  • The Thing is not only my favorite horror movie of all time, it's my favorite movie. Even with that said, I had no idea that the movie received a video game sequel that John Carpenter officially approved! But how does it hold up? Let's find out!

I remember loving this game, but I was just a kid, so it was too scary and difficult for me to finish it, so I just watched my older brother and sister play it late into the night. It was also one of those 'blue discs', and after playing the game for several days our ps2 just died and couldn't read any disc (probably something to do with the laser thingy). We had to get a new console, which infuriated my dad. It's one of those games with weird, yet fond memories, and I'm surprised that so many people still remember it and talk about it nowadays. Great video btw.

As a Norwegian, one thing that bothers me about The Thing is that the Norwegian guy in the opening is played by one of the producers of the film. He’s American and his accent is so goofy. I watched it in a film class and everyone burst out laughing once he spoke. It’s so bad and he just sounds super weird.
Outside of that though I absolutely love the movie, it really is fantastic and I never get tired of the practical effects.
Great review as usual! I’ve heard about this game but I just never checked it out so it’s nice to hear about it.

Have you seen the 2011 prequel movie? I was annoyed how often English was spoke and how they hired American actors who made little to no attempt at putting on Norwegian accents. Overall just a terrible movie.

@@NoMooreMercyTV I did watch the sequel and it was just a mess. First of all I can’t stand the freaking PS3 looking CGI, they fused the practical effects with CGI in a way that did not work and it suffers greatly for it. And when it comes to the tension and immersion the film it just fails completely. And that’s what upsets me the most. The 80’s film has some of the best build-up in any horror film I’ve ever seen. It’s exciting, it’s scary, and the Thing feels so gross and life-like. I just never got that same feeling watching the 2011 film.

@@Forrealsyall Right?! I read that the original plan was to have practical effects, but the budget was slashed and they had to resort to the ugly CGI that's in the finished film.
