  • The Supermarine Spitfire was a fighter aircraft that saw service with the RAF during the Second World War. In this video I complete a long-format build of the Airfix Supermarine Spitfire Mk.1a Plastic model kit in 1/72 scale.
    The version I have here (A68206) is from the Starter Set (or "gift set" as they are sometimes called) which comes with some small pots of paint, a brush and some cement. The perfect start for a beginner!
    The aim of this series is to give you the chance to quite literally "build with me" - so if you have this kit and want to give it a go, this is the perfect video for you!
    Alternatively, if you are a beginner, there are lots of helpful, simple and easy techniques that can be found in this series - so definitely worth a watch!
    In this Supercut episode - all the episodes are re-edited into one convenient place to view the entire series! Perfect for building the model in one session, or for putting on in the background.

    Fair play for soldiering on with this. Those paints look like a nightmare to work with. Airfix/Humbrol possibly need to have another look at the new paints. Having to add a number of layers of paint just to achieve a less than ok finish doesn't exactly feel like it'd make a noob want to have a go at a 2nd kit.

      I have heard that since this product was manufactured, they have done some work to improve the ones included in sets

    Amazing explanations! Thank you, it's good to keep this on background while working on any scale model plane to be honest, since most of these principles can be applied to any scale model work. I would love to see you make one 'masterclass' supercut for airbrushing techniques, would love to see your input on those!

      Glad it was helpful! I could look into some videos on airbrushing at some point in the future

    Thank you for the video, I haven't done any modelling yet, but I watched everything thoroughly to get a rough idea on what scale modelling process is.
    On a side note, I'm not satisfied with the paint included with the set. I'd really like my model having more realistic look instead of that. Pretty sure I would be kinda bummed out if my first model turn out like this.

      100% - the paint included is not the best modelling paint in the world, and the colours are a little off. I would recommend Vallejo, Tamiya or Hataka paints (all of which can be hand painted - but the Tamiya ones need a little extra care due to their alcohol base)

      @ModelMinutes Going to send a picture once it's done to your facebook page. Waiting for the Tamiya rubber tire paint you mentioned. Will donate but need to google the Patrion thing.

      @@davidspiegler6896Thanks very much! I dont always see things that are on Facebook because the notifications there are a bit weird, but feel free to post images on my page - alternatively joining my Discord server is a good place to post these images.
      The link to patreon is in the video description if you would like to support me there for a monthly donation, alternatively if you would prefer a one-off tip you could do so either on Ko-Fi or through paypal - again links in description.
      Thanks so much for the support and I hope that you find my videos helpful :)

    Can i use stationary art arcrylic paint for scale models?i mean school arcrylic paint.

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  Месяц назад

      I tried that in one of my challenge video, it didn’t go so well. Art acrylics are designed for paper whilst modelling acrylics are made for plastic, the art ones are too thin
