It has a 500 hp V8 but they call it environmentally friendly? Excuse me? It's a supercar, there's nothing friendly about it. Having a quarter of your horsepower coming from an electric engine that can run about 10 miles doesn't make a car fuel efficient lol.

HAHA it's true, I can see from the styleing that indeed BMW is copying the VOLT in more ways then just the drivetrain alone, the steering wheel for example is almost the same, the hood design is ripped directly out of my Volt dash design.....LOL what a JOKE, we win, Germans have to bow down and copy us!!! out of all the porsches,the 918 spyder and the carrera S 2012 are my fave cars. They're the only cars that dont look like every other 911 that they have made.

The reason the 911 is pronounced nine eleven is because nine one one is what americans dial if they are being killed. With all other Porsches each number is pronounced individually, 944, 959, 924, 914...on and on
I thought the 918 Spyder was just going to be concept that will never see the light of day. Good to know that it's actually going into production! It'll be one of the most exclusive Porsches since the Carrara GT.

I'm talking about most AMBITIOUS car. Back at the day when VW bought Bugatti and said that they're going to make a car with a 1000+HP and 400+km/h everybody thought they were mad.
The i8 is not impressive at all. only 30 miles? and really slow. To top it with looking weird.

I think this BMW is not really an eye catcher because it doesn't have outstanding performance at all and obviously not the best fuel economy compared to say the tesla model s. And you know this BMW is going to be pretty darn expensive and if im gonna spend some serious cash on a car I either want serious ferrari like performance or great fuel efficiency, not just "shades" of both. Now if a car had performance and awesome fuel effeciency then it will catch my eye
no i cant agree with you there bmw have always priced their vehicles above that of upper mid class, to be honest i would never bother buying a bmw anyway, the cost to repair such a vehicle in australia, and the overall look and drive of their cars, if i had that kind of money id get a car much more suited to my tastes, like a 69 camaro, or 70 charger, you know a real driving machine.
i think BMW is trying to hard to make something to advanced to quickly, Porsche have it right not going much for looks but for internals, BMW try to hard to make it look like something out of the Jetsons. although the concept is good the product from BMW is actually kind of disappointing, realistically they should be working on something regular people will be ABLE to afford that looks good and doesn't look like a prius, or wannabe transformer. and has room for the shopping.
Sure. Most BMW's are luxury cars, so for the price, they are usually slower than other cars similarly priced and similarly sized. Largely because they weigh too much. They handle fairly well, which makes/made them good racers, but even the competition to the 918 that BMW is bringing out is slower by a hefty margin.
They are just status symbols.
My uncle had a $124,000 (US) M3 custom that he bought from one of his celebrity clients. 3 weeks later, he was driving a Porsche again (his 9th).
Sorry, when I see 'Porsche', I can't help but yawn. They've been releasing practically the same body style for the last forty years. A classic maybe, but I won't mind something fresh in the looks department. And no, slapping on a new frontend or tucking the spoiler away is NOT a new body style. Not every Lamborghini released in the last 25 years had been pleasing to the eye, but they are at least try out new stuff. And frankly, I like my supercars having that stealth fighter style :)
- I would have that car in my garage in no time! Reason I don't like the engine is because there nothing you can seemingly do for forced induction tuning with the Boxer Engine it has and that you'd need to engine swap for something that could, but really i'm not really in a caring mood for modding cars anymore so doesn't matter. Back to the topic now... I hope for my country's sake that they change their shit up and not be lazy or wait until 2016. If they do then it's simply game over.
Exactly... brainwashing the masses who don't know jackshit about cars. It may work now but it will fail soon trust me, no one will buy the same damn chassis and engine forever and they will soon be forced to make entirely new and competitive vehicles or simply just crash and burn or end up in the hands of a foreign car company just like Dodge ended up! Also the new 86 is a wonderful looking and is something I would definitely get as a driver's car...problem is though is the engine but otherwise-

Yea the Ford Raptor is a nice looking truck but honestly, It STILL won't make that much of a difference. Damn straight it is, in fact the new Buicks, the pontiac G8s, and all of those other cars originated from Holdens, Vauxhalls, and Opels!! NOTHING NEW!! Hell the camaros even use the same engine from the vettes, and the Ford GT in 05-06 used an engine out of a Ford Lightning F150 with a supercharger and Dry Sump Oil Lubrication!! Not only that but the damn automakers aren't even trying to make any refinements to their cars, not until Dodge (who is now owned by Fiat/Ferrari) who is now making the Dart which is a lightweight sportscar unlike it's golden age predecesor is making plenty of refinements to their cars now! The Viper looks awesome, They are now making a lightweight sports car which for a long time is a first! Heck if being owned by Ferrari makes Dodge this good then shit... BUY GM STOCK PORSCHE!! Lol

Dodge and Chevy DO hype up and make claims about how they're cars can do this and that where as the Italian makers do focus on their next projects, and the thing is... Every single last one has alot of R&D and some kind of originality to it!! Chevy and Dodge kind makes the same stuff over and over and every american car company is in the dark ages!
Sum of its parts? I wouldn't buy a car for the sum of its parts either! I buy them for PERFORMANCE and Im guessing the new 918 > the new F70 and if thats the case then why would I pay more for a equal to or lesser performing vehicle?? THAT'S my point here man. Don't try to use price to shun me because I go by stats on paper > price tag. I would buy a GT2RS that over a POS GT-R R35 because its faster on the track NOT because of the sum of the parts!
I think you're right except for numbers below 910 and above 919. I've always heard and understood the 912, 914, and 917 to be said as "Nine-Twelve", "Nine-Fourteen", and "Nine-Seventeen". Just search any video on the 917 and you'll probably hear it pronounced "Nine-Seventeen". Also, go to Porsche's official channel and watch their videos on the 918. You'll find Americans and Germans saying "Nine-Eighteen" and British saying "Nine-One-Eight". So I guess both are officially correct.
Couldn't agree more Brayden. You could make a mailbox into a hybrid car but what would be the point? It would serve no purpose whatsoever. That is the RSR in a nutshell. I have to admit the flywheel kinetic drive system is a beautiful thing on paper, but on the track I'll state that it's not going to work. It's not even going to be slightly hot. It's going to have flat torque to the front wheels which will deliver unbelievably unpredictable handling, and boatloads of understeer.
You know, the reason why TopGear silent Stig to test cars is because racing drivers can't talk. So Tiff and Vicki are out of the competition. And Fifth Gear sucks a lot of ass anyways. And the others.. they are just regular youtube car presenters. They might use more sweet talk but essentially they're all the same. Jessi and Jeremy, however, bring excitment and fun to car reviewing. And JC adds a sparckle of insanity to this coctail that is why he is and always will be an icon of autojounalism.
That BMW is so pretty it's like they took JL and made her into a car! \=-) (ya it's corny but you can't hate a brotha from trying) Porsche... 0 - 60 in under 3 seconds on street tires? Kind of ambitious don't you think? One would think you'd spend more time spinning the tires trying to get there unless God himself came down and touched your traction control system. I'd like to see it happen though. Some one PLEASE take hybrids out of the "eehhh" category and make them fun to drive!
well its a concept only, have you been to auto shows? the end products look nothing like that or will be supercars.

Yeah U.S Carmakers with the Exception of Ford are going to shit! GM's so stuck up rebadging shit and not making new cars and doing R&D is pretty much going to bring them down eventually, it's happening right now....slowly but surely! I hate to say it but If the U.S. Automakers don't get there shit right.... they're going to hell in a hand basket within a matter of 5-10 years.
Haha and the reason why Chevys Dodge and Fords are cheap is because they are in the dark ages of cars. Chevy corvettes use OHV and Leaf springs, Mustangs use Live rear axles, and Dodge is stuck on 5 speed autos and Hemispherical engines. :/

I never go on about cars being cheaper, because the cheaper cars are pieces of shit! A Pagani Huayra is more sleek, cool, powerful, and is more PRACTICAL then any corvette I know! Pagani goes like 15-23mpg at like 700+hp while the vette with forced induction goes like 13-20 mpg. Cheaper is also weaker and anyone with a brain knows that.
Not only that but I pretty much stated that there are cars MUCH more expensive then cars but in my Country that I would much rather buy let alone buy a much more expensive car for it's awesomenesss versus something else! If you can't understand that then I don't think I should be contuning this chit chat with you...
I would buy the new Viper from Dodge over the new GT500 from Shelby. Guess how much these two cost? Gt500 65,000 USD Viper 100K-120K USD! Am I buying for the sum of parts? Nope I'm buying a real driver's car over some heavy ass supercharged muscle car bullshit. Sum of parts pit the GT500 over the Viper, I'm going for the privilege of owning an awesome car.
Hell no I wouldnt buy one :/ It's prolly gonna be as overpriced as the previous F60 imo and prolly not even as good as the GT2RS made by their rivals Porsche. Plus I've admired Porsche for the longest and in terms of who I side with on european cars you bet its porsche!! American = Chevy, European = Porsche, and Asian = Lexus. Thats not going to change.

The 918 Spyder is a game changer. I wonder if Porsche is exploring biofuel like bio-diesel or ethanol. That would make it the ultimate eco hybrid supercar. Still though, the 918 is my favorite Earth friendly supercar. By the way is Jessie hot but, smart as well. That's makes her hotter. Rock on Jessie. Cool show. Glad I subscribed.
I feel like they should up the performance of that car even more. Looking at it's competition (upcoming Enzo replacement, upcoming F1 replacement) are all going to be focusing in on hybrid technology. They are all going to have a lot more than 770 hp combined. I think Porsche can do better to step up the competition. Great episode by the way!.

Evades the whole point of a hybrid, I think its really really stupid. The idea of a hypercar is pure speed, not environmentally friendly econobox! And a hybrid is supposed to be nothing but fuel efficient!

Hybrid Cars are not SO EFFICIENT. Battery Cells destroys the environment, especially the acid, If cars in the future become hybrid, there is a large demand in electricity . Electricity comes from petrol. You know, more demand for electricity, more demand for gas. Its still the same though.
I believe in more fuel efficient cars, but lets think about this for a moment. Performance cars only make up a small portion of the total numbers of vehicles. There is no need for a hybrid "performance" car. More should be put into fuel cell and hybrid for regular cars.

it has 570hp and it is environmentally friendly cause in hybrid mode it can do about 80mpg and together the electric motors produce 250hp when your going about 100mph it uses only electric drive and the V8 is on only to charge the batteries.
spyder is another term for convertible. Traditionally, it was used to reference coupes that have have their tops cut off and usually have a cloth roof lining that had to be manually bolstered on. But nowadays the term is used widely.

55 ECU's? Is that normal in . . . any car? I've always thought cars just had one central ECU, does this one (and many other cars?) have a ton of ECU's that each handle a specific job?
The only car I don't like really is the Veyron... Its too big and heavy even with what It has and is not my kind of supercar, rather would have an Apollo from Gumpert.

the i8 needs thicker tires at the back. it looks to skinny without them. i am sure the thin ones contribute to the fuel economy though
