Trapp Family Singers brought me here.. I'm really proud of her because she managed to accept and take care all of Georg's Trapp children. She is really strong and have strong faith in God. Wish I can hug her now..
this is so amazing to see the real maria after watching the sound of music years ago but seeing real maria for the first time. i really love her and rest in peace to her🕊❤️
I love love Julie Andrews & the SOM! It may be a deviation from the real storyline but it was & still is the best of the best ever! It has stood the test of time regardless made classic by super beautiful cast
They are two separate entities (or three). The musical has gorgeous melodies (and some good lyrics, though I fear not all [Schnitzel with noodles?]), and the film is made towards the end of the golden age for film - it has the music by full and good orchestra, is shot in Todd-AO, _very_ well produced, and excellent cast (not least JA - young and very pretty, and of course one of the best singers), lovely scenery, Nazis .. how could it fail! (Actually, a little saccharine for UK audiences, but still popular here.). Sure, the musical and film take some liberties with the facts (not least with geography - if you go up into the mountains from Wien/Vienna you _don't_ get to Switzerland; look at a map!). The underlying story itself is fascinating in a different way.
Yes, except the SoM is a total ripoff of the German original of 1956 - Die Familie von Trapp. Hollywood copied literally everything, originally adding, of course, gorgeous music, sharpening the contrasts and shooting magnificent scenery.
I'm very amazed by this family, especially the personality of Maria Van Trapp looks very impressive. I wish if the TV made many interviewing with her and all of the family.
we were on vacation and my dad pulled into her driveway and began to film her...this is the summer after the movie came out....and she was not pleased...i was embarrassed about the whole situation and felt bad for her...this was Stowe Vermont....nice to see her her so full of grace...The Sound of Music still inspires me and i will drop the remote now as a man of 65 and watch it...God Bless all those with courage and conviction !!!
I encountered her too around that time (1967 or so). I was 6 and w/my father...and could not fathom why she was not young and pretty like Julie Andrews. She was in native Austrian dress, gray-ish hair, braids in the gift shop of the Lodge in Stowe. ; )
@@Andy-ty2ni Well, I looked at this on RUclips because a few years ago I found a v.T. Christmas c.d., (the album they did in the early 50s)....and it's great. Further recollection of my Maria encounter was that my dad was speaking German to one of the workers in the gift shop, where my sister and I bought little wooden dolls....Maria appeared and started to chat with my dad....he (probably) gushed over the movie himself (plus he spent some time in Austria during WW2)....and I probably just gaped in disappointment 'cuz she wasn't singing My Favorite Things. The best movie/musical ever...Merry Christmas!

I hope your breast cancer is in remission by now or that you're going thru treatment. You definitely made a difference in children's lives by opening up their world to MUSIC! I remember when we had art and music classes in grade school and the difference it made. I've learned to appreciate and enjoy different types of music, the instruments that make the sounds, and the voices that sang the songs. You will always be remembered♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Facts: Liesl Fredrich Louisa Kurt Brigitta Marta and Gretl were all real people in 1943 and there really was a captain Von Trapp. The kids really did have uniforms but we don’t know if they really marched. We all know there really was a Maria who sadly died at age 99. U might ask, “are any of the real Von Trapps still alive today?” And the answer is no. All of them were dead by 2014. Well, MOST of them. Two of them are still alive today and there were actually 10 not 7 children and their names and ages were switched around.
So this the real Maria. The sound of music saved them. She was orphan who needed a family as an adult, too sassy to be a nun. In the moive it made it seem like she was in love with the captain right away but according to her she did not love him right away she feel in love with the kids first who needed a mom. So she was thrust in at age 21 to marry the captain and grew to love him and they had 3 kids together. Though the real story is not as sweet as moive made it out to be they had struggles.
I took a DNA Ancestry test, and i got my results which it says that I'm a 5th cousin with the Trapp family. So i would like to know how can i reach this family
Call the VonTrapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT and ask for Johann. He is the oldest son and may still run the lodge. They should be able to help you. Good luck and God bless!
It’s cool that she married the captain and became a second mom to the kids but it’s kind of a shame that the Mother Abbess basically manipulated her into it. 😑
Clearly the real Maria Von Trapp was the exact OPPOSITE of the fictional Maria Von Trapp. Sounds surprising. Does it? The comparison just blew my mind.

Reading one of her books now. So glad you posted this interview. Thank you.
Am I the only one who is surprised that these people are real???
After they left Austria, they became even bigger as a musical act. They also ended up with three more siblings who also performed in the group!
Yes.

Been to Salzburg? It’s beautiful!
Our school has assignments or works about this and I can't believe that she's such a beautiful lady!
A formidable lady by all accounts, especially her own. I read her autobiography and was astounded, not to mention entertained.

The volume of this video is almost nonexistent. I am glad that I have the caption setting on so that I can read what they say.
How precious-yet-strong this true story is!
Interveiwer: Maria, are you stubborn?
Maria Von Trapp: I'm afraid so.
Me: Well, then, Julie Andrews performed your role *PERFECTLY*.
Maria so beautiful, full of good to all people at all times
Sorry, full of punishments to the Kids.... Read her biography
Im so happy seeing Maria in her real life look, even in yt I'm still happy♡
