Wiggling the wiper arms off worked well. Still have to be cairfull. Just pulling straight up or trying to wedge / pry them off did not work well for me. Hope this helps. 🙂

Thank you man, excellent tutorial...i would only add 1 thing,a warning, people that will do this must know how incredible hard is to remove the wiper arms...specially the 1 in the center, actually nearly impossible.

Good call and you are welcome.
Have to be careful. What worked well for me was to do a controled wiggel pull up. When I tryed to pull up or wedge / pry them off I did not have much luck.
      Have a great one. 🙂

Pull up near the knuckle and then press down on the knuckle. Easy way to remove all wiper arms. Sometime a wiper puller is needed to prevent breakage.

show me one wiper puller which works with e46. I have three of them and not a single one can fit on those wiper arms.@@kovacfam1355

After some rainy days I had Battery lamp ,oil lamp active and display didn't show anything ( fuel consumption, autonomy, etc. ) . Next day I did some diagnostics and had about ~15 active DTC's ( lot of them related to short open circuit) . After some days, display showed something but didn't respond to any inputs. After 1-2 sunny days, display respond again to inputs, battery and oil lamp were off. Then I realized one my ECU or some wires got affected because of the rain. The water got inside my car because of the bad cowl :) Thx for the tutorial

My wiper arms would not come off by shaking the arm nor by tapping with a screw driver and mallet as recommended elsewhere. Had to delay the job until I got a decent wiper arm puller. These are not expensive and hassle free and it worked great. Also, the wiper position is 24 mm from the tip to the cowl seal for the right (passenger side) wiper and 44 mm for the left (drivers side) wiper. Cleaning out the dirt after removing the old cowl was the biggest part of the job. While at cleaning, you may as well remove the flexible shields just below the ends of the windshield and get the dirt out from under there as well.

      Great Advice!
Thanks for commenting. If my wiper arms do not easly come off in the future I will just get the puller tool too. Thanks for adding spacing measurments. 🙂

Didn't know this was a thing until replacing my windshield resulted in this unpleasant result. I'm waiting for the part and appreciate the dress rehearsal your video provides. Did yours have a cowl retaining nut on the wiper stem? Very nice, clear video, increased my comfort level with this swap.

      Hey Kenskilla,
I did previously remove an extra piece "wind spoiler?" on the drivers wipper bar or stem. The new wiper blades did not fit and I did not mind the cleaner look. I think there was an extra bolt to remove.
I am happy this video was helpful! 😊

Hi Jonathan. Great video! I see the SMG pump has been moved. Did you do that yourself or have a shop do it?

      Thanks Ravi,
I used Chemical Guys VRP dressing, I like it.

I have not yet tryed it but I heard this product works even better.

There are also other new ceramic sealants that work great on rubber and plastic that might be worth a try.
      Hope this helps. 🙂
