  • Embark on an adventure along Yellowstone's scenic West Side. See the mesmerizing West Thumb Geyser Basin, uncover the intriguing history of the Wreck of the E.C. Waters, be enchanted by LeHardy's Rapids, and witness Mud Volcanoes.
    The west side of Yellowstone Lake is home to a range of captivating attractions that will leave visitors in awe. One of the must-visit destinations is the West Thumb Geyser Basin. Situated right on the edge of the lake, it showcases a stunning collection of geothermal features, including hot springs, geysers, and mud pots. Marvel at the vibrant colors and the steam rising from the thermal vents as you explore the boardwalks that wind through this remarkable hydrothermal area.
    As you continue your journey along the west side, make sure to visit the historic Wreck of the E.C. Waters. This partially submerged steamboat wreck offers a glimpse into the past, serving as a reminder of the lake's rich maritime history. You can learn about the vessel's ill-fated journey and imagine what life was like on the lake during the early 20th century.
    LeHardy's Rapids is another highlight of the west side of Yellowstone Lake. Here, the Yellowstone River rushes through a narrow channel, creating a captivating display of rapids. Take a moment to appreciate the power of nature as you watch the water cascade over the rocks. This spot is also known for its excellent trout fishing, so anglers will find it particularly appealing.
    Lastly, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Mud Volcanoes. Located near the lake's western shore, these unique geological features resemble bubbling mud pots and offer a fascinating sight. Experience the otherworldly landscape as you observe the bubbling mud and the pungent sulfuric odor emanating from the area.
    The attractions along the west side of Yellowstone Lake provide a diverse range of experiences, from geothermal wonders to historical relics and natural marvels. Exploring this area will undoubtedly deepen your appreciation for the unique beauty and geological wonders that Yellowstone National Park has to offer.

    I was just at a mud volcano in California this past weekend, and it is nothing compared to these Yellowstone ones. That Churning Cauldron was nuts. Such an amazing area.

    The majority wants it! The vote has been put in, I don't fish but man would it be enjoyable to see some of it included in the video. That's why we watch your videos, it's the adventure you take us on and inspire us to get out there to hike, kayak, camp, and we should totally add fishing! It's perfect!

    I think I like the west thumb area due to the lake being so prominent in the background. The bull elk was so handsome. I'm so happy you had such a wonderful experience in the park.
    Please be aware Yellowstone Lake can develop some pretty bad conditions very quickly. I know the island seems close, but many have lost their lives in that lake. If you do go on the lake, check in with the rangers on lake conditions and weather that may come in while you are out there. That is a lake that requires good advanced planning and having a plan in case something happens.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  9 месяцев назад +1

      Oh, for sure would be planning heavily if an attempt is made to reach the island. Got a taste of how much a little wind can change paddling and it's nothing to fool around with. 😮‍💨

    This is great! I’ve visited Yellowstone two or three times before but only west Yellowstone. I never made it to the lake so this video is special. You add something unique to your adventures that causes me to look forward to each and every one. Thanks so much for doing this. 👍

      It's a huge park and pretty near impossible to see everything in a reasonable time - we missed a lot ourselves. Pleased that we could bring a new section to you! And thank you so much for your kind words! 😊

    My wife and I were there last week and I like you wanted to gag lol.. That definitely was the most pungent of all the springs and geysers that we saw. It actually made me cough and have to vent some air through my shirt.. I got a little nauseous, which is rare for me.
    Also, if and when Yellowstone Caldera blows, I feel like it will start at the Mud Volcano lol.. jk Idk, but it seemed way more active than anything else in the area.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  9 месяцев назад +1

      It’s great to hear someone confirm the same! It was intense. I’ll place a bet on the Caldera being the center of the next eruption lol!!

    I think you should do fishing videos, kayaking videos, and whatever kind of videos you want. If you think your viewers would be bothered by some of the content, then you can put a disclaimer/viewer discretion warning at the beginning. I prefer fishing for food as opposed to catch and release, but I promise you that I'm not one that would unfollow because of it. I find your videos beautiful.
