    The A350-900ULR is a range beast. Next, we want to know which private jets fly the longest too. Just for fun.

      but it reduces the cargo loads,,means passengers carry less luggage

      With the exception of custom built widebody private jets, it's the Bombardier Global Express 8000 with 8000 nmi

      The ULR is basically just some software tweaks and greatly reduced capacity with only business and premium economy seating and less cargo capacity.

    The A340-500 is quite impressive! Considering it's a quad jet and old already. If Airbus updated those engines and aerodynamics, its range will even be greater. ✈️

      They did. They also got rid of two engines and called it A350-900ULR.

    I had the privilege of flying on Thai Airways A340-500 non-stop from BKK to JFK approximately 14yrs ago. 18hrs from takeoff to landing. It was a wonderful aircraft and I was sad to see them go away. A350 is a great plane, but having 4 engines was so much more reassuring flying over the Pacific.

    What impresses me is before i thought small business jets like Gulfstreams, bombardiers and citations I thought those had a range like a medium haul not a range like ultra long haul flights and can fly higher than most airliners

    The 787-9 currently flies nonstop on the AKL-JFK route [14,231 km]; no turbo boosters needed (i.e. ER, LR, ULR, XLR).
    The A330-200 currently flies nonstop on the BNE-LAX route [11,546 km].

    The Gulfstream G-650ER and it’s new successor the G800 and the Bombardier Global 7,000 &7,500 are also capable of extremely long ranges! 😊

    with add on (optional) auxiliary fuel tanks in the aft lower fuselage section of the B777-300 ER it'll be able to fly 8,330 miles (15,355 kms) - 10,693 miles (18,344 kms) non-stop . . . same can be said about the A340-600 HGW & A340-500 HGW as well . . .

    You seem to make it an exception of the Airbus A350LR for trading payload against fuel. All aircrafts do the same trade-off, from the basic Cessna C-172 to all airliners in the history of aviation.

      You are correct that all planes face that tradeoff, but I think the tradeoff is more overt on the a350ULR because they didn't change the MTOW, whereas they did when you compare the 777-200ER to the 777-200LR, a340-300 to a340-500, 747-400 to 747-400ER, etc.

    The A350-900 ultra long don't carry a full load in term of passengers to do Singapore to New York non-stop.

    very impressive with the airbus range..with that being said..who would want to be in economy seat for at least 12-15 hours especially if the leg room isn't that decent depending on the airline of choice..we shall see what happens in the future with boeing, airbus and other mfr's..thank you for this informative video.

    What about Airbus A350-1000?

      The A350-1000 has a range of 16,100 km / 8,700 nautical miles 1,900 km / 1,025 nautical miles less than the A350-900ULR. The 1000 is longer and heavier than the 900ULR, which may be reason why it has a shorter range.

      @@chillout1109It strangely among stretches has bigger range now with the upped MTOW compared to the regular -900. As far as I’m aware it was only previously seen with the 777-200 to -300 (non ER’s) but largely because the -300 used the fuel tank from the -200ER

    I am surprised the A350s being developed for Qantas' project sunrise didn't get a mention here. It's only going to be a landmark in engineering feat if it's made possible in the next couple of years.

    The A350-900 ULR of Singapore airlines has only business class and premium economy class seats onboard which makes its passenger capacity less than a normal A350 with 2 class configuration this reduces the number of passengers and their luggage, which is substituted by the extra fuel tank on board the aircraft

    Singapore airlines A350-900ULRs are all business and premium economy right? As such they have a less dense configuration BUT I think it is a fair comparison since they are in regular commercial operation and you can most certainly book a regular ticket on them.

      It’s actually just a regular one with an upped MTOW with a somewhat bigger fuel tank as very little is actually to be changed from the one everyone else gets

      Airlines didn't seem to think so. Very few sold, those few fairly quickly went out of service. Proved to be a very inefficient aircraft and a fuel hog.

    Interestingly, despite the standard A350-900 has a further range than 787-9, the longest commercial flights that stand behind Singapore Airlines' A350-900ULRs are actually held by Boeing 787-9s (Qantas' Perth to London flight, Melbourne to Dallas, and Air NZ's Auckland to New York, followed by Emirates' A380, then there are standard A350-900s)

      There's rumor that Airbus tend to over-claim their aircraft ranges. A340-500 had shorter range than B777-200LR in practice and burns more fuel/passenger-mile. Not sure if it's the same about A350 vs B787.

    The A350 in my opinion, is truly a great long haul plane. While the 787 is good but I perfer the a350. I haven’t flown in one, but I hope too soon. Anyways, great video simple flying!
