    This thing feels SO good in the hand! Loving this build after using it with the Cream Sodas and DCX Dolch for a couple days. What feedback do you have for Tacworks? Let us know in the comments!

    well informed review! how do you like the dcx keycaps overall in terms of legending and sound? how does it differ from gmk specifically?

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад +1

      Welcome and thanks! I actually ended up really liking the DCX after a couple of days. They give that clacky ABS sound that you get from GMK. Im not really one that concerns themselves with legending so I don't really have much to comment on that. From the perspective of someone who just wants a nice aesthetic and sound they're pretty nice after you get used to the smoothness.

    Hey, what kits u reccomend for 200 with this i mean all the switches keycaps and necessities need to start. id like at the end like a mid pitched and deeper sounding board

      Really depends on what you're looking for in a board. The best thing you can do is join my Discord or any keeb community (Reddit, Discord, etc) and ask there. This is usually a question that will require a more lengthy conversation to answer accurately for your personal wants and needs.

    I still can't get over that raised lip on the top case 🤨

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      I kinda like it. Adds to the retro aesthetic somehow. I think if they were going for something more trendy they should have made it more flush with the top, though.

    • @Gokving

      @@punkshoo I think it would've been nicer if they offered multiple color options for that raised part. Similar to how the Zoo65 had the white option for their top case piece. If nothing else, it'd add a bit of function to having it be a separate thing so people can further customize the aesthetics

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      That's a great point. That would have really added another level of customization to it as well which might actually justify the price.

    How do the keycaps compare to their GMK Modern Dolch counterpart? I've been debating whether to pick these up for myself.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      I think they are a good quality available alternative. You're obviously lacking some kitting options, color clarity, and getting a smoother feel but for $99 or less its a solid pickup.

      @@punkshoo have you tried out Kinetic Lab’s Whale keycaps? If so, how does DCX Dolch compare to them?

      I have not tried any Polycaps products, sadly

    • @JesusXina
      @JesusXina Год назад +1

      @@punkshoo I've personally tried the whale keycaps myself and felt that the legends were way too muddy/muted compared to other budget keycaps I've owned. I might have to bite the bullet and buy myself DCX Dolch one day to really see how it is for myself.

    Is gas67 with alume case, same pcb , you just pay for case lmao so many Dallars.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      Not even remotely accurate. That's like saying a NextTime75 is the same as an Akko Mod 007 v2. A massive stretch.

      @@punkshoo i.mean PCB is 100% is gas67 with tumbler LOL I have this board) better for that money buy tofu 65 v
      2.0. Better case and 3 types of mount. is coming in April.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      Right, there are other boards that offer better features for price. That was discussed in the video. That was not your initial statement, though. Having a PCB that lacks certain features doesn't just make this a "GAS67 with an aluminum case". What you're saying now just simply means you value certain features in a given price point over what the T3 offers, and that's okay. The Singa Unikorn, a tray mounted 60% slab of aluminum, exists and costs more than the T3 but many in the community will still purchase the board because of what it is, a Singa Unikorn. One could argue that you could just get a Tofu 60 for 1/4 the price and its the same board by your logic. Its not.

    KPrepublic has asked for feedback on this board. I'm enjoying the heck out of it with these DCX Dolch and Cream Sodas after driving it for a couple days. What, if any, would be your feedback for KPrepublic and Tacworks for future projects and version updates? Let me know in the comments!

  • @Peter-mq8ct
    @Peter-mq8ct Год назад +1

    I don't have feedback that's very specific to the board; more so an overall look at why I wouldn't buy the board.
    If I want a good board to use, boards like the zoom tkl or qk boards. Those boards are of great build quality, and can really be built to satisfy someone who knows what they want and how to build it. At the price tag of 400, I'm looking for more novelty qualities. Like you said, if I really wanted something retro, a case just like this, then yeah, I'd get this.
    But, for me, I wouldn't. This board isn't unique enough for me to spend 400 when boards like the qk65, bakeneko, and plethora of other lower cost boards are sitting on my shelf. What I'm thinking of when looking at going beyond 200 are really unique designs things like the ripple tkl, Freja65, han60, etc. The case isn't more attractive and unique to boards of the same price, and even less. This isn't even going over the screws, multiple pieces, cables, north facing pcb, etc.
    However, I do like this board. But at the price of 400? I have my eyes on other things.
    Okay, that long wind aside, great video punkshoo. What's nice about your videos is that you give a lot of holistic and detailed insights into boards, even going beyond the actual keyboard. If I had to think about some way to improve, I think it'd be nice to break down the build thoughts into more chapters. It'd be like when I watch recordings of my lectures, there's a list on the side that has the topic that my professor lectures on. It primes my head for what I'm listening to before I listen. Imagine listening to a ted talk with no title and no introductions. I hope that kinda makes sense.
    All that said, again, keep posting content! I hope you enjoy creating as much as I enjoy listening.

      Thanks for the compliments, feedback, and insights. I will definitely consider making adjustments to chapters. Considering your insights on some of those boards mentioned above, what would you say an attractive price point would be for this board? I am almost certain much of the cost comes from the overengineering of the case and all small pieces in addition to multiple machined case parts. I can tell you without a doubt that this thing feels far better in the hand than my Zoom65 did and, while its about as "quality feeling", the QK65 comes in a bit basic compared to the looks of this board. I 100% agree with the uniqueness of the other boards mentioned. I could see this board doing very well at around $250-300.

    • @Peter-mq8ct
      @Peter-mq8ct Год назад

      @@punkshoo I think I'd feel much better around 300, between the freja and ripple. Now that I took a second look, it looks more attractive. I feel like the market is too competitive to ask for 400+ from the audience it's looking at. At 275, I think you'd be getting a good deal, and a unique board. To warrant another 100 bucks, it'd have to have another novelty to it, like a solenoid. Now that I think about it, the class 80 is actually lower cost than this, and hits a similar niche of being retro.
