to accumulate and donate over $80,000 to the Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS in his name. The same thing has been said about Metallica, ACDC (I know, obvious examples) and plenty of great bands and musicians. And its true. A lot of music sounds similar. Theres only 12 notes...

@@Madstring lol he doesn't suck. That's a bit harsh. But it does bug me when he steps on other peoples solos. Jamming is give and take between guitarists. You gotta know when to jump in and when to jump out.
Tim was amazing during that improv. He grooves like hell. Playing like he does is 1000x more enjoyable than just pure speed shred.
