One of the best World Series ever
I couldn’t agree more!
watched it with my dad.
It is the best World Series ever the only won that comes close is 2001 Yankees Diamondbacks
Yes it is. 2001 was great as well. 1992 was good but didn't go 7. 1986 games 6 and 7 we're amazing.
@@LeoWhalen1933 2002 was underrated. 1993 was probably the best 6-game series.

And that little girl singing the anthem? Wow!
THANKS MIKE !!!
2:47:09 - No Tim, we won't be talking about "The Bat". You're trying too hard. Just enjoy the game.
Takes me back staying up late in 2nd grade to watch this team win the series
Un k 😊😊😊😊 0😊😊😊 p pk😊kpmk0pkk 0kppkk pkp 😊😊😊😊😊
I just want Minnesota sports to feel this again.
I was 5 when this happened. It's my first full sports related memory. My grandparents let me stay up late, as they realized at some point early on, something special was occurring. In the world of Bill Simmons, Jack Morris on this night is THE MAN you'd choose to pitch against the alien invaders
I will literally do or pay anything to see the Twins win a World Series in my lifetime
Good luck. Twins are a great fanbase, really wanted them to advance to the ALCS this year. Was in high school for the '87 series and was a junior in college for this game. This game was probably the greatest World Series game I've ever seen, and I've seen them all since Reggie Jackson's infamous 3-homer game 6 in '77.
I was born in 87
I got 91
I was at game 2 of this series. I guess for once I'm lucky to be as old as I am.
Interesting that they used to have on field lineup intros before Game 7. Pretty sure these days they just do this is game 1 and game 3 (first home game for other team)
Greatest World Series of my lifetime, capped by one of the greatest pitching performances I’ve seen. Can you imagine anyone pitching 10 innings anymore? No starting pitcher in this year’s World Series has gone past 6 innings!
On this day in 1991: Jack Morris tosses 10 shutout innings vs. the Atlanta Braves to lead the Minnesota Twins to a World Series title in an all-time classic Game 7 (October 27, 1991).
Jack Morris pitched a ten inning complete game shutout in a series clinching game. A Hall of Fame performance by any pitcher to ever play professional baseball.
Kelly wanted to take him out of the game in the 10th Morris was having none of that
Looked like he was going out for the 11th
Pirates manager Derrek Shelton would have pulled him in the 5th inning.
Christy Mathewson did that 3 times in the 1905 Series
@@crowtservo Wouldn't have been able to because the minute he started showed promise of being an ace he'd be traded.
Regarding the Lonnie Smith "blunder": He lost the ball in the outfield. If he fell for the decoy, why didn't he slide into second?
He hesitated which was enough. I don't believe he was convinced enough to slide but he slowed to pick up the ball and that's all it took.
Can we ritually sacrifice Joe Buck to bring back Jack Buck?
This comment deserves FAR more likes than it has recieved. Here, take mine!
Beautiful that this is free online
That double play in the bottom 9th by the Braves was so smooth: wow
Kirby Puckett was special. The blue-white hoops jersey a guy in the tunnel was wearing is beautiful. Remind me of vintage uniform of Queens Park Rangers. Mann... Just want to lay hands on it. 💙💙
Jack Morris strikeouts:
16:57 Morris K’s Gant
29:04 Morris K’s Hunter
1:02:58 Morris K’s Justice
1:26:25 Morris K’s Gant again
1:45:28 Morris K’s Olson
1:48:13 Morris K’s Belliard
2:22:41 Morris K’s Lemke
2:44:03 Morris K’s Smith
joe buck will never be better than his dad at commentating
Joe's better -- and much better paid -- than Jack. Jack and McCarver have zero chemistry. This game deserved much better.
Hot take!
How does it feel to be objectively wrong?
After Tim McCarver retired, I thought Joe's broadcasts improved a lot with a different color man.
Twins had a solid lineup. And a deep bench.
Es maravilloso cuando suben juegos completos, de campeonato y con todo y celebracion con su narracion original, vuela la mente tiempo atras y siente esa gran emocion, gracias por subir estos videos, bendiciones
This was JUST what MLB needed after sweeps in 89' and 90'
I mean, you talk about a true home-field advantage...we had it in the Metrodome. Dazzle knew that bloop single was going to take a big hop, and he never slowed down. No visiting player would ever have that kind of insight. The Metrodome might've been a dump, but it gave us wins.
Someday we’ll be back. Someday.
And you'll get STOMPED by my CUBS!!
One of the best Twins team because of Kirby Puckett because he was so good for the Twins and go Twinkie one of the best season and glad to see Patrick Mahomes father used to play for the Twins and Tom kelly one of the best managers and jack Morris pitches a no hitter because he has a great arm
Don't forget Dan Gladden.
Oh yeah sorry
Herbek cheated
@@heatherratliff1813 More of "helping" Ron Gant off the plate, using his own momentum against him, classic martial arts tactic.
@@aresmars2003 yeah right. 🙄

To date this remains Minnesota's last championship in any of the big 4 leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL).
Also the sickest championship anyone's ever won. I don't think I've seen better fans ever and the series was astronomical
I’ve been watching WS since 1966 and this was the greatest game I saw in a WS.
Growing up and still living in Minnesota I found the 1987 series better in many ways because it was the first. However, seven one run games and extra innings in the 7th game is also something else.
Who new that four days later the twin cities would have a record breaking snow storm that would dump 30 inches in 12 hours.
The Halloween blizzard. I was ten years old and went out trick or treating in NE Minneapolis.
5 of the 7 games went into EXTRA innings, and gane 7 went into the 10th--SCORELESS!
One of the GREATEST serie's EVER!
It may have been 30+ years since we’ve been in the WS. But damn we had 2 of the greatest game 7 wins in history
And 3 of the greatest Game 7's in history. We might have come out on the wrong end of the one in '65, but you can hardly complain when you lose 2-0 to Sandy Koufax at the tail end of his prime. Greatest player - one of the greatest men - to ever play the game of baseball.
@@katherineberger6329Koufax was overrated
@@Dezert_Fox I nominate you for Most Preposterous Statement Award
Hopefully MLB will continue to upload historic matches like this till the season start again.
The greatest pitching performance in World Series history! And I was lucky enough to have attended it. A few years ago, like 2017, Jack Morris sat next to me at the bar of The Original Pancake House in Roseville. We talked about baseball, St Paul since we both attended schools there and, of course, pancakes. Though I believe he had a Belgian waffle.
12:08 that handshake shows how even the players knew how great that series was. Like two heavyweight boxers at the start of the 15th and final round.
8 Black players in starting lineup and one Dominican …. How Baseball has changed 🤷♂️
How racist of you 😂

Am a yankee fan but when I was growing up in dr I was 11 years old watch every game with my older brother then sure after that I cane to Harlem and became yankee fan ..but this braves team hold child hood memories
My favorite team and favorite season to this day. #Chopon
I was only 10 years old when this happened and it's still, by far, the best baseball game I've ever watched.
same, I was just weeks away from my 10th b-day when I watched this game! A memorable time for me
I was 10 as well. My dad had fallen asleep in the living room somewhere around the 8th inning, and I moved to the kitchen TV so I could have a bowl of cereal and watch.
Just after Larkin lifted that high fly into left to win it, I walked back into the living room, gave my dad a poke, and said “Hey dad, the Twins just won the World Series.”
He said “Hey look at that,” gave me a big smile and a hair tousle, and went back to sleep. I went back into the kitchen to finish my cereal.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch never tasted so sweet.
I remember watching this game as a kid and cheering for the Twinkies because of my absolute hate of the Braves since they beat out the Dodgers for the pennant. Also, these Twins uniforms are a whole lot better than the threads they got on now. Lastly, listening to Jack Buck's voice was what baseball was all about.
The little girl singing the National Anthem is 38 years old now.
Jack Morris’s arm still hasn’t recovered from this Herculean effort.
As a braves fan it’s so sad they only got 1 World Series in the 90s they went 5 times and this might be the best World Series ever
Yes they should've won. Herbek and twins cheated
I'm a Twins fan but can't agree more with this post. What the Braves did from 91-99 was incredible. They are my one exception to the question would you rather have a really good team for a long time or have a shorter reign with multiple championships. I would answer championships 99% of the time. But I'd rather have this Braves era as opposed to the Marlins who parlayed 2 wild card years into championships despite being dreadful most of their other seasons.
Atlanta made so many blunders throughout the Series but still could have won it because Minnesota didn't play their best (with certain exceptions, like Jack Morris).

Incredible game, incredible series. I was a first year student at University and a sad Boston Red Sox fan to boot. But this series brought me joy. It remains one of the greatest MLB championship series ever played.
No doubt. I'm a Yankees fan. This series is more memorable than those Yankees series wins in the 90s.
I thank gladden for the broken bat hustle play 🎉🎉 10years old remember it clear as day 31 years later
Jack Buck was the GOAT of baseball announcing.
No disrepect to Vin Scully, they were both amazing
Hard to believe this was 30 years ago. This was my last summer before I got my first "real job". The 15 game win streak was unreal. We'd watch the Twins win, then head to the casino around 10 or so (as black jack was just legalized), often times leaving in daylight. Sleep, then do the exact same thing the next day. Rinse, watch, and repeat. It was one helluva summer.
I was a 14 year old
Holy! Commercials! I can’t watch this video with a commercial every 1 1/2 at bats.
From George Nemitz, I too was born in 1966.
2:55:05: You're welcome.
Minnesota Twins are my team. I remember watching this series in 1991. Jack Morris pitched a real gem. It could be one of the best performances, and the series was really memorable for me, even more than the 1987 team. I think this team was pretty, and if I remember correctly they only won maybe 85 games in 1987...
I have 15 years old and bro never see other WS ok want say Is one best series
I absolutely don’t remember Tommy Lasorda being part of the CBS crew (Twins fan here), but it’s kind of prophetic that he basically said after the game pitching wise, ride your horse! (Was Orel Hershiser listening. lol)
I’m a twin n me n my brother where born on this day 31 years later first time seeing this game
love watching this never gets old !
still the only minnesota team to ever win anything. its hard being a fan of minnesota sports
2:05:43, my all time favorite call by Jack Buck. Actually gets me emotional, and I was a Yankees fan back then!
I was 16 years old when I watched this game. This and the 2001 World Series are the greatest World Series I've ever seen. I'll never forget
Big Unit and Curt. What a surreal series that was. Phoenix didn't deserve it, but the players did.
Dan Gladden was a freaking gamer!! One of the best World Series ever.
The music highlighting Bill Mazeroski's walk-off home run to win the 1960 World Series, starting at 52:38, was "Sports Concentrate" composed by Mark Wood.
Man, it doesnt get less all these years later. It still rocks. I fell asleep for both the 87 and 91 series game 7s. I woke up from cheers in both. I wish a MN mens pro team can win something while I am still alive. I am 46 and both grandpas and my mother has passed on with nothing, please let me see one championship while I am an adult. Please.
Twolves got a shot next year
How amazing, I was a freshman in college when I watched this live..its like pieces of my life seeing all these names like Gladden and Hrbek
Best world series in MLB history
One of the Best world series, what won the series for the twins was the fake by chuck at second base and the mistake by Lonnie Smith of not running. But both teams deserved to win.
One of the great games ever played!! Jack Morris showed what a big game pitcher he was! Smoltz too!
Fun fact: The Twins were accused of cheating somewhat both in the 1987 and 1991 World Series. Legend has it, they set the air conditioning to max during the top innings. Helping to blow the balls back into play.
I believe it. Especially after Herbk pulled Ron Gant off the base and they faked a play to stop Lonnie Smith from scoring a run..
Whatever it takes. This is war.
Late October in mn... no AC needed.
This may be the best WS ever with the five extra inning games...but 2001 was legendary with 9th inning homers to tie in games 4 and 5 by the Yankees and of course G7 bottom 9. 2016 is very close with a 1-run win by Cleveland in G3, one run win by my CUBS in G5 and of course extra inning G7. '60 with Bill Mazeroski homering in bottom 9 G7 is also possibly the greatest ever. Am I missing any?
One non-baseball related thing that I want to point out in this video: Listen to the pre-game presentation. Note how all the noise that you hear is (a) the PA announcer, (b) that little girl singing the national anthem, and (c) a bunch of fans making noise. I guess at the end of the anthem, you get a little bit of the organ, then they do play some jock jams over the PA until the first pitch. Even during the game, you don't hear a lot of noise that isn't the game or the fans.
Just compare that to the amount of production added to pre-game (or even during the game) festivities in a game now, and it's night and day different.
Sid Bream always looked like he was running in wet cement.
The great Jack Buck who threw words around as if they were manhole covers opposed to the blabbermouths of today
2:40:47
I forget the color mans name (Tim McCarver?) but regardless, he make a statement that bears repeating.
He says that if the Twins fielders, don't pretend that they have the ball, when they didn't. That the Braves would have scored and won the World series, already.
I used to look at plays, like that and come to the same conclusion, what I was 9. ;)
First thing, when you look at things that way. You only look at he big picture, which is, one evont.
Every part of the equation, changes. Who hits next?, who pitches next. Who stays in the game? Who leaves and tries to steal?
In fact, so many of the detaiis change, I'm laughing at the simple mindedness of the man who made the original question/statement.
2:21:12
Superstitions are a way to feel like you have some control. Out of an uncontrollable event.
As we gain wisdom , we start to realise this fact but when presented, whith a situation like this.
Fans, who have been there before, like to look for a stgn, anything to lower your stress.
The last thing you want to hear, after 7 games and 9 inninges, of scorless ball, is for your hometown commentator, say 'Jack Morris, is trying to complete, 9 inning shutout!!! I would have lost mu mind, if I was a Twins fan! But these superstitions are silly...right?
90s braves shoulda won 3+ World Series w all those all stars and hall of famers
I remember watching the entire series, and then thinking Kelly was insane allowing Morris to keep pitching and then he was pitching in the 10th inning too. That took a lot of guts on both their parts to pull that off! And then for the Braves to load the bases allowing the Twins to win the game. It was, and still is the best game i have ever seen. The crowd was great too. Ever since then i have been hoping the Twins would do it again. But i doubt any team could beat this game as the most epic game 7 ever!
Hard to believe after losing the World Series in 1991 that four short years later that the Braves win the World Series in 1995
They won 14 straight division championships and only got that one crown.
@@jimhunter6460 Since then they have won 7 or more division championships and have zero World Series crowns since moving to both Turner Field and now SunTrust Park
Is it hard to believe that a team that just went to the World Series want again? Clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed lol
Atlanta Braves are 2021 WORLD CHAMPIONS.
The last big 4 sports championship or even final round game/series reached for the state of Minnesota. Woof
Lonnie Smith cost the Braves this world series by not running the bases properly give me a break, what an id&+
Back when American sports were really appreciated!!!!
My favorite team in baseball
Minnesota twins💓💓💓
Lonnie Smith lost this game and Series for the Braves with that epic fail in the ^ 8th on the basepaths..!
He certainly made what turned out to a critical mistake. But he actually had a great series. From a Braves perspective, I'd hold Ron Gant far more responsible. He was terrible. I'm going of memory here so I might be little off, but his win probability for this series was like -.80 or thereabouts. It's hard to come up that bad in a 7 game stretch.
Well they faked a play. Plus Kent Hrbk cheated pulling Gant's leg off the base and I heard the twins cut up the. Air in the metrodome in late innings to make the balls fly out. They cheated just like the Astros
It would have been cool if Gladden had stolen home during the intentional walk of Puckett.
Has anybody tried to count the number of Zubaz pants seen in this broadcast?
Unreal ... incredible game, coming off a great season and series, and then Jack Buck to boot. It doesn't get much better
Something I hadn't thought about before this, but both halves of the inning in the eighth ended on pretty awesome double plays that aren't your run of the mill double plays
I knew before the series started that Minnesota was the better team and they went out and proved it
i wonder if walking justice is what really won the twins that game
