I'm on Edelgard's side, but that would honestly be stupid to call Rhea evil just because she can turn into a dragon, let alone the dragon that from what they heard was a GOOD dragon that helps the goddess. (And yes, it was also stupid when the soldiers turned against Rhea after learning this)
I'm currently playing the game. When I learned that Edelgard was the Flame Emperor, I was shocked. By the way, I don't mind spoilers so much, so I can look at videos like these. However, looking at this, I'm going to side with Edelgard. Being Byleth's best friend, I won't abandon her. And the rest of the Black Eagles have proven they're loyal to their friends and professor and not the Church, so I won't lose anyone besides Flayn.

She doesn't realize that system that she created with the best attentions after the war became corrupt. There were countless experiments over the years that tried to empower crests even more which cost innocent people there lives or there innocence. Like El, Hapi and the girl that looks like Illya from Fate. If Rhea learn how to let go then maybe things could have been different.

I think it was intentionally funny considering how proud Edelgard was of it. I felt it was there to add an unintentionally goofy side to Edelgard's character. Edit: There is a really good fan comic of her coming up with her Flame Emperor "Flame-sona".

Did anyone else feel like “holy SHIT” when Rhea got REALLY angry and threatening upon siding with Edelgard? Though I suppose it shouldn’t have come as a surprise… We already saw how ferocious she can be in the opening cutscene.
I was immediately suspicious of her when I first saw her in the cutscene showing Garreg Mach and said “why does she look like that crazy lady in the first cut- OHHHHHH” needless to say I very much avoided speaking to her possible.

I think the reason that Edelgard took this path, is because that Rhea has abused her position of Arch Bishop of Fodlin, why, cause she made it her mission to try to resurrect her mother, Sothis, by using her lab rats to pull it off, even though, Sothis herself made it crystal clear to her and her children, that she did not wish to be resurrected, yet instead, Rhea chose to go against her wishes all because couldn't live without her, which to me is such a childish behavior.
Watching this again after a couple years, I still can't believe people support Rhea xD El does some ... iffy ... things. But damn, Rhea is a nightmare.
I won't deny it, i feel a little relieved that my first route was BL because this decision would've been so hard for me. I mean, both oh them, El and Rhea, cared for Byleth, for different reasons obviously but still, they cared And to be honest, it's possible that i didn't disliked neither of them (yeah, a Dimitri's fan liking Edelgard, i can see the toxic smackdown coming) But well, i guess that this type of situations make the game so amazing

I love Edelgard since the our first encounter with the three lords. I mean think from the perspective of a mercenary and you encounter three lords that you may be working with one day. Out of all the three lords, Edelgard is the only one that is perceptive, competent leader, visionary and clear headed. She gives off the air of responsibility and awareness of political movements and agendas. Naturally I will gravitate towards Edelgard, because I know she will be a great leader. I don’t side with Claude because the Alliance themselves uses a ineffective democracy-like system which will not have a clear vision (anything democracy is stupid because the most voted doesn’t mean it is the right thing, and it waste so much time to make a decision). Dimitri is short sighted and naive, and his lack of awareness of major issues also the later part his selfish desire to seek vengeance. But even in real life, personality like Edelgard is either respected or hated, but mostly hated and misunderstood. People like Edelgard seemed like she disregards people’s feelings and desire, but they just prioritise what is logically best for the people, and their vision is very far which most people are not perceptive enough to understand. But her true care came from her selfless nature to put the needs of her people over her own self, which to her is her responsibility. Respect! Psychology and personality wise, I love her the most. She is like my mom, except my mom is introverted, more like Hubert’s personality. Hubert and El have similar personalities, just one on opposite end of the introversion-extroversion continuum. I just love El so much. Idc about those who hate her, especially the dimitri fanboys, because they aren’t able to see the gem in her. They only like sad depressed people because “they seem more human”, but practically as a leader, the only choice they have is to be strong and have a clear perceptive mind, because it is their responsibility(huge responsibility). I’ve watched and read too many war movies, books and history, so yeah in politics you really don’t have the time and luxury to rest and be emotional or conflicted or whatnot, if not you’ll be squashed by your enemies tactics. One small mistake in a chess game will be your doom.

But also, yes, he is a good deal older than Edelgard, since she is actually his ninth child.
It was at this section where you side with Edelgard that I knew Rhea needed to be taken down. Her manipulative actions hiding behind a faith being very punitive. I do not agree with. That is not what Faith is for. Someone who serves out of fear isn't genuine. They don't have a faith because they want to, moreover it's born out of worry of being struck down. How sincere is that? Knowing what Rhea did to byleth, it was very selfish and self-serving. Again, I don't like that she's hiding behind the Goddess to achieve her goals. Just like Edelgard did when the professor came back. Edelgard even admits that she prefers having the professor around. In other routes where you don't pick the Black eagles, she always expressed jealousy that the professor went to a different house.

The one thing that always annoyed me about El was that you never REALLY get closure on the ways in which her actions directly contribute to Jeralts death even if she didn't intend it. I ran her route because I'm a completionist but if it were me I would not forgive her for that.
Not to mention in this timeline pretty much every major event in the game *(barring duscur arguably and being technical the incursion of the seven)* was her fault directly or otherwise
I can personally forgive her for jeralt’s death because i more blame twsitd. Like I know she’s not entirely blameless and some of the events in the story are her fault, but specifically jeralt’s death i know she would have never wanted considering a big part of her character is that she wants byleth to side with her. That plus the fact el and twsitd’s relationship is less partnership and more twsitd going “do what we say or we’ll kill u or worse” makes me blame them for jeralt’s death :/
After you combine with Sothis, on the first week, do all your activity points and then talk to edelgard. You must attend her coordination ( or however you say it) and then do the mission at that part as normal and then if you attended her crowning, the option to side with her will be available. Don't worry I was in the same boat as you
@@aaronbeasley974 you made that way too difficult to understand. Get her C support and on chapter 11 before the battle talk to her and there'll be an option to go with her or not, you choose to go with her
@@aaronbeasley974 You also don't have to go with her on the first week of chapter 11; you can wait until the last week and go with her (and you'll probably want to, as you'll need every opportunity you can get to build up your units in the Crimson Flower route due to it having fewer chapters than the other routes).
my first route was rheas mostly because i didnt know this route existed and when i got to the final battle i was fighting rhea and it was too strong for me as my units were really underleveled so i started over and joined edelgards side
yeah I had to do the same thing, nice thing is that after your first play though you can just kinda plow though the content up to this point so it should not take half as long to get to here

I think i just realized something watching this. Ive seen this scene a few times but only now do i think ive put 2 and 2 together (feel free to correct if im wrong lol) notice how Ferdinand calls himself the "legitimate" son of house aiger? I still can’t bring myself to finish the Blue lion’s route. All of them except Annette and Sylvain, are so boring! I can’t do it! I get to the the five year skip and they are all so boring! I loved Crimson Flower and the Golden deer routes! They just have more life in them, and are such fun!
I like this game, but this chapter twist alongside the 2 deaths of students (Dudue and the depressed girl) that are completely avoidable if you invest more time in the slice of life simulator (when this is a strategy game) are what infuriate me about 3 houses. I can understand making choices in the game can have consequences, I quite like that. What I don't like is imposing those consequences on the player when they are utterly ignorant of the choices they make (like talking to Dudue and doing his paralogue). I wish these weren't a feature and, instead, they just gave us a warning after unlocking the paralogue (for example: Warning: this paralogue can have an adverse affect in your route). For this reason alone, Awakening will always remain my favorite FE game until IS stop ruining the game with these silly story choices. I played Blue Lions when this game first came out, didn't do Dudue's paralogue and then carried on until the time-skip, in which I realised he was gone forever. Literally 20+ hours down the drain, so I dropped this game.
So...Uhm...quick question. How the hell is anyone convinced Edelgard isn't a god awful person? Edit: Yes I know everyone's morally gray in this game and when I commented this I was very mad at her. She's not god awful, but she messed up just like everyone else. Don't be offended, ok? If you want to discuss it in the comments, sure but aside from that it was really just a thought. My opinion's slightly changed since then.

Ashe and Lord Lenato, Sylvain and Miklan, heck Felix had his father killed. They all have their shit together. Edelgard however? She hasn't lost anyone and goes against those the empire originally allied with, because "she doesn't think it's right". Of course murder isn't right, but have you ever seen a traumatized person? Obviously they have outbursts every now and then.
It makes me so sad how the one route that Edelgard gets to live in is the one with the least chapters and cutscenes. Its tough being an Edelgard fan

After you combine with Sothis, on the first week, do all your activity points and then talk to edelgard. You must attend her coordination ( or however you say it) and then do the mission at that part as normal and then if you attended her crowning, the option to side with her will be available. @@aaronbeasley974 you made that way too difficult to understand. Get her C support and on chapter 11 before the battle talk to her and there'll be an option to go with her or not, you choose to go with her

@@aaronbeasley974 You also don't have to go with her on the first week of chapter 11; you can wait until the last week and go with her (and you'll probably want to, as you'll need every opportunity you can get to build up your units in the Crimson Flower route due to it having fewer chapters than the other routes).

my first route was rheas mostly because i didnt know this route existed and when i got to the final battle i was fighting rhea and it was too strong for me as my units were really underleveled
so i started over and joined edelgards side

I still can’t bring myself to finish the Blue lion’s route. All of them except Annette and Sylvain, are so boring! I can’t do it! I get to the the five year skip and they are all so boring! I loved Crimson Flower and the Golden deer routes! They just have more life in them, and are such fun!

I like this game, but this chapter twist alongside the 2 deaths of students (Dudue and the depressed girl) that are completely avoidable if you invest more time in the slice of life simulator (when this is a strategy game) are what infuriate me about 3 houses.
I can understand making choices in the game can have consequences, I quite like that. What I don't like is imposing those consequences on the player when they are utterly ignorant of the choices they make (like talking to Dudue and doing his paralogue).
I wish these weren't a feature and, instead, they just gave us a warning after unlocking the paralogue (for example: Warning: this paralogue can have an adverse affect in your route). For this reason alone, Awakening will always remain my favorite FE game until IS stop ruining the game with these silly story choices. I played Blue Lions when this game first came out, didn't do Dudue's paralogue and then carried on until the time-skip, in which I realised he was gone forever. Literally 20+ hours down the drain, so I dropped this game.
Dedue surviving isn't an adverse effect. It's a desirable outcome

Edit: Yes I know everyone's morally gray in this game and when I commented this I was very mad at her. She's not god awful, but she messed up just like everyone else.

Ashe and Lord Lenato, Sylvain and Miklan, heck Felix had his father killed. They all have their shit together. Edelgard however? She hasn't lost anyone and goes against those the empire originally allied with, because "she doesn't think it's right". Of course murder isn't right, but have you ever seen a traumatized person? Obviously they have outbursts every now and then.
