US Good Future: "Haha man just relax everything is cool here" JP Bad Future: "OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT" US Bad Future: "Oh...well this isn't very good...can you fix this please?"
In general, Japanese Bad Future tracks feel like "OH SHIT THIS IS BAD, YOU MUST GO BACK TO THE PAST!!!" and NA versions feel more like: "Oh no... what did that maniac do to this place?"
For me, all three songs go to the JP version. The present version is so upbeat and happy, and perfectly sets the tone for the rest of the game, while still having a nostalgic and wistful tone to it. The US Good Future version just doesn’t have the celebratory energy that the JP one does, and the JP Bad Future perfectly captures the shock the player would feel upon realizing that THIS is the future of Palmtree Panic. The NA version is just kind of… meh. Oh no, it’s a bad future. That kinda sucks, I guess. The JP version is more like, “Congrats, dipshit. You doomed us all. Nice work.” With that being said, the NA present theme is super underrated, and it was a really close call between the two for me.
Present: JP: I love this place! US: Hmmm… That looks awesome! Good Future: JP: I feel too happy! US: Time to relax… Bad Future: JP: Damn, I can’t recognize this place! US: Oohh... I have a headache...
Present JP: Sounds like you discovered a friendly native tribe deep in the Amazon and they're celebrating your visit. Present US: Sounds like you're just relaxing on a beautiful tropical beach watching the sunset sipping a mimosa. Good future JP: Sounds like the tribesmen took you a little deeper into the jungle to unveil a breathtaking view their magnificent bustling jungle city full of happy people living in peace with each other and the world itself. Good future US: Sounds like you're hiking through the jungle with your friends on a great vacation having tons of fun. Bad future JP: Sounds like you were accidentally unplugged from the matrix and woke up in a pod in the machine city's power plant. Bad future US: Sounds like native tribes people mourning the loss of the final tree in the rainforest as it is taken down to make way for more factory space and pollution.
Yeah, I kinda agree with you. I found that (in general) the Japanese songs are great in and of themselves, but the NA songs tend to suit the levels better
Tbh I perfect the US version or Palmtree panic present because it fits so well. Aka you are on a vacation in Cuba. Meanwhile for the good future theme thats where I prefer the JP track there. As for the bad future that's where JP shines in making and evil AF track. It took its good future and present versions and twists it to something nightmarish This is my thoughts on the Palmtree panic ost.
Present: JP JP:YAAAAAAH! US:Fell the tropical vibe! Bad Future: JP JP:Robotnik will destroy the island! Stop him! US:Robotnik drestroyed the island, everything is lost now... . Good Future: JP JP:YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! US:Yeah! You save the island, and now everything right! JP: 5 US: 0
the us good future sounds like it would fit past since it's slow and not that bright I would've liked if they put the present song over the good future
Fun fact: after and before the songs, the JP past version of each zone's song plays in the background as background music because the past music of both versions are the same(to make a long story short, the past music is always going to be JP no matter which version you put it).
@@UramiLamb it was because they wanted to keep a bit of the JP soundtrack in the game, and the past themes would have been the most effort to replace, so "WE'RE NOT CHANGING THE PAST THEMES BOYS, TAKE THE SATURDAY OFF." (Sega of America, probably)
As far as the bad future goes.......the japanese one is a catchier song, but the north american one is more atmospheric and does a better job giving off a depressing "everything's fucked" feeling.
Oh, that's not to say the Japanese one isn't menacing. It's just that the Japanese one is a better song, while the US one is a better ATMOSPHERE. Besides, when I think of a tropical area affected by relentless technology and pollution, I think more of a depressing wasteland than a robot rave party.
I kind of like the Japanese version bad future music more, gives off that "yes! victory is ours, we shall celebrate our new polluted home with a party", while the US is atmospheric, it sounds lame when compared to the JP version. Sonic wasn't suppose to really be taken seriously, at least back in the day. It was 'till SatAM started the whole edgy tone that he would, though.
I honestly find both soundtracks are great. The Japanese version is much lighter and more peppy, while the American version gives the game a much darker and more epic feel. As if Robotnik will destroy everything if you fail to stop him.
Despite being American myself, I strongly prefer the Japanese release OST just because it's more like a Sonic game. Perhaps, if this was a game from a different franchise then it wouldn't sound as jarring.
JP/EU Palmtree Panic Present sounds like you're having a _huge_ party on a tropical island. NA Palmtree Panic Present has the same tropical island vibe but more like you're just kinda chilling, hangin' out, y'know? Also JP/EU Good Future is giving me vibes of being at a water park or something... don't ask me why since I've never been to one 😂😂😂
JP: Present: Summer time in a nutshell Good future: Still summer in the city. Bad future: Did the forecast tell us about a tornado? US: Present: I'm chilling by the pool. Good future: It's like the whole planet Earth became cleaner and less polluted. Bad future: See son, this is how the Chernobyl forests look like.
Present: Japanese. it's more fitting a beginning level and the Middle section makes me cry. Good Future: TIE. the Japanese is suiting the level a litle bit better (because the Good Future looks the same as the present) and some parts of the song make me cry. the US one doesn't realy fit the level so well like the japanese one but THE WHOLE SONG MAKES ME CRY! i can't pick a winner! Bad Future: Japanese. It keeps the tropical feel. the US version is lacking a melody and instruments
Standard Prejudice More fitting? Sonic the hedgehog is a fast paced game the Japanese sound track fits that way better than the US's soundtrack. Sonic always had a techno/dance theme in the 90s (it's still kind of like that now). In my opinion the US's constant slow paced tracks don't belong there.
+tails300 This game isn't really fast paced, and this is a much darker Sonic game with more atmosphere to it, and the US soundtrack fits this game perfectly. But that's just my opinion.
Standard Prejudice Sonic 3 & Knuckles had an even darker theme but still managed to include a much faster paced, light hearted soundtrack. I think the US soundtrack is crap in comparison to the Japanese one, but that's just my opinion too.
Present: JP/PAL - very melodic and very catchy; possibly my favourite track on the soundtrack Bad future: JP/PAL - primarily because I dislike the American one for being too 'boring' Good future: US - I like the futuristic vibe over the JP/PAL one, which was just a re-hash of the present version
Yes. All songs will be compared with the exception of all the "Past" music (because it's the same) and "Little Planet" (because there isn't a NA version of this song)
Present: Too close to call. Both are pretty damn good songs and both are equally memorable to me. Good Future: It feels like the Japanese song used up all of its upbeat characteristics in the Present song and just went overboard to make it even more celebratory and it sounds way too busy and cluttered as a result. The US is sharp, memorable, and does sound very different compared to the Present song. US takes it easily. Bad Future: The JP version creates creates false tension in a desolate landscape. However, it is still a bit better of a song than the US version. JP takes it.
I think the japanese Bad Future theme fits the level. It sounds creepy, the instruments from the Present play, but sound corrupted. And the theme itself sounds like there's no way turning back.
I guess that I disagree with you when comparing the Palmtree Panic Japanese Bad Future to the US Bad Future. You have to look at it from this point: the Present and Good Futures in the Japanese track are both full of excitement and energy, the Bad Future is supposed too be a warped parody (As heard with the distorted music samples from the Present). That's just my take on the track however.
+KingMeteorStudios do you know what salsa is cuz that's what kind of music they use in jp palmtree panic that's why good future use a lot of piano because salsa uses a lot of tropical instruments but to keep the band together they use the piano
JP Present: COOL! US Present: I guess it’s good JP G Future: OMG BETTER! US G Future: Good! Not too bad! JP B Future: Woah... 🙁 US B Future: Kind of Dark...
You can't be serious!!! The Japan version of the Good Future music sounds SOOOOOOOOO much better and SOOOOO much more fitting for a happy, upbeat future of a tropical resort!
Are you serious? Why would anyone prefer one of the laziest Good Future tracks(I say "one of the laziest" because Tidal Tempest JP exists) over the US version?
Present: US: 8.5/10 JP: 8.5/10 (Both fit the level pretty well. The Japanese one was very fast paced and happy, but maybe a bit _too_ happy. US feels very tropical. Not my favorites, but good tracks) Good Future: US: 8.5/10 JP: 8/10 ("Dinosaur land is finally at peace!" - Thats the feel I get from the US version :P. JP is a decent enough remix of the original though) Bad Future: US: 8.5/10 JP: 8.5/10 (the Japanese theme is simply MADNESS!!! Very... interesting song. The US soundtrack though, sounds like a tribal ritual, and definetely gives the feel of a desolated island for me) US: 4 JP: 2
Present JP/EU: Amazing energy! US: Dish clattering noises Good future JP/EU: EVEN MORE ENERGETIC! US: More dishes, what Bad future JP/EU: Chaotic, sinister and amazing US: STOP WITH THE DISHES GODDAMMIT Closing statement: This is probably my favourite JP/EU level soundtrack overall. As for the US one... you get what I think about it.
i agree 80% of the video except palmtree panic good future i feel the present and good future correlate together because its more of a paradise wonderland not necessarily a tropical place the north american, while atmospheric gets very boring and only gives alittle sense of victory and it honestly doesnt sound like music that fits with a paradise wonderland the bad future japanese version is epic as hell...(best music ever) and it doesnt sound too happy i guess it sounds like that so its not creepy sometimes an atmospheric soundtrack doesnt make it all the better (my opinion)
The US version of Good future sounds like I’m on a South African safari, it’s extremely out of place for Palmtree panic. Plus I rather the Good future than the present version.
My favorites: Present: Japanese Good Future: Japanese Bad Future: Japanese Seriously, almost everything in the JP version of the soundtrack sounds way better than the US soundtrack.
USA, USA, USA! USA version all the way! The Japanese versions sound like cheap game show theme songs, while the USA/North America version sounds like some very nice tropical themed music which goes along perfectly with the theme of the stage.
Present: JP (I love how happy and energetic the JP version sounds, and it just makes me feel great! The NA version suits the level well and is a good song, but it sounds a bit boring compared to the JP version) Good Future: Tie (Both songs suits the good future really well but in different ways. The JP version makes me want to celebrate for creating a good future, while the NA version makes me want to relax after working hard to create a good future) Bad Future: JP (The NA version sounds sad and it gives me the feeling of being in a lifeless and polluted area, which really suits Palmtree Panic's bad future. However, I think that the JP version is a greater song overall. I really like how dark and evil it sounds) JP: 3 NA: 1
I believe the US soundtrack is better because it does a better job of allowing the player to have a feeling of what it would be like to be in that area in reality. The tracks just have more of an... atmospheric sound to them.
It's a sonic game they just can't have a feel to the environment, they need to have that energetic spike so that we know we are playing a game of speed
Hello again, my new opinion is here. Here’s the score we’re having, the NA and JPN tied last round. JPN : 1 NA : 1 Let’s continue... Present : These are really good tracks, they’re very cheerful and great song, they’re one of the best song for a first level in Sonic 16 Bits games... The JPN while is very cheerful, nostalgia, it’s a great track. The NA while isn’t quite as good as the JPN version, it have more tropical feel and I really love the last part, whenever I played Sonic CD, I go to Palmtree Panic Present and use US soundtracks, I always wanted to last here some more seconds to hear the last part, it was a great track. Since both tracks are beautiful, cheerful, the JPN is nostalgia, the US is tropical... And... I really think... The JPN VERSION IS A BETTER SONG. JPN : 2 US : 1 Good Future : The Japanese is a great song, it is beautiful and a great song of course as you can see. And the US is also cheerful, it is a good track, but it is like wanting to keep you back, unlike the Japanese version, those “Yeah!!” is like cheering you up to continue saving the planet, this round goes to Japanese Version. JPN : 3 US : 1 Bad Future : Yup the Japanese is dark, intense, bad future and very crazy. The US isn’t that, but it describes a bad future pretty well too, it is a ominous song, it is bad future, but very forgetable compared to Japanese ones. Japanese wins again. JPN : 4 US : 1
Recently played through with both (a quick game with the Japanese soundtrack, and then a few more complete ones for Steam achievements with the U.S. soundtrack). Came away vastly preferring the U.S. soundtrack overall. This is a case where isolating the tracks doesn't really do the comparison justice. The Japanese tracks, as evidenced here, tend to sound more exciting on their own, but within the game they tend to make the entire experience feel hyperactive. The U.S. version's jazzy atmospherics create the perfect background tracks. I think the U.S. version is a really stellar video-game soundtrack overall.
The bad future songs are intriguing. Japanese shows that since you failed to stop robutnik's invasion the and now you have to pay the price for it. The US version feels like it is trying to tell us that Palmtree Panic's inhabitants have given up on trying to stop robutnik.
Here's the difference between the two osts: japanese/eu ost is basically sonic music level, and the us ost is cool music for people who want cool options. US ost for me.
The EU version is the one I played as a kid so that's the one I have more affinity for. But overall the sound track for the EU/JP is far superior. I mean come on, TOOT TOOT SONIC WARRIOR for christ sake! I find it impossible to comprehend that people prefer Sonic Boom over that
Present-JP. It really gives off a happy and stylish vibe to a first level. US isnt far behind either, I enjoy the calm and soothing mellow beat GF: US. Both Tracks sound great. While the JP version gives off a happy, party vibe, US pushes ahead with an atmospherical approach of a happy and healthy, tropical jungle BF: US- Same Reason to Above. US BF gives off that atmospheric vibe which depresses and makes you feel guilty while you listen. The JP version sounds like a purely robotized wasteland, where the echos of once happy children yondered, and gives a "Hurry" vibe
Here we are again, and this time we get into ranking the actual zones, the "main thing" to rank basically. MANY love Palmtree Panic JP, and I do too, but the US version is also underrated and deserves some attention. Let the battle commence again! *Round 3 - PP Present* This was hard to decide, the Japanese version is lovely, but I find it too upbeat for a Present theme, while this is about the polar opposite for the American version. After alot of deciding, I finally concluded the *Japanese version wins this round.* Even though the USA version is more fitting for a Present theme, I just think the JPN version is more memorable and shows a pretty good introduction to Palmtree Panic. *Round 4 - PP Good Future* The composers had to turn an already upbeat track into something even more upbeat, and boy they made it beautiful. My main gripe though with the Japanese version is that sometimes it gets on my nerves and is just too too much cheery for my likes, not to mention almost everything is just a more louder PP Present JP. The US version sure is rewarding without becoming annoying, which is why *USA wins baby!* Round 5 - Pamtree Panic Bad Future The Japanese version of this track was one of my favorite bad futures in sonic cd for me, and in fact was even my favorite in the entirety of bad future tracks, but is has massively fallen now. It's simply too crazy for my likes now. Don't get me wrong, it is still good and I understand the approach of everything being corrupted and ruined under Eggman's rule, but it's just too crazy and that is why the *US version is better.* I know well that I will get alot of hate for my opinion, do what you will Sonic fandom. The American theme shows how the nature in what was once Palmtree Panic has been reduced to a barren, desolate wasteland full of pollution. The lack of instruments is intentional, because it shows the place is empty now, all walks of life are gone because of Robotnik. The mourning also adds up and of you still don't like the music becauss it's boring, take a listen to the album version then. The US version is criminally underrated, I wish people would give it more attention. JPN: 2 USA: 3 Looks like the US version has the upper hand. Will the Japanese version still have a chance to win this war?
The lack of instruments in the US Bad Future is actually because it isn't the completed version of the song. There's an album version that adds those instruments that were missing, and it makes the track even better.
@@starcomettosanol8659 I think it was also theorised that the album versions weren't actually the complete versions of the tracks, moreso just improvements which I'm glad were made like with how MMZ Bad Future is
Present: Tie (The JP/EU version is cheerful and makes me feel like it's a lively paradise. The US version, however, has these awesome Spanish guitars, and it sounds more tropical). Good Future: Tie (The JP/EU makes me feel like I should celebrate with pizza and cake since I turned Palmtree Panic's future into a good future! However, the US version makes me feel like I should relax under a palm tree, having a coconut, watching the breeze go by me, and watching all the animals, wandering around this good future) . Bad Future: US (The JP/EU version sounds too crazy. I personally think that the US version suits the level better). US: 4 JP/EU: 3
Present: Japanese (American doesn’t really sound that good though it does fit) Good Future:Tie (They sound so good!) Bad Future: Tie (Japanese is a really good song but American fits better) JP:3 US: 0
I love you for making this. Anyways my opinion: Present: Tie (they're both really good) Good future: US (what he said. also neither of them really left an impression on me so i couldn't really choose) Bad Future: JP (The US version sounds too much like the good future. Also theres a really pretty part near the end of the Japanese one)
Palmtree Panic JP: Should fit more for the Good Future. US: Sounds like a picnic! But due. Bad Future JP: It sounds pretty Epic, but would rather be better for a Mechanical fortress. US: Is actually fit. One is in a devastated by Eggman palm forest. so: JP: 2 US: 3
You're trying to be balanced when there is no comparison between the two, the Japanese/EU sounds 20 times better than the North American and as a bonus the demonic boss music isn't in the Japanese/EU version
Very good. I'm starting to prefer the American Soundtrack to the Japanese Soundtrack now. Damn. I prefer the US version of the Palmtree Panic Bad Future song, because it is dark, and suits the level very well, in my opinion.
Present: US, as much as I like the japanese version, the american simply fits better for a first level, specially a tropical themed one, and that guitar solo is great Good future: Tie, this time the over cheerfullness of the japanese version actually fits the level, it's pretty good, but the american version has a tropical, relaxing sounds that is just as good, I really can't decide here although i prefer the japanese bad future:JP/EU I really don't get why would anybody think this sounds "happy" (no offense), it sounds evil to me, while still having a tropical vibe to it. The american version seems to enhance the feeling of being in a polluted area with a river made of basically toxic waste, and it may even fit better the looks of the stage, but I prefer the evil tones of the other version US: 1 JP/EU: 1
Present:Goes To US Because:(Sounds Tropical and fit to the palmtree panic present) Score:92 Present:Goes To JP Because:(Happier and the middle of the song was quiet sad to me) Score:99 Good Future:Goes To US Because:(The Good Future Sounds tropical again and not too happy) Score:85 Good Future:Goes To JP Because(Happy Time Have Fun playing without enemies) Score:AMAZED Bad Future:Goes To US(Too Depressing to me and good than the crazy JP version) Score:GREAT No JP Because:(What a Crazy Sonic.exe theme) Score:21 US:297 JP:330 Score Can Be Seen: GREAT:120 PERFECT:150 AMAZED:200 INCREDIBLE:250
Palmtree panic present songs are both good. Japanese/european version sounds like a celebration party with all happiness and dance. And US version sounds like being in a tropical island. Cool songs
I'll try to continue what I started under your previous video. For now, the situation is this: JP 1 - US 1 Palmtree Panic Present: the JP one is surely joyful, but honestly I find it more fitting for a ten years brazilian boy's birthday party than the level. It's too much over the top with all the cheers and the applauses. Even if it's the easy part of the adventure, it's still Sonic trying to stop the evil plans of Robotnik, a party music is just off and unfitting. On the other hand, the US one capture the essence of the level better. It's more focused on trying to represent the level than to an hypotetical party. To me, this one goes to the US soundtrack. JP 1 - US 2 Palmtree Panic Good Future: the JP version is not half bad, but overall it's just a slightly better version of the present theme and, as such, it has the same problem. The US one is peaceful and it really gives that tropical vibe that the level needs. This round goes to the US version too. JP 1 - US 3 Palmtree Panic Bad Future: that one is really difficult. I didn't remember the JP one being that good. It's really like a punch in your face, for the first time you see what happens in the game when you fail in changing the future and that's kind of an impact. I don't really find it to be too happy for being a bad future, the chop'n'screw samples from the present theme give a really distorted and mechanical feeling, and I find it to be pure genius. I still like the US version more with it misterious and dangerous jungle vibes, and i find it more fitting too. But the JP one really has a better impact from the game perspective: "well, dear Sonic, now you know what happens when you fail. Make yourself at home". Even if i like the US version more, I can't ignore all that, so the JP version win this round. JP 2 - US 3
Bad future JP has a couple cues that make me really uncomfortable, like the yeah at the beginning is done by robotnik, and the animal yeah in the other time zones repeats itself like someone recorded it and is playing it over and over again, it feels artificial. That along with the part where its off key and tries to fit a part from the other timeline in is just emanating a ‘this is better than the good future, so theres no need to be afraid… right?’ feel like robotnik is trying to make it so that torture feels like what theyre used to
US bad future is one of the best atmospheric tracks. JP Bad Future sounds like a city where everyone got turned into robots. US Bad Future sounds like the once-beautiful vacation beach is now an abandoned, polluted wasteland: it's solemn and lower energy, reflecting on what was lost. JP generally sounds more high energy, while US is more atmospheric and fitting to the level. Here it's hyper happy music vs relaxing vacation.
Good Future JP makes it sound like the animals are cheering you throughout the level!
It's a sonic theme park
Good Future JP has too many things going on at the beginning which just ruins the whole song for me
Teddy Sheppard it also like he said, sounds too much like the present and not as good.
And the Bad Future makes it sound like the yay kids are now robots.

I mean, since when did sonic need to have a certain music genre?
The JP bad future with the piano over the creepy beat is such an oxymoronic choice, but it fits so well!
Palmtree Panic Bad Future US sounds like it's being sang by Native Americans.
Bad future palmtree paradise JP sounds like an eggman rollercoaster as he took over the island and of course a Chaotic panic

Japan has 10x better music
The NA themes are more fitting though.
Greybo thank you Japan's got ball
Present: JP/PAL - very melodic and very catchy; possibly my favourite track on the soundtrack
Bad future: JP/PAL - primarily because I dislike the American one for being too 'boring'
Good future: US - I like the futuristic vibe over the JP/PAL one, which was just a re-hash of the present version
yknow, watching these old simple videos kinda just make me feel comfortable.
If the song created a false tension, then why give it a point? It's supposed to fit the area, not sound better.
Bad future Jp!!
It's such a great song right?
+Sean Lecca (Seanleccaepic123) Yes it is. It's my favorite bad future theme.
it catches a darker feel
Luis3dj the muffin man While still being upbeat at the same time, so it's not too bland or creepy.
Yeah
I think the japanese Bad Future theme fits the level. It sounds creepy, the instruments from the Present play, but sound corrupted. And the theme itself sounds like there's no way turning back.
I guess that I disagree with you when comparing the Palmtree Panic Japanese Bad Future to the US Bad Future.
You have to look at it from this point: the Present and Good Futures in the Japanese track are both full of excitement and energy, the Bad Future is supposed too be a warped parody (As heard with the distorted music samples from the Present).
That's just my take on the track however.
Which soundtrack did the European version have? The Japanese, the American, or maybe a third Euro soundtrack? :)
Europe had the Japanese soundtrack. (I just didn't feel like saying Japanese/European every time)
The original EU soundtrack was the Japanese. All subsequent releases were US, except for the videos on the compilations.
+KingMeteorStudios do you know what salsa is cuz that's what kind of music they use in jp palmtree panic that's why good future use a lot of piano because salsa uses a lot of tropical instruments but to keep the band together they use the piano
Same as jp
It would be on team EU if they had their own separate OST
JP Present: COOL!
US Present: I guess it’s good
JP G Future: OMG BETTER!
US G Future: Good! Not too bad!
JP B Future: Woah... 🙁
US B Future: Kind of Dark...
You can't be serious!!! The Japan version of the Good Future music sounds SOOOOOOOOO much better and SOOOOO much more fitting for a happy, upbeat future of a tropical resort!
He picked the NA one, because the JP/EU one was while happy and cheerful, still didn't sound tropical.
Are you serious? Why would anyone prefer one of the laziest Good Future tracks(I say "one of the laziest" because Tidal Tempest JP exists) over the US version?
US is a lot more tropical where the JP is more like music for a birthday, (the present ones anyway)
Every time I here the no version of the good future theme I keep thinking they are setting children on fire at the start.
I said no, I meant jp
Present:
US: 8.5/10
JP: 8.5/10

Good Future:

("Dinosaur land is finally at peace!" - Thats the feel I get from the US version :P. JP is a decent enough remix of the original though)
Bad Future:

i feel the present and good future correlate together because its more of a paradise wonderland
not necessarily a tropical place
the north american, while atmospheric gets very boring and only gives alittle sense of victory and it honestly doesnt sound like music that fits with a paradise wonderland
the bad future japanese version is epic as hell...(best music ever) and it doesnt sound too happy i guess it sounds like that so its not creepy
sometimes an atmospheric soundtrack doesnt make it all the better

Michael Chandran actually it adds to the detail.
The US version of Good future sounds like I’m on a South African safari, it’s extremely out of place for Palmtree panic. Plus I rather the Good future than the present version.

Good thing they reinstated the original score in the XBLA/PSN/PC/Android/etc. re-release.
USA, USA, USA! USA version all the way! The Japanese versions sound like cheap game show theme songs, while the USA/North America version sounds like some very nice tropical themed music which goes along perfectly with the theme of the stage.

Good Future: Tie (Both songs suits the good future really well but in different ways. The JP version makes me want to celebrate for creating a good future, while the NA version makes me want to relax after working hard to create a good future)
Bad Future: JP (The NA version sounds sad and it gives me the feeling of being in a lifeless and polluted area, which really suits Palmtree Panic's bad future. However, I think that the JP version is a greater song overall. I really like how dark and evil it sounds)

Just like the Good Future theme in the JP version lol
japanese version of palmtree panic is fucking THE BEST!
fun fact: in the mobile version of sonic cd, it’s japanese.
There's a soundtrack option that lets you switch to US and JPN soundtracks.
do not forget that the level is names palmtree PANIC
if the us ost was the main ost it would have been name something like palmtree promenade
I believe the US soundtrack is better because it does a better job of allowing the player to have a feeling of what it would be like to be in that area in reality. The tracks just have more of an... atmospheric sound to them.
Agreed.
It's a sonic game they just can't have a feel to the environment, they need to have that energetic spike so that we know we are playing a game of speed
Radiant P3nguin It's called a game to okay not a game to look at the scenes. Why play something you can google or pull up on RUclips.

Hello again, my new opinion is here. Here’s the score we’re having, the NA and JPN tied last round.
JPN : 1
NA : 1
Let’s continue...
JPN : 2
US : 1
Good Future : The Japanese is a great song, it is beautiful and a great song of course as you can see. And the US is also cheerful, it is a good track, but it is like wanting to keep you back, unlike the Japanese version, those “Yeah!!” is like cheering you up to continue saving the planet, this round goes to Japanese Version.
JPN : 3
US : 1
Bad Future : Yup the Japanese is dark, intense, bad future and very crazy. The US isn’t that, but it describes a bad future pretty well too, it is a ominous song, it is bad future, but very forgetable compared to Japanese ones. Japanese wins again.
JPN : 4
US : 1
Palm tree panic present: US
Good future: jp/eu
Both soundtracks are amazing!
Present:tied
Good future:USA one is close but JP takes the lead
Bad future:JP
The bad future songs are intriguing. Japanese shows that since you failed to stop robutnik's invasion the and now you have to pay the price for it. The US version feels like it is trying to tell us that Palmtree Panic's inhabitants have given up on trying to stop robutnik.
Here's the difference between the two osts: japanese/eu ost is basically sonic music level, and the us ost is cool music for people who want cool options. US ost for me.
Japanese bad future sounds kinda demonic
The EU version is the one I played as a kid so that's the one I have more affinity for. But overall the sound track for the EU/JP is far superior. I mean come on, TOOT TOOT SONIC WARRIOR for christ sake! I find it impossible to comprehend that people prefer Sonic Boom over that
Does anyone else feel like US Good Future reminds the ending of The Return of Jedi movie? :P
+AluadoPK I thought it sounded like the Lion King.
Good Future in JP - Perfect, USA - Medium.
Present-JP. It really gives off a happy and stylish vibe to a first level. US isnt far behind either, I enjoy the calm and soothing mellow beat
GF: US. Both Tracks sound great. While the JP version gives off a happy, party vibe, US pushes ahead with an atmospherical approach of a happy and healthy, tropical jungle
BF: US- Same Reason to Above. US BF gives off that atmospheric vibe which depresses and makes you feel guilty while you listen. The JP version sounds like a purely robotized wasteland, where the echos of once happy children yondered, and gives a "Hurry" vibe
The USA sounds like it belongs in a Mario game.
Maybe a Mario rpg.
Here we are again, and this time we get into ranking the actual zones, the "main thing" to rank basically. MANY love Palmtree Panic JP, and I do too, but the US version is also underrated and deserves some attention. Let the battle commence again!
*Round 3 - PP Present*
This was hard to decide, the Japanese version is lovely, but I find it too upbeat for a Present theme, while this is about the polar opposite for the American version. After alot of deciding, I finally concluded the *Japanese version wins this round.* Even though the USA version is more fitting for a Present theme, I just think the JPN version is more memorable and shows a pretty good introduction to Palmtree Panic.
*Round 4 - PP Good Future*
The composers had to turn an already upbeat track into something even more upbeat, and boy they made it beautiful. My main gripe though with the Japanese version is that sometimes it gets on my nerves and is just too too much cheery for my likes, not to mention almost everything is just a more louder PP Present JP. The US version sure is rewarding without becoming annoying, which is why *USA wins baby!*
Round 5 - Pamtree Panic Bad Future
The Japanese version of this track was one of my favorite bad futures in sonic cd for me, and in fact was even my favorite in the entirety of bad future tracks, but is has massively fallen now.
JPN: 2
USA: 3
Looks like the US version has the upper hand.

Yeah That's My Opinion Too I Love Palmtree Panic JP More Than US
This is definetly biased!
I'll try to continue what I started under your previous video.
For now, the situation is this:
JP 1 - US 1
Palmtree Panic Present: the JP one is surely joyful, but honestly I find it more fitting for a ten years brazilian boy's birthday party than the level.
JP 1 - US 2
Palmtree Panic Good Future: the JP version is not half bad, but overall it's just a slightly better version of the present theme and, as such, it has the same problem. The US one is peaceful and it really gives that tropical vibe that the level needs. This round goes to the US version too.
JP 1 - US 3
Palmtree Panic Bad Future: that one is really difficult.
JP 2 - US 3
On the US Good Future of Palmtree Panic this is what is missing in the collection
6:34 - 7:04
Although I liked the Japanese version of palmtree panic present . I like the us version better because it fits the theme of the level
The kids in the background in the bad future is saying yay for being a robot
Bad future JP has a couple cues that make me really uncomfortable, like the yeah at the beginning is done by robotnik, and the animal yeah in the other time zones repeats itself like someone recorded it and is playing it over and over again, it feels artificial. That along with the part where its off key and tries to fit a part from the other timeline in is just emanating a ‘this is better than the good future, so theres no need to be afraid… right?’ feel like robotnik is trying to make it so that torture feels like what theyre used to
The Versions That I Like:
Animation Intro: North American
Intro Title: Japanese
Palmtree Panic Zone: North American
Bad Future: Japanese
the us version doesnt deserve the hate it gets and thats why i choose it over the japanese theme just my opinion
