This is the most memorable race of my life. My team ran some relays that weekend and I ran a slow 5k, but all that was secondary to the anticipation surrounding this. That race was so hyped. The 2 mile is my favorite race in high school and you rarely get to see it really being run at an elite level. And this was set up and played out to be an absolute elite slug fest. After watching Jager run the mile, it just felt like he was going to be back with a vengeance. No one around us in the stands thought that Forys would be dethroned.... But I remember thinking early on idk, I heard a lot about this Centrowitz kid and he's running awfully relaxed. Such a wild race though. Great and gutsy moves made in the middle and then that final 700 meters was nuts. Like it wasn't some pedestrian race that finished sub 2....This was the real deal with a wild kick. To this day it's the most exciting and awe inspiring race I've ever watched. Thanks for making that magic happen all those years ago. Was sweet seeing this as the first one chosen in the series. Definitely for good reason. Look forward to more and thanks for being a continuing inspiration for what long term dedication to the craft can do for all us 07 grads.
That Centrowitz stride....I would hate racing against the guy. Not only because he's an incredible runner, but the fact that he can look that relaxed while running you down with ease. Guy in first is pushing like crazy and you can see it all over his body, while Matt just looks like he's out for a jog while striding by you, running a sub 60 on the last lap.
Keep running seriously kid. I decided to start “seriously” running my senior year after my junior year of running 10:22 and 4:51 and i would never run at all then until it was time to race. So my senior year i took it serious and ran cross country for the first time and then ran 9:45 and 4:31 in track. Now i run in college and run 9:45 for practice in a 2 miler.... keep up the grind kid bc u never know where running can take u. Felt like u needed to hear someone with a similar story
A lot of people think the Rio gold race was rigged. It’s very suspicious to me and not out of the rhelm of possibilities by all means. I watched it many times and the best kickers in the world held back.
Mark A. Meyers it’s not like Centrowitz was some scrub going into that final. He was a silver and bronze medalist in the 1500m at the world championships, and finished 4th at the previous olympics. No reason he couldn’t have won in a tactical race like what it was.
This comment doesn't really deserve a response but... when put your self in perfect position and run 50. for the last lap... no one is going to out kick you
“This was before everyone and their mom broke 9...” -Centro 😂😂😂
Emma Haley ikr like holy shit these standards are so high
"The only place we could go after was Hooters..." *video fades out* lmaooo
HAHAHAHA
I love how Matt and Evan didn’t even mention their Olympic medals
cos they know it was cheating? (NOP - check out "win at all costs")

1:08 Elliot chooses a picture of himself beating matt... by pure coincidence, of course
I would honestly say the HS class of 2020 is to the same level but unfortunately no one will likely get to race at all so we won't get seen
Bold of you to assume that Nico wouldn't just smoke everyone in the first 800 if all these meets hadn't been cancelled
The 3200 was stacked this year 👀
Nico properly would be in 8:30's for the 3200 with his sub 8 3k indoors but we don't get a chance to see that this year :(

Well this was unexpectedly entertaining...considering I know nothing about running. Nice job.
This was great, guys! Definitely do more of these!
Class of 07 baby!! Awesome stuff boys, keep it coming.
The announcer that “hyped up” evan jager was the counselor at my high school 😂
This was such a cool video can't wait for you guys to do more
The Reebok kit was fire af still team Nike though
“The only place I could go was hooters” mhm
Love this!
I live in nc and I’ve always want to go watch the races
The race starts at 8:40
@@thegoat1099 Lol, glad you recognize me. You should probably subscribe now😂
@@aidan7376 I wanted to subscribe but I saw I was already
feels bad for seniors this year, and maybe... for juniors if the virus continues
I've heard this theme on the GrandLineReview
You can recognize Yager lol
Was this filmed with a 1st gen iphone?
My 2mile time is 10:40 and my mile time is 4:59 was hoping to pr this spring track season, started seriously running 1year ago

conspiracy theory much? You are on crack bro. Elite miles *never* go sub-50 for the last lap. They weren't holding back...
Peter Armstrong no, just my opinion like a lot of others. I appreciate your opinion. No crack, but thanks, keep it for yourself.
