@@ytr3488 You're right. I was almost in tears 😭on the night I heard that Johnny Olsen passed. I remember that I heard about that on a CBS News Newsbreak when I was a girly girl! ❤️💕💞
This originally aired on January 17, 2002, a little over a year after Meredith Sandberg won a Flair 30H motorhome in this pricing game, which is Golden Road. Coincidentally, she correctly guessed the number 5.
Those prizes are definitely enough for him to live life on the edge. Edge of the beach that is. He can sit in that chair in a nice beach house, he ride the waves on that water bike and he cruise the coast in that viper!
The most expensive prize won on the Golden Road was a $104,000-plus Cabin Cruiser during one of Bob Barker's 2004 Million Dollar Spectacular episodes. The person who played for the Tesla got to the Tesla but suffered a narrow, painful loss.
Bob may have always known what the actual prices were once he started producing the show. He was the executive producer for the last 19 years of his tenure as the show's star. I don't think Drew knows all the answers ahead of time, and possibly he doesn't want to. I find his reactions to big wins more authentic.
That car is the only Viper I'll gio near. I was actually near one, and there's a roller coaster called the Viper in my home state that I foolishly went on. Squeezed my poor daddy's hand. Never again.
Bob was an absolute master of drawing mystery and suspense out of many situations. I really miss his style and the fun "drama" he created on this show.
It's the Freddie Mercury anonymous appearance. That was not released for several years until after his death. I had heard about it but never seen it. We are so privileged to see this, THANK YOU.
Although this episode ended with a Double Over, I felt those prizes in the showcases were nothing to write home about, hence why that might've been the case.
Back then contestants didn't actually/weren't instructed to. That became more a thing after Barker retired, complete with the "I won a car on The Price is Right" plate every winner shows off now.
@@ajk No it did not "become more a thing after Barker retired." There are hundreds, if not thousands of videos showing contestants checking out their cars with Bob Barker as the host. What the heck are you talking about?
@@viksra I guess it depends how you view it, I don't feel it was all that common then, or at least not to degree it is now, where everyone is told to do it.
On some of these big wins, I sort of wonder if people had enough cash to pay the taxes on them. I'm sure it varies on people's financial situations and possibly the state they live in, but I've heard that winnings of money and prizes can be around 25%-30%. So let's say 25% of $74570.... $18,642 in taxes.... Granted it still a great win, but I wonder how many people forget the tax on winnings/gifts...? I mean I wonder if some people had to take out loans to pay the tax in some cases... maybe even putting the cars themselves down as collatoral. Actually once, there was a local drawing for a BMW Z4 or something like $40,000 (the car was worth about that with all the options and trim). But anyway had a discussion wit ha friend and he said he'd take the car over the $40k. I told him I'd take the cash over the car. For one, you have to pay tax, and atl east with the cash, you can deduct the tax from the cash and walk away with about $28,000. With the car, you'd have to come up with the cash. Second, the car loses values as soon as you take ownership of it. The cash doesn't depreciate as soon as you take ownership of it (it can lose some value if the value of the dollar drops, or it can increase in value,). He thought I was crazy and he told someone else, and they're like "No actually, that's a smart idea.... take the cash not the car"
If you look closely. Bob is actually prompting the right answer. All three times, he held the right number above the space. Note how he hovers the '5' over the car price?
It actually is... sorry about getting the year wrong, the entire April 4, 2005 Million Dollar Spectacular episode is on RUclips in parts, with that Golden Road win being in the first part.
In 1995 there was no website for carolina chairs this was taped in 2001, that is a 2001 viper based on the msrp price of 74k, It is a base model 2001 rt 10. Most general merch companies did not have a website until 2001-2002. Plain in simple this was taped in 2001.
It was reported that he died speeding in the Viper shortly after this episode. His mustache was the only part of him that made it. Tom Selleck was the organ donors recipient. :O
Just in this game it worked this way. He held the card (with the numbers on it) in the most logical place. Both the jet ski and the car had a missing number in the middle, so he held the card in the exact center (2 was in the middle for the jet ski and 2|5 was the middle for the car instead of just the 5). The seat was the only one where the number missing was at the beginning, so he held the card so that the left most number hovered over it...which happened to be the correct number.
Fuck, I want a chaise lounge... I'd love to have that monster of a jet bike... And fuck yeah to a Dodge Viper. Just curious, how many people guessed the numbers right? I know I did.
@PhoenixGoddess1983 As far as I know, a 100000-dollar-plus motorhome on one of the million dollar spectaculars was the most expensive, but I haven't watched regularly since Bob retired, so that could be wrong!
I would have killed to win a Viper! OMG! Not literally kill, but I would fall over I think. Love them. Adding, kind of, to a street racing post! Not necessarily a habit! Why? I bought a 25th Anniversary Mustang from a Police Officer, as he drove one similar to catch highway racers fast. I did not know that anyone can get a police package installed at factory, not affecting warranty. I was ridiculous fast, BUT, not Viper fast. * This leads to my point. Everyone wants to try to suck you into a race and it is annoying, even knowing you will win. It starts, as restraint, but soon Civic drivers with a stupid muffler think they have a Ferrari. On occasion I had to blow a moron away, trying to impress friends, but stopped fast and Thank God that short stupidity was not caught. Maybe 3 times, but I would have been labeled a “Street Racer!”. Maybe he got carried away. I don’t know. I don’t know him. Just offering what can happen. Great insight, by another: there are people that drive fast cars and those that dive cars fast...meaning some own a fast car with nothing to prove. Some don’t, but try to prove something in a car meant for commuting. Not fast! Driven fast (not really, but trying). That does not mean there are not people with fast cars showing off stupidly. This is not about my car, but it would be worse in a Viper. Not defending him, but a possibility. * Regardless...what a win!!! Wow!
I believe Vipers were won four times while Bob was host. Two more were in Golden Road (one from the 34th season premiere) and the fourth one was in the showcase (on the 35th season premiere).

The Price Is Right and Bob Barker were the greatest pair ever in game show history!

The chair he was like "ah fuck"
the wave runner he was like "FUCK YEAH"
the viper shows he strokes out haha
Bob Barker always holds the winning number over the prices
I’ve noticed that too

LOVE seeing the contestants faces when they first see the car then when they win.
The Golden Road big prize in 2021, an electric smart car, 🤣😂🤣
That car is the only Viper I'll gio near. I was actually near one, and there's a roller coaster called the Viper in my home state that I foolishly went on. Squeezed my poor daddy's hand. Never again.
Drive Carefully and Dodge Viper do not belong in the same sentence.
This is what's it's all about. Good for that contestant. Hell, yeah.
Haha. Back when a can of beans cost less than $1!
I feel bad for the Refried Beans. Nobody cares about them at all, not even a little bit!!
I know, they have bean depressed as a result.
Boooo!!
I want some refried beans for tacos.
If those beans had led to me winning a Viper they'd have a place of honor on my living room shelf where everybody could see them and ask me why.
Bob is such a showman its incredible
Bob was an absolute master of drawing mystery and suspense out of many situations. I really miss his style and the fun "drama" he created on this show.
I like Drew better. He gets as excited (or more) than the contestants.
... negatory
Drew has his own style of delivery but it just doesn't work for TPIR. Barker *is* a showman as OP stated. Drew is an embarrassment.
I got a kick out of Bob when he'd stall and not reveal the price or number to tease the contestant 😆
man that is one awesome lookin dodge viper. congratulations peter on winning that car.
I'll bet very few of these big winners live happily ever after.
It's the Freddie Mercury anonymous appearance. That was not released for several years until after his death. I had heard about it but never seen it. We are so privileged to see this, THANK YOU.
Bob was wise to tell him to drive carefully. A Viper will snap hook you into a pole faster than you can blink.
Although this episode ended with a Double Over, I felt those prizes in the showcases were nothing to write home about, hence why that might've been the case.
The only guy that wins a car on this show and doesn't go to check it out, ends up walking away from it lol

My guess for the missing Number in the Price of that Viper would have been either 5 or 9.
Had to be a 5, numbers typically don't/didn't repeat in that game. If you knew that, you would be sure to win here.
If you listened very closely they said title and taxes were included.
