Russians who were kids in 90's know this song without even playing Sonic CD. This is a song that was in the show Dendy: New Reality. Dendy is a chinese copy of NES and Famicom that we had in Russia as most popular console. Of course we had Sega Mega Drive (Pirate one of course) and SNES (But this was official and pricy, so only chosen ones had it) Dendy: New Reality used this song for it's first episodes. So while you listen to this song and say "Sonic CD!" I say "Денди: Новая Реальность"
Bootleg consoles and games being the main market... not sure if a utopia or dystopia. Kinda both? Also as an American, do you know of any creepy Russian bootlegs I should check out?
@@weirdosheep9296 Bootleg consoles were also popular here in Thailand. China, HK, Taiwan, SE Asia, Australia, Endia, Porkistan all have those kind of market.
I love the US version but the Japanese version has that "1st zone, get hyped to play" kinda vibe, makes you want to play through, but this one is pretty dang good too.
Actually, it sounds like Disney Junior meets Jazz the Jackrabbit. The "yay" and other over-the-top goofiness is too childish for Sonic's chill personality. Sonic himself is whimsical at times but he never went all out infantile like that track does. It just does not have the radically cool factor of its Genesis brethren nor Sonic R... nor this superior American version. I honestly never will understand the appeal the Japanese soundtrack has.
@Nana Zoe Mario wasn't being put in Sonic, Quite the Opposite, This song from Sonic was being highlighted as being a perfect Fit for the tropical theme of Super Mario sunshine further proving just how much better Sonic is than Mario.
While I prefer the japanese music, I do actually like both soundtracks, the japanese music is a lot better in my opinion but the american soundtrack is actually retty catchy and fits the levels, not that the japanese music doesn't fit the levels but you get my point.
It mostly just depends on which version, but I grew up with the US version and I prefer the JP tracks. It's just a matter of personal tastes. I like the Japanese version more because it has a videogame feel to it, but I am more familiar with the US tracks.
Funny, as a fellow European I grew up with the US version of the soundtrack due to me owning this on Sonic Gems Collection back in 2005. I prefer the JP Soundtrack by far but the US gives me nostalgia. :)
Fun fact: The European version of Sonic Gems Collection for the GameCube actually has the US version of Sonic CD on it (since Sega were probably too lazy to change it), therefore it is possible for European gamers to experience both soundtracks if you happen to own the original Sega CD version as well :)
Both soundtracks are great in their own respects what I found strange about this song is my Mom loved this song so much she added to her iPod and she doesn't do that very often with video game music.
I like this one, it sound great. The US sounds much more chilled and aims at the tropical aspect of the level. It reminds me a lot of the angel island track from sonic 3, i also love that acoustic guitar part on 2:50, it sounds very happy!
The Japanese track does not match the atmosphere nor the rhythmic complexity of the US version. The American one has so much more thought into it to fit Sonic and his world. Japanese one sounds like a mishmash of mini-van kiddie cassette tracks like I am on a candy store spree sugar high. I totally get it: Sonic is supposed to appeal to children, but his personality is supposed to do it with rockin'-n-rollin', out-of-this-world awesomeness, not Fisher Price's speedway tunes. The Genesis games and the American soundtrack of Sonic CD embrace this identity so much better than the Japanese soundtrack ever does.
The American version of Palmtree Panic is way superior than the Japanese/EU one in my opinion. I'm European, but still, the US version of Palmtree Panic always puts me in a really good mood!
Both are pretty amazing I think. Some of the JP tracks I like more, some of the US I like more.. ect.. However, I don't think many people would disagree the US opening "Sonic Boom" is the better opening theme of the two.
Preferred this one over JP version as i like it tropic and yet mellow and good to start with a wonderful cheery track and most important it doesn't reminds me of the past music. If u like very bright and cheerful tone and a different mix from the palmtree past remember to check JP version of palmtree panic.
Throwing my hat into the soundtrack war, in general I prefer the Japanese soundtrack - though I will admit, the American version did have a few kick-ass tracks (particularly for the Present stages, not so much either Future...)
the bass line makes this song. :) The thing with the soundtracks? I like both equally. Some rounds beat others. For me it tends to trade off. I like US's PP better but I like the Europe/Japan CC better, etc, etc.
yeah, i honestly like the japanese mettallic madness better, but i like the american stardust speedway better, and everything else is neutral. i was actually thinking of a mix of those two songs, which actually sounded pretty good in my head. XD
@Drewmartial2 Because of the acoustic guitar? Well yeah I suppose you are right. But if you listen to some of the USA bad futures, I think you'll find they are a lot more ominous...
ahh this song does explain the start of sonics journey to defeat eggman i just dont like the blandness in it and it seems i've missed the party rather than seeing it first. the japanese actually roots for sonic in a amazing way but still is a little bland but still i liked a japanese just a bit better with the american classes of instruments
I'm just going to tell you a thing that would change your life, in the background of this picture shown on the video. Look at the biggest mountain, do you see it yet? If yes then I just changed the way you will look at this picture again.
Ah, well, I called it Sonic Goes Hawaiian because my sister lived in Hawaii for a few years. Now I'd call it what you called it because now she lives in Washington State.

I know its annoying to compare songs but since everybody else is doing it and it wont stop any time soon, the Japanese tunes for this level (all 4 time zones) are way better. Same goes for Metallic Madness, other then that I think all the songs are equal. Cool story bra.
3 seconds in it sounds like when Mario gets a shinesprite in super Mario sunshine. Oh shit this came out before sunshine. Sega gets to sue Nintendo for this. At least it won't be like the gamevice situation. Joking aside I love this song.

Both soundtracks are amazing. Anyone else agree?
EXACTLY!! They both are good!
I am the only one who likes this version of Palmtree Panic?
Nope.
prefer the japanese one but this is good
+Klavier Sapphire (Glass Glade) This one fits the level better because this song has a tropical feel to it.
+Klavier Sapphire (Glass Glade) i LOOOVE this one honestly. It makes me feel like I'm getting on a cruise. It's really REALLY well produced.
+Darker Blue Wrath (Klavier Sapphire) This version sounds happier to me.
Man the USA soundtrack of this game is really underrated.
having Just played Super Mario Sunshine, i feel as though this tune could Easily fit into a level in it xD
@Nana Zoe Mario wasn't being put in Sonic, Quite the Opposite, This song from Sonic was being highlighted as being a perfect Fit for the tropical theme of Super Mario sunshine further proving just how much better Sonic is than Mario.
0:18 the yoshi.mp3 of the Sonic franchise
I REALLY like the us version of this stage. It gives the game more of an explorative vibe to it, and it is phenomenal.
The US soundtrack is underrated! All the themes are really good, apart from the awful songs in Metallic Madness.
US: Palmtree
JP: Panic
That's not right
While I prefer the japanese music, I do actually like both soundtracks, the japanese music is a lot better in my opinion but the american soundtrack is actually retty catchy and fits the levels, not that the japanese music doesn't fit the levels but you get my point.
I honestly think the JP version is better, but this song is pretty cool too. It would fit PERFECTLY in a hawaiian beach level, though
+TailsTheFox47 Me too, man.
this sure brings back memories wish we could go back to being in the 90's
This sounds very tropical!
I think this suits Palmtree Panic more than the JP version, although they're both great songs.
YAAAY. SOMETHING BAD IN JP
@@HeitorMD both songs are good
This song makes me think about palm trees, so it does its job.
NOW THIS IS MY WORLD
HIS WORLLDD
One of the few very good tracks from the US soundtrack.
I prefer this version Compared to the JP version
You know what I like about Sonic CD's music is that it makes you feel like your in the Sonic game World!
Sonic the Erizo.
It would be great if Sega put the US tracks in the zones 1 and JP in the zones 2 and 3.
Только Русские вспомнят эту музыку из передачи "Dendy новая реальность".
It mostly just depends on which version, but I grew up with the US version and I prefer the JP tracks. It's just a matter of personal tastes. I like the Japanese version more because it has a videogame feel to it, but I am more familiar with the US tracks.
Sonic: I’m outta here
MWAHAHAHAAA!!!
Sounds like lilo and stitch
Funny, as a fellow European I grew up with the US version of the soundtrack due to me owning this on Sonic Gems Collection back in 2005.

I like this one more then the japanese one which is a bit surprising as most of the tracks on the Japanese are better
Yes, both are quite amazing.
Both soundtracks are great in their own respects
what I found strange about this song is my Mom loved this song so much she added to her iPod and she doesn't do that very often with video game music.
This is like 1,000,000x better than the Japanese version of Palmtree Panic
Sounds like a Yoshis Island song
doesn't hold a candle to the japanese one.

I like this one, it sound great. The US sounds much more chilled and aims at the tropical aspect of the level. It reminds me a lot of the angel island track from sonic 3, i also love that acoustic guitar part on 2:50, it sounds very happy!

Thats cool for a first level, but the JP version have the more Sonic game feel

I like this better than the JP version, but I like JP G mix better... the two tracks make a perfect blend
Now this more like Palm Tree music.
That fucking guitar solo
This is way more relaxing than JP's upbeat version

so this is where Rayman Origins got this music track from...interesting
darkhero1337 Huh, it does sound similar...
it does sound a rayman song
@FullmetalX4 The JPN version IS also the English version. This is the American version.
@MRR0000WIE You're nuts.
Even if it's 7 months old, you are nuts. =D
For some reason this reminded me of, week end at Bernies. : 3
Fun fact: I own it on PC, and it lets you pick between the JP and US soundtracks.
FFS, I meant all 3 time zones because the past is the same in both versions.
Fucking awesome
Throwing my hat into the soundtrack war, in general I prefer the Japanese soundtrack - though I will admit, the American version did have a few kick-ass tracks (particularly for the Present stages, not so much either Future...)
Sounds like a Caribbean theme!

the bass line makes this song. :) The thing with the soundtracks? I like both equally. Some rounds beat others. For me it tends to trade off. I like US's PP better but I like the Europe/Japan CC better, etc, etc.
I have this game on Sonic Gems Collection. I love this zone! By far, it's the easiest to pass.

I gotta play this when I am in Hawaii
This makes me want to shake and shimmy. Also, it reminds me of Hawaii. Kinda fitting how I say that because my sister lives there :-D
@lykins8 Both, you can switch between the soundtracks on the main menu

yes

This sounds like a mix of DJ and T-Hawks Street Fighter Theme.
You and me both.

LOL same. I call this "Sonic Goes Hawaiian".
This sounds like a Super Mario 3D World soundtrack.
Except the Game-over theme.
@Ultimauser50
Right... sorry about that. I had no idea the option existed until I looked further into it. Whoops. :P
ahh this song does explain the start of sonics journey to defeat eggman i just dont like the blandness in it and it seems i've missed the party rather than seeing it first.
the japanese actually roots for sonic in a amazing way but still is a little bland but still i liked a japanese just a bit better with the american classes of instruments
@mariofan96 Yeah, and then you hear the Game Over music...
which was used for the xbox version because i do not recognize this
