Really didn't think I was gonna like your review style when I first clicked but you know what this was brilliant, really reviewed with a passion that's rarely seen and great to watch. I too grew up with these movies, manged to get them all recorded on VHS and together with my best mate(no longer with us sadly) we used to have Godzilla nights which were always hilarious. Good times and i'm looking forward to reliving the memories.
I grew up watching these over and over, These videos you make are so full of passion, nostalgia and interesting facts and explanations, excellent quality content every time.🙌✌️🖖
Loved the video, specially the background infos and the old tv setup with some scenes of every single movie 🎥 ! Keep up the great work and i hope you make more Japan videos in the future! 🤖
Godzilla vs Megalon was my Showa era movie too. First Godzilla V/H/S my parents ever bought me. Jett Jaguar on the back really stood out to me. It’s one of the Godzilla movies Ive seen the most times along with The Original, Final Wars and Shin Godzilla.
Agreed, these Showa films are the best Godzilla films!! I'm also from the UK and have been importing region 1, 3 and 4 DVD's to watch these films, it's so great to finally have a proper region 2 blu ray releases of these great films.
I missed out on this set when it was super cheap (in perspective), since I already owned most of the movies from the Showa series that I liked. But after I saw how awesome this set was, I definitely regretted not grabbing it. I won't make the same mistake with the amazing Gamera blu-ray set that Arrow Entertainment is putting out this year! Great review dude!!
Wicked ! This review was excellent ! Grade A !! What was the the quality of the films on Blu-ray? Did you get any skips or playback issues? I'm thinking of purchasing this collection myself ! I remember so many of these movies from when I was a kid !
So with the release of Godzilla vs Kong Kong later this year I’ve been really getting into the big G. I’ve gone through the two newer American movies and love them both. Just watched Shin Godzilla also. Such a fascinating series. I saw this collection on Amazon and was wondering which are the definitive versions of the movies to get, since there seem to be JP/US edits. As I understand copyright is complicated, but this seems like an excellent place to start discovering the classics. Nice review man thanks
I'm unsure whether any of them besides the 1954 film received an American remake (it's easy to check, but I'm short on time right now), but lots obviously had English language dubs. You should always watch foreign films in their original audio imho, but that's up to the individual. Anyways, to the best of my knowledge, not all the English dubs are included in this Criterion set, unlike the excellent Gamera box Arrow released. That might be to do with rights issues, but Toho have a reputation for being a bit 'difficult' at times. Regardless of that, this set is I think the only one that contains all the Showa era Godzilla movies.
I'm gonna have to watch some Godzilla films. I've just realised that the closest I've gotten to watching one was seeing those Chewits ads in the eighties.
dragoncats I never watched any because I’ve wanted to watch all toho films in their chronological cinematic universe order, but never found a list of the correct order.
Awesome video :) hope they do the rest of them in the uk. Sadly one of my pages was bent and couldn’t get replacement as sold out everywhere but did get £38 refund
Thanks for watching I am glad you enjoyed, for what it is worth mine also had a scratch across the front cover on a closer inspection and I messaged HMV to tell them and they offered me a measly £10 refund!
Apart from the intro, it's all Occam's Laser on everything I do dude, he's got insta/youtube/sound loud all that, thanks for watching glad you dig the tunes!
Great video man love the Godzilla franchise I got mine from zoom anyway just in case you where wondering the gamera blue rays are region 0 and the original mothra movie on blue ray is region 0 too and Godzilla 1984/ return of Godzilla released by kraken releasing is as well
Just to add to your list, theres a reigon free blu ray of Godzilla vs Biollante and a german release of Godzilla vs Destoroyah on region B that has the english dub track. There maybe more, but those are the ones I know of. I hope we get a release of Rodan and the other none-Godzilla Showa films. I know Space Amoeba is on Amazon Prime Video as well.
I love the Godzilla movies and imported I'm from the Uk also and our HMV was rubbish so I ended up just importing the region 4 boxsets if the price wasn't so high I would of prob ended up buying the Bluray collection just because of how awesome that book looks and how great the artwork is
It's a shame it is such a problem to get them over here, we still need Varan, War Of The Gargantuas, Frankenstein vs baragon, Rodan, Mothra and all the other soon offs to complete the set
@@slimehousetv yeah it is a shame that most of the kaiju movies will never get imported overseas with king of the monsters hitting being well-liked and the upcoming Godzilla vs king kong remake coming out I hope that we see a lot more kaiju movies getting remade
Tu my friend!!! Boy do they get tuff to get out when you leave them there for months....I guess I'm glad I bought although I had every G movie in Blu ray ( even kk vs g 62) by 2017. I like the Japanese versions although I really love the g vs gigan w a certain dub etc. I found this site online in 2016 that had all the Shows g movies and other era movies like Rodan etc in Blu ray!!! With English subs added!!! These were THEE Japanese versions only and the person running the site I guess knew someone who knew and spoke fluent Japanese and just added it to the movies. Cuz as I'm sure u remember back then there were quite a few g showa era movies not " commercially" available in Blu-ray. Plus when I tell u the extras on these Japanese versions movies were amazing and plentiful I mean it !!!! WOW... unfortunately not English subbed tho ( the extras) I bought the Criterion a few years ago not needing any movie in Blu ray...didn't need kk vs g 62... already had it. You know what really sucks is on the site I'm talking about they have some 4k uhd g movies from shows but if I buy a physical 4k Blu ray player it won't be compatible w my 2019 4k tv b cuz the HDMI ports one has to be HDCP so you can't pirate the movie...I'm not buying a brand new 4k tv just for that!!!!!
man i just stumbled upon your channel bro, keep it up love the editing work you put into everything, hella dope!
Very kind thank you dude 🙌

....and f*cking agree about watching movies!! People that swipe through their phone during a movie pisses me off more than almost anything else.

Great time to be alive, we just need all the shows spin offs and prequals now
Awesome review. Now get the new Gamera blue ray collection
Great review and introduction to the the saga. Nice retro setup too for the clips. Did I see a Jaws VHS in those shots?
Someone give this man the bag.
We need more content/videos from this guy 👊
What bag??? Haha thanks for watching!
@@slimehousetv the bag of cash man.

Love the unadulterated enthusiasm for the franchise even for the movies most would spend time doing nothing but criticizing
Ahh, appreciate those kind words right there!
When taxes come I’m grabbing this!

That is not correct King Kong escapes is not sequel to King Kong vs Godzilla
