That's cool bro!!! I bought my first pair of 1200MK2's in 1989 and they were stolen in 1993. I purchased another pair in 1993 for $750 and I still have them now and play them everyday. I have never had a problem or had them serviced and they look and play like new.
That's a beautiful collection you have there, i sold mine 20 years ago because i was moving into a smaller house, hundreds of vinyl aswell its still my biggest regret. The mk2 is just on another level and an absolute pleasure to mix with.
Brian, this video touch me a lot! I was a DJ when those pick ups where the best of what we could get. I never had a chance to play with it when I was young, but I know how much love we get from these things.....When I was teenager in Brazil, I had to deal with two 3 in one sound system, believe or not I miss them. Every hour I was sweating over it was a pleasurable time. Life is short, I'm in my 40's now, but still in love with those turn tables. I'll have them soon..... Thank you
It’s never too late I understand the feeling. Right now I have about 10 of these. 4 of them are in near mint condition. The other ones are used but still working perfectly fine. Thx for sharing
I feel the same way about my 1200’s I sold my first set back in the days and regretted it till I picked up another set now I’ll never be without myTechnics thx for the share! #technics1200 #neverdie ✊🏽
Started on a pair of American DJ Belt driven decks back in 98' that was a miserable experience LOL Now i have a pair of MK2's and MK5's. One for home, one for the road and i'll take them to my grave.
Great video...awesome collection,I had to also sell my first set of 1200 s years back and it been eating me up ever since, but luckily one of my old dj buddies I worked clubs with sold me his old set and I’m working on restoring them and gonna buy more down the road and I will never sell them..old D.J .s RULE,,,,,
Sitting here watching with my wife, and when you said you pawned your first set of 12's, my wife chuckled, looked at me, then said: "What do you know about that?" I bought my 12's brand new back in 88, paid $1,800 for both (San Francisco), got nowhere near that when I pawned them. Hurt to let them go, they would have been worth a mint, because I keep my equipment in excellent condition.
Amen Bro I have 8 of them I remember when I was younger I always wanted a set but couldn't afford them and that's why I have so many I love 1200s just that much
I remember the first time you told us the pawn story on RUclips. I believe you even did a video when your purchased them back? It’s been quite a few years though and I’m gettin old 😂 Thanks for the vid👍🏻
My collection of sl1200s are one sl1200 mk2 , one sl1210 mk2 a pair of m3ds , pair of mk5s & a pair of m5gs , my favorite pair are the m3d because those are the first ones I bought back in 2000 when I was a teenager working a summer job .
Great story, never owned a pair of Techincs but I vow that I will one day cause back then I could never afford it but after watching this made me want to pursue and get a pair
Great turntables Brian, Sadly I know how you feel on the subject if helping 'friends' out. Take care and I hope you and your family stay healthy in these strange times. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
If you're not selling them...What about donating one to me! Back is 1990 I had to sell my 1200 because I didn't have money to pay my rent...And even after that, we still got evicted! Nice Collection!
Hi Brian, which is your favorite Cartridge/Stylus for DJing, that's currently available in 2020? Maybe you can make a video with your favorite DJ Cartridges/Styluses in the past and presently.
I remember the pawn shops here in the u.k about 10 years ago were selling them for £150 to £200 a piece ,basically giving them away ,I recently saw one go on e-bay for £1300 ,mainly because it was made in 1985 ?!
I got Three SL1210mk2's like You would never part with them. I had a LP-120USB , that I did all the modifications to. And Like You a guy was begging me to sell It to Him, so He could start DJind again. So I sold It at a low price to help Him out, and again like You, He put It on E-Bay two days later for ten times the price. Then had the audacity to ask Me for My Rega p3, You can tell what I told Him.
I'm lookimg to pick up one GOOD new turntable, for my hobby room... just for at home... Torn between Reloop RP-7000 Mk2, and Audio-Technica LP-1240-XUSB... Any tips on how to really compare those two or decide between them? I've been wanting one of those for quote a while, bit can't decide which one, almost tempted to get one of each, but... Keep shining bro!
The old MK2- MK5 1200s IS THE BEST WAY TO Go, although the newer digitally pitch controls are more accurate, I've heard that it has a downside when it comes to beat matching as the speed control tries to correct itself for the right setting. Like if you set it for +2% its going to attempt to keep that setting as you physically manipulate the record so in essence you are fighting your own turntable!
@@Hi-Tech-Ray , Daniel Spaniel , I'm lookimg for just ONE good turntable, for my own personal use in my hobby room... to add into the DJ stuff I have in there, mainly just for listening to some of my vinyls, and for recording a few samples from time to time...etc... It won't really be used for normal DJ use, not in the usual sense at least... my main holdup with the 2 that I mentioned, is deciding between finish of square or round corners ...lol. Oh, and the new version of the AT LP-1240-XUSB has a conver and headshell/cardtridge included...so in the long run would be a bit cheaper... The Reloop looks nice as well though, and would be usually hooked to my Reloop Terminal Mix 8 that is now my at-home prep/practice setup...and it appears to have the newer tonearm assembly...so... Maybe I will buy the Reloop for one room, the AT for another, I could use one in my hobby room as well as the living room...
Isaiah Furrow As for DJING Technics 1200s will always be my first choice as well as casual listening but on the casual side I would not rule the reloop or the ATLP1240 out. The only thing I hope the ATLP1240 didn’t inherit from the ATLP 120 is the antiskate was not actually functional! I had a pair of the atlp120 before I got a pair of 1200s and that’s what I noticed. In the casual audiophile domain you want the antiskate to function correctly along with the correct tracking force for proper tracking of the grooves in the vinyl where the needle will wall the groove.
Would you ever sell any of your 1200s?????? Im sure at a amazing high proce you will part with them. Im in the mar,et. With.. ana amazinngly high budget. Im scouring the globe for a matched pair. Mine got stolen off me. Man, i pawned so many technics 1200s. And im so upset that I cant find a goood pIr! In 1999, i bought my first pair. Boxed. Then my dad got cancer. I needed money, the bastard who sold them to me said illl give u half what you oayed. I said its been 1 day!!! He said sorry, u need oney, i need to make money. I was crushed. I vowed to find a good pair. And, Never found a good pair since 2010. I have saved a ton, but, no decks. Yet....

If you're not selling them...What about donating one to me! Back is 1990 I had to sell my 1200 because I didn't have money to pay my rent...And even after that, we still got evicted! Nice Collection!
Definitely for DJs, not for serious at home listening

The real first deejay turntables was SL-1200 first generation from 1972 to 1978 way before the SL-1200MK2
I'm curious how these are for beatmatching, with technics going backwards of late its possible they're better in there own subtle way maybe ?
I've owned 13 and I sold them all :(
Lucky the technics seem to be cheap in the U.S than here in great britain
