These movies have a sentimental value to me as I am 59 yrs old and can remember watching these on tv regularly back in the early 70's, TV was fun then with lots of great shows, not like now. What surprises me is when youngsters like yourself can also enjoy these old movies, most your age are just into the new crap. I already have the Criterion Godzilla set so I just may pick this one (Showa era) up as well.
Yeah man. Without the older stuff you wouldn't have the new stuff. There's a beautiful charm to these earlier monster movies. I'm a huge Godzilla fan and still need to get that Criterion Godzilla set! Thanks for Watching 😀✌
I just turned 40 and caught the tail end of TV being fun to watch. Discovered Gamera through MST3K when I was little and loved him more than Godzilla for a time. Can't wait to get these and watch them unbutchered.
I usually swap them for regular amaray cases but obviously the artwork is printed on small paper. However it does allow them to look better on a shelf.
@@maxrodriguez6797 they do but it’s just the showa era. Arrow has showa and heisei era collections for gamera so it’s not exactly the same. Still very cool though
As i am right now only on special Releases of Kaiju Movies, since i have everyone i want at least in any one way. This definitly has my interest. But as i was more on the Monsterverse Stuff the last month, my budget for these is pretty limited right now...
Just got the showa era box set today. Haven't checked out the actual films yet but my god did Arrow do a great job on the presentation and packaging. I missed out on the Deluxe set when it came but super glad they released the smaller box sets.
Great unboxings/overview on all of the releases, mate! The Limited Edition is one of my most prized possessions, I read through the book which came with it and it informed me of a lot, I don’t know if there’s another Arrow release which tops it for me! It definitely is a pain in the arse to have in the collection... Even though I’m happy with my Limited set for now, these standard releases still look brilliant and I love the newly commissioned artwork for the films too! I only have done left to check out which is Gamera the Brave, will have to give that a watch soon. Out of the Showa era, the only one I didn’t like was Super Monster as it’s a massive cash grab but the other films there are a ton of fun. Be sure to watch the introductions on each film, although some have spoilers (it will warn you in advance) as they give you a lot of history and backstory to the development! The Heisei trilogy is utterly fantastic, I grew up with Guardian of the Universe and wow... I had a PS2 DVD with a techno score that Arrow included, which brought back nostalgia for me! I’d never seen the other two until I picked the set up and they’re just as excellent but I’ll always have a fondness for the original. Arrow have knocked it out of the park here with these releases. I’ve got to be honest, my favourite poster is for Revenge of Iris but am I the only one I’m thinking it’s absolutely terrifying? If I saw that as a kid, I would have shat myself I swear 😂 Gamera screaming with white eyes is my sleep paralysis demon 😭 Brilliant video Jason, keep up the great videos! I can’t wait to return to making videos, I’ll have to talk about Gamera sometime.
Thanks for taking the time to write this long comment, really do appreciate it my friend. Yeah the Gamera trilogy is absolute fire! I need to get around to watching a lot of the showa era films at some point lol Thanks for the support as always my dude!
Great unboxing Jason 🤟🤟 I'm getting this as soon as I get paid... if it sells out before that I'll go renegade I tells ya 🤯😖🤣 love the boxes for them 👍👍 love how they go together 🤩🤩 haha yeah IM AFTER THIS 😊😊😊 thanks for this unboxing and run through the sets mate 🤩🤩👍👍
Oh man I'm so torn on these. Love the look of the set, but I'm mainly a fan of the Heisei era and I already own those on a bare bones region A set. Any idea how the print quality of those compares?
I'm unfamiliar with that region A set so its difficult to give you the comparable information. I've watched the heiseu trilogy and the transfers are beautiful.
Great review of these sets mate, just found your channel while looking for a review of these releases and will go back and check out your other videos, new sub here. 👍
Amazon UK has a few collector's editions in stock a couple of days ago. But they were £100 more than their release price. Always worth checking there if you ok paying the asking price. Thanks for watching :)
Been trying to figure this out: on amazon and on Zavvi it says "High Definition (1080p) transfers of all four films on Blu-ray, including 4K restorations of the Heisei Trilogy by Kadokawa Pictures" but these are not in 4K? what do they mean by this if it is not in 4k?

You're not alone, man. I'd have EVERYTHING in 14mm cases if I could.

I kinda like the arrow Blu-ray cases. They make me feel like I’m getting something special instead of just a standard blue case.
I seem to have stumbled across a video showcasing a product I already own. Guess I’ll watch it anyway. Cheers my dude.
Thanks for showing these in such detail. I’ve never seen a Gamera movie but have ordered these and can’t wait to check them out. Great video 👍👍
My god wouldn’t it be great if they did the big boxset of Godzilla like this set -
Criterion Collection has one!
@@maxrodriguez6797 yeh I meant like these boxset not the massive book type

I first bought these.
Love them.
But everytime i think about it, i want the complete Collection even more...
Its a great set. If you can get it for a decent price I'd say go for it 😃👍

Never heard of Gamera Arrow but this vid is great! Just subbed to the channel!

That’s one cool set Jason. Amazing video.😀👍

I wish I would've got the collectors edition box set, Amazon canceled my preorder at the time sadly so ill have to settle for these ones

This means that the prints they have sourced for this set are 4K scans downscaled to 1080p
@@jasonbrettyt I wish they would just give us the 4k versions :/
hi just joined. are you getting beyond re animator on arrow se out monday
Thanks so much. I probably won't be to be honest. Sorry my dude.
